24.01.2022 Training is back in full swing but of course we still have some rules and protocols to follow. Since we started back training, the students have followed all th...e Covid safe protocols and rules put in place by trying to keep social distancing, temperature checks, using hand sanitiser, wearing shoes to the restrooms and mopping the floor with antiseptic after every class. Parents have been amazing, waiting outside or dropping off and picking up their kids while they participate in class. Last week we started classes with contact, we have punched and kicked pads, participated in self defence and started wrestling. Everyone has trained with safety in mind and understands that we need to come back to training a little easier and taking care of our partners. The intensity with contact will increase but at the moment we are still getting use to the contact feeling again. I want to thank everyone for their understanding, patience and support through this tough time. NOW GET BACK ON THE MAT

21.01.2022 It was a good night for Adults BJJ last night. It was good to see so many white belts working on syllabus techniques and improving their wrestling. Keep up the good work everyone

20.01.2022 Being back in the gym is fantastic, if your not back yet What are you waiting for? All the classes since we have returned to live physical training have been gr...eat and its good to see so many students back on the mat and following the rules. 28 kids (split on two floors) in class yesterday show just how eager the kids are to get back into training. As far as I am aware, from the 1st of July there will be further easing of restrictions and hopefully we can return to normal physical training. Most of the hygien and safety measure I put in place will remain, even once the restriction have been lifted. After the 1st of July we will go back to striking shields and pads in Combat and HapKiDo, have normal partner drilling and wrestling in BJJ classes and have self defence and sparring in HapKiDo classes. As of 1st July kids who are Orange belt & above, and adults of all levels (White to Black Belt) will be expected to have your own gloves and focus mitts, plus your own personal safety gear (mouth guard, groin guard, shin instep) for sparring. We will still have gym shields and paddles for use but no gym gloves or focus mitts will be available for use.. As I keep saying, this pandemic has impacted in so many lives, people have lost friends and loved ones, people have lost the jobs and livelihoods but for most of us its been a bit of an inconvenience in our regular lives. I want to thank all my BJJ students for their patience and support through the isolation and touchless training, your loyalty and support is appreciated and hopefully we can move forward to continue building a strong team of BJJ students again.. 18.01.2022 A few years ago I decided to create our/my own UFA Black Belt Certificate. The final product turned out great, I am very happy with it. On my travels to China,... I had a UFA HapKiDo and a Steve Perceval 5 degree HapKiDo stamps made to stamp on the certificates, which I am also very happy with. This makes your certificates truly unique. So why has it taken so long for this to eventuate? Well I am a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes that makes me procrastinate and time goes by... My idea was to have a big presentation inviting all my Black Belts back to the gym to receive their certificates. Fast forward a couple of years and I have decided this will never happen, so I pulled my finger out, signed and stamped the certificates which I think you will agree look fantastic.. So I will make sure everyone (except Wayne Colclough) gets their certificate ASAP. I will tag as many people in this post as possible so please let each other know that you have a certificate coming your way. Hang them with pride, you earned every stripe and every belt with blood, sweat, tears and dedication on your journey to Black Belt. I am very proud of each of you and you should also be proud of your achievements, you will always be a part of UFA, thank you

17.01.2022 Lets keep Covid out of UFA With what appears to be the second wave of COVID hitting Sydney, we all need to insure that we dont enter the gym if feeling unwell... with flu like symptoms and to increase our own personal hygiene. *Do not enter the centre if you havent had your temperature checked at the door. *Make sure you sanitise before entering the centre, the training floor and after any contact. *Insure any equipment is thoroughly wiped down with anti bacterial wipes before and after use. Its important that we stay focussed and not get complacent with our COVID safety rules. By following these rules hopefully we can continue training in a Covid safe environment.

11.01.2022 An update and reminder of the UFA Martial Arts Academy Covid Safe Plan, procedures and rules. Everyone has been fantastic at sticking to the rules, with the ent...ry, personal hygiene, sanitizing and cleaning (floors and equipment) thank you for doing a great job. We need to make sure we are not becoming complacent and continuing the great job we have been doing, so I am posting the rules and procedures again. Please read it thoroughly to insure you are following the rules and procedures. These rules are for everyone who enters the center regardless of your personal opinion. If you dont understand any of the rules or procedures please ask and if you dont want to follow the rules and procedures then dont enter the center. There are hefty fines for businesses not following the rules and I dont need or want a fine or anyone to contract Covid through the center. So lets take it to the next level and insure our center is a Covid safe place for everyone, thank you.
