25.01.2022 Have you updated your student or staff access card this year? We are having lots of students contact us about access cards not working at the gym and we think it's due to new cards that haven't had gym access transferred across. If you are planning to get a new student/staff access card, just mention to the student services team that you are also a gym member and the security team will confirm and ensure access is added. ... If you think you may be in the group without access, you can email us at [email protected] and we can get the security team to check if the gym door has been added or not.

25.01.2022 Dont forget well be in the gym again tomorrow from 12pm to 3pm so you can pop in for that much needed active study break. And dont forget to do your bit to ensure we keep our space safe and hygienic for all of our members.

22.01.2022 Just another great reason to stay active. :)

22.01.2022 Just in case youre still fence sitting on whether it REALLY is good for you to exercise, here is a great article from the Harvard health team. And just in case you dont have time to read it all, here are some of the key points: "Few things are more stressful than illness. Many forms of exercise reduce stress directly, and by preventing bodily illness, exercise has extra benefits for the mind. Regular physical activity will lower your blood pressure, improve your cholesterol, and reduce your blood sugar. Exercise cuts the risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, colon and breast cancers, osteoporosis and fractures, obesity, depression, and even dementia (memory loss). Exercise slows the aging process, increases energy, and prolongs life."

20.01.2022 For anyone who is keen to learn about fermenting their own veggies to help support their gut health this free online workshop is happening this Saturday as part of national science week.

19.01.2022 Another great reason to start incorporating resistance training into your schedule.

18.01.2022 Were excited that today marks the start of our transition to re-opening. From today we will be offering staffed gym opening times between 5pm - 8pm on Tuesdays and 12pm-3pm on Thursdays. Temp checking is a condition of entry, and will be done at the reception desk in the gym. We ask that all members follow social distancing requirements while they wait for this to be completed. ... We are eagerly awaiting the premier allowing us to return to our full unstaffed schedule (which were sure you are too!), but in the mean time were just thrilled to be back.

18.01.2022 Thank you for your patience as we work towards aligning our operations to the new guidelines set by the Tasmanian Government which allows 80 people for indoor gatherings. Your health and safety is our highest priority as we aim to reopen our doors, so the team is currently working hard to reconfigure the way we deliver our services to ensure all requirements are met. We thank you for your understanding and support and will communicate more information shortly.

17.01.2022 Dear members, We wish to advise members of our Cradle Coast Unigym community that regrettably, our facility will remain closed until further restrictions for stage 3 are eased. Under stage 3 restrictions, a requirement for all gyms is that a qualified staff member must be present in the Gym to supervise COVID-Safe behaviour during all hours the facility is open. As a gym that operates relatively unsupervised, this is not feasible unfortunately.... Ensuring the health and safety of our members remains our number one priority. We will continue to keep your membership on time-stop due to this inconvenience. Access to our online classes will still be available until we can welcome everyone back which is hopefully not too far away!

17.01.2022 Are you living with asthma, osteoporosis, diabetes, or another health challenge? While we always recommend working with your health care providers to establish the best exercise plan for your individual circumstances, the Exercise is Medicine page run by ESSA has some really great fact sheets on a range of health conditions and how to exercise safely with them that can be found at the link below. :)

17.01.2022 - Schedule Update- We have listened to member feedback and we have adjusted our staffed hours starting this week. Our opening hours are: Tuesday 5pm-8pm and ... Wednesday 5pm - 8pm We are still hopeful that it wont be too much longer before restrictions ease and allow us to return to our normal access hours. In the mean time, ensuring we abide by all government advice to continue to offer a safe space to our members is paramount.

15.01.2022 Do you know how much exercise is recommended by the Australian Government for a healthy lifestyle? The guidelines for adults aged 18-64 years are: Doing any physical activity is better than doing none. If you currently do no physical activity, start by doing some, and gradually build up to the recommended amount.... Be active on most, preferably all, days every week. Accumulate 150 to 300 minutes (2 to 5 hours) of moderate intensity physical activity or 75 to 150 minutes (1 to 2 hours) of vigorous intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination of both moderate and vigorous activities, each week. Do muscle strengthening activities on at least 2 days each week. So, even with our shorter access times, you can still be meeting those goals - or combining a mix of gym and home workouts to get the best of both worlds. The full guidelines can be read at the attached link.

15.01.2022 Tomorrow morning at 8am Cherry will be waiting to take you through a Pilates workout that will get your day started in the most positive way. So set your alarm and set aside the time to get your muscles switched on and ready to start the day. https://utas.zoom.us/j/215676754
