25.01.2022 Bandi Chhor Divas is a Sikh celebration that commemorates the day the sixth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Hargobind was released from Gwalior Fort. Emperor Jahangir had held him at the Gwalior Fort for several months. A Sikh Gurdwara, Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor Sahib, is located at the place of the Gurus internment in the Fort. Bandi Chhor Divas was celebrated when Guru Hargobind sahib ji was released from Gwalior prison with 52 Hindu kings and princes holding on to his robe or cape with 52 ropes.The guru let all 52 innocent rulers to safety without any signs of war or battle. #UNITEDSIKHS #BandiChhorDivas #Sikh #waheguruji #diwali

21.01.2022 Dear Supporters, Many of you by now have seen news coverage of Farmers in India's northwest states especially Punjab, known as the bread basket of the nation; marching peacefully for protecting the rights to farming their land, essentially their livelihood. Punjab farmers have taken the lead in this campaign inspiring farmers across the country for having their voice for justice heard in Delhi with the Central Government. Farmers are protesting recent laws enacted by the Cent...ral Government fearing: Dismantling of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system which will allow big corporate houses to dictate terms and farmers will end up getting less for their crops. Disbanding of the Mandi system, they will not get an assured price for their crops Undoing of Arthiyas" - commission agents who also pitch in with loans for them - will be out of business. These protests have been markedly Peaceful yet at times police forces have used violence against their basic democratic right to be heard. Hundreds of farmers have been injured due to police violence. "With the prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic, there is an insurmountable potential risk to farmers and their families. 16.01.2022 Thank you to all the Gurdwaras across Australia who worked hard to plan and execute Bandi Chhor Divas programs in accordance to local public health guidance. This was a massive undertaking that should not go unacknowledged by the sangat or public health officials. We also urge all media outlets to provide balanced coverage. ... A focus on an outlier should not be used to discredit the tremendous efforts demonstrated by the vast majority of Gurdwaras.
