25.01.2022 Win, lose or draw, it’s important to remember that, without Match Officials, there would be no game for us to play. It’s an at times thankless job, but we are extremely grateful for all of the Match Officials and volunteers who give up their time to ensure that we can all play the game we love, week in, week out. Let’s do our bit to create a friendly environment for all referees this weekend, no matter the grade, no matter the stakes and no matter the score. Let’s do our bit to lift our standards across the board. And let’s try to eliminate referee abuse once and for all #respecttheref

25.01.2022 FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY AT THE LIBRARY Looking for Friday night plans? Come down to the UWA Rugby Club for a great evening of rugby, the highlight being the Colts taking on Associates under lights at 6.40pm. The bar will be open from 5pm, with the Western Force match against the Rebels shown on all screens. Following the conclusion of the UWA clash, stick around to watch the Kalamunda and Perth-Bayswater Colts go at it, kicking off at 8pm.... It promises to be a wonderful night of rugby - get down, fill the hill and cheer on our Colts against the old enemy! See you at McGillvray this Friday, and good luck to the @uwacolts2020

23.01.2022 Yet another young and very talented player has decided to join this club for the 2021 season. Mayson Hill is a formidable young talent that has previously been a part of numerous state representative teams as well as the Future Force Academy. Head Coach, Alex Stajka said, "I've known Mayson for a while and already had the pleasure of coaching him. I was delighted when he approached me about playing rugby at UWA with his cousin Regi. He's a young man with massive potential. He's going to add some speed, power and flare to our backline. This guy is someone to watch very closely if he makes the most of his ability, I have no doubt he will be heading to the next level very soon." Please welcome Mayson to the UWA family!

22.01.2022 We have managed to secure another significant addition to our management team, Christal Hewlett has joined the club as Head Physio. Christal is well-known within WA rugby as one of the best physios around. She has worked at PSA and club level, as well as working within an elite environment at the Western Force. Head Coach, Alex Stajka said, "It's really great to have Christal on board. I have worked with Christal before and I really like the way she operates. She is a true pr...ofessional that has a deep understanding of the rugby environment at all levels, which will be great for us at UWA." Please join me in welcoming Christal to the UWA family.

21.01.2022 Another win for our fantastic Premier Grade side: 36 -29 Tries to Aidan Shortall, Jack Bromley x 2 and Connor O'Sullivan. Close losses in both 2nds and 3rds by two and seven points respectively against strong Wanneroo outfits. The club is proud of all our players who took to the field today and grateful for all our coaches and supporters. Thank you to Wanneroo Rugby Union Club for hosting us today.... Back at our home ground next week against Coastal Cavaliers. We had great numbers in Round 1. We welcome our supporters back to The Library next Saturday to watch our boys continue their winning run!

19.01.2022 4 wins from 4 games! Our brave Premier Grade kept their unbeaten winning streak today winning 17-14. Reserve grade went down in a narrow loss 19 -24. 18.01.2022 Our Premier Grade went 3 wins for 0 losses beating the Coastal Cavaliers side 31-21. Our Reserve Grade also had a win 22-10. Our Third Grade had a hard fought 0 - 36 loss. But our Colts got up against Nedlands 15-14 last night. Thanks to our players, coaches, supporters and sponsors. Thank you also to our visiting team Coastal Cavaliers. ... Very proud of our boys. Our Premier Grade will be looking to continue their perfect record against Southern Lions at the Library next week.

16.01.2022 Club Legends Shane Westlake, Barry Cahill and Ben Cairns received their Club Letters today at the UWA Sport Awards. The amount of heart and effort that these merry gentlemen have put into the club over many years is truly admirable. Our superstar Connor O'Sullivan received UWA Half-Blues capping off his fantastic season, although he couldn't be at the ceremony having been tied up with an exam. Congrats gentlemen! We're all very proud of your achievements.

15.01.2022 Welcome Jordie Bungaard! Jordie has decided to join UWA for the 2021 season. A solid player in both attack and defence, Jordie will add some much needed competition to the back row. Head Coach, Alex Stajka said, "It's great to have Jordie on board. He's a good player that has huge potential to develop into one of the competitions best flankers. I'm really excited to see how he develops next season and look forward to introducing him to the playing group." Please give Jordie a warm welcome to the UWA family.

15.01.2022 Two of our the Premier Grade leaders from last season were Jack Bromley and Ben Taylor. Brommers is a proud Uni Man, a former UWA Junior, who's come through our ranks to go on to higher honours and to be one of the leaders in our Premier Grade side. BT was our Captain for most of the season. Leading from the front and making claret a part of his signature look. Head Coach Alex Stajka said, "It’s great to have both of these players back next season. Both are extremely talente...d and bring a huge amount to our team. BT is all round class. He has an exceptional understanding of the game and is consistently a stand out player for us. Brommers has developed nicely and continues to improve. He’s a great line out operator and has a keen eye for the try line. Both players will feature heavily next season and it’s very exciting!" The club is proud to call these men our own.

13.01.2022 Who could forget this moment in last years epic GF between Cott and Soaks. When we heard this infamous kicker and inside back Caleb Young wanted to join the family here at Uni, suffice to say, we were thrilled. Head Coach, Alex Stajka said, "It's really great to have a player of Caleb's calibre join us. After meeting with him, I was convinced that he is the right character to bring into the playing group. He wants to improve, and I'm confident that I can help him do just that." It is an absolute credit to this club, its members and its players that elite athletes like Caleb are coming over without additional enticement to be a part of this group. There is certainly a palpable air of excitement over where our club is headed, not only with successes on the field, but in terms of the positive culture that we can represent as a community.

08.01.2022 We are excited to announce two of our own, Rory and Connor O'Sullivan, are continuing on in 2021. They've come a long way since playing in our colts side. Rory's since had a run with the Force and Connor won the P.G. Hampshire Award. Head Coach Alex Stajka had this to say about our homegrown stars, "I'm really pleased that Connor and Rory have both decided continue to play at UWA. They understandably had interest from other local clubs, but I think they can both see what we a...re building at UWA and both want to be a part of it. Rory is an experienced operator, with a brilliant skillset who has the ability to play in a number of positions. He's played professional rugby for the Force which proves he can mix it with the best. On the flip side, Connor is young and raw. He's a very gifted athlete and was recognised as such by winning the PG Hampshire last season. Connor will only get better and will be a key component of our squad next season. Keeping the quality players that we already have is crucial if we are going to achieve our goals." Not that they were ever really going to leave, but we're still excited to see them again next season!

05.01.2022 The return of another son, Liam Van Der Heyden. Last year we saw the well-publicised returns of half of the Infinities alumni vs Curtin, Jeremy Smith, Adrian Scherpenzeel, Tim Carslaw and Sean Ashton with the latter two getting on the field for our GF game. We have now seen the return of Brendan Vorster and Aden Kambouris to bolster our squad for next season. This club is proving once again that home is where the heart is, with the return of Liam Van Der Heyden back to the Li...brary. Liam is a very talented young player with huge potential. Head Coach, Alex Stajka said, "I've known Liam for a while now and I'm really pleased to have secured his services for next season. He's a big ball carrier and a very hard hitter, which really adds some firepower to our pack. Liam sees what we are building and really wants to be a part of UWA's future success." This is under the guidance of our anonymous burger reviewer with a refined palate... Let's call him "Lynnie". With the shortened season, Lynnie won't be able to visit every club but here are the current top 3 rugby club burgers so far. Disclaimer: All rugby clubs put a lot of care into their food an...d are very welcoming of spectators and supporters.
