23.01.2022 Why we love a bit of history!

23.01.2022 Did my first interview on video with the delightful Marianne Taylor, otherwise know as The House Detective! My Paddington Then and Now partner, Kerry-Anne did a great job of editing and producing! Reckon we might have something... https://youtu.be/AwkQUqaFVo8

21.01.2022 18 months later, and the Under the Lino talk is finally up on the TED website! The Americans called it charming https://www.ted.com//caylie_jeffery_how_my_historic_renova

20.01.2022 Excited to be invited to be part of the Lord Mayor’s Author in Residence Series this month and next! If you haven’t come to one of my talks, this would be a great opportunity to say hi and bring your friends! I’ve done more than 80 talks this year and I have loved doing them, but my favourite ones have been when people from the Under the Lino Project and Facebook group attend... Zoom in on the photo for dates and times. Cx

20.01.2022 Today is the first anniversary of the Under the Lino Book launch! And, as is the way of all things in this project, I was coincidentally given the opportunity to speak for Brisbane Open House at Miegunyah Historic Museum in Bowen Hills today. I wanted to focus my talk on the faceless women of our past (like Eleanor). My daughter, Kitty, and I arrived early to explore, and what did we find? A display of clothes and items belonging to Kate Leslie... wife of Patrick Leslie and s...ister-in-law to George Leslie who used to own the land upon which my house sits! And there, in Kate’s autograph book, was a signature from 1844... W. Leslie (which was probably Walter, their other brother? -see photos!). Goosebumps all day, like the Leslies were there with me! These items, and many more, donated to the museum, can be seen by appointment. Why they are here and not at Newstead House, I don’t know? Recommend a visit, though... Cx at Miegunyah See more

20.01.2022 An incredible life portrait just completed by the amazing Pamela Gough depicts our Heussler Tce home and the stories behind it... a thousand stories in this painting dating back to the 1800s... lots of Milton memories! She’s even painted the ghosts of Websters past in the windows, Arthur’s steam train and the bankbooks under the lino. #pamelagoughart #underthelino #miltonhistory

18.01.2022 Such a lovely review from Leanne Edmistone two years ago x

16.01.2022 A year ago today... the reviews started coming in!

14.01.2022 Two years since Under the Lino was officially launched! 3450 copies sold (or given away, ahem...) and only 50 left in stock. I am still doing talks about the project to groups around Brisbane, now people are meeting again, and the legacy lives on in the work so many people are now doing to record their own stories. Thank goodness I decided against the tram project! #underthelino #happyanniversary

13.01.2022 The fantastic Betty Jo Designs has just started making Lino Kookaburras! She did a sailing boat for me and bunting out of lino, which I love! Check it out...

13.01.2022 For those of you who missed my Under the Lino presentation, because they weren’t able to get to it, or whose clubs were asked to cancel events, I am really happy to be able to share my presentation with you now! I was a guest speaker at the Fraser Coast Writers’ Festival, and they were kind enough to film my presentation. Under the Lino Presentation:...Continue reading

04.01.2022 So many people have asked me about researching their house histories... I will either send them to Marianne Taylor, the House Detective, or I’ll share techniques with them on how to DIY. Here’s our useful methods of doing it yourself x
