08.01.2022 Andy Sensei, Founder and Head of Northstar Jujitsu provides some great words on Self Awareness - Self Awareness is a great quality to cultivate. We learn to pay attention and focus on what is happening in the dojo. This is a great first step in understanding awareness. If we are not aware of ourselves, then we cannot be aware of others or our surroundings. If that is the case then we would live constantly playing catch up, reacting after the fact. Once you have a sense of self awareness you can see situations with more clarity and respond with just the right action. This is important for self defence as well as normal interactions with family, friends and work colleagues.

02.01.2022 The basis of responsibility starts with ourselves. Though it is easy to blame others and situations for our problems in life, ultimately the buck stops with us.... I had a huge shift in my life when I realised that I am the source of all my suffering. I understood that each situation that presents itself is totally neutral and it is only my thoughts and feelings around the situation give it life. This does not mean that I do not have an opinion or I am opting out, it is simply that when I am aware, I can choose to engage the feelings about a situation or I do not. This is a great follow on from simple meditation , in that it helps you become more mindful and present and allows the awareness to rise with in us, giving us more space to choose how we want to engage or thinking.
