12.01.2022 So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. (Luke 1:23) The Synod of St. Bishoy Monastery in Wadi El-Natr...un and Wilderness of Shehit for the Coptic Church and its people in Egypt mourn the passing of its Spiritual father His Grace Bishop Sarabamon, Bishop and Abbot of Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi El-Natroun. His Grace departed to the heavenly glories at dawn on Sunday the 8th March 2020 at the age of 83. He lived a life full of spiritual management, prayer, love and giving. Born Azar Qalid Bastawares on 21/2/1937. He joined the monastery of El-Syrian on 8/12/1959 and was ordained a priest on 24/2/1963. He was promoted to the rank of Hegumen on 25/6/1967. He was ordained as a general bishop by the hands of the Thrice blessed, the late His Holiness, Pope Shenouda III, on 17/6/1973. He was then entrusted as Abbott and head of the monastery of Anba Bishoy on 29/5/1977 serving the monastery for 42 years. We ask the Lord to repose his soul in the Paradise of Joy with all our heavenly fathers, saints and the righteous. We pray for the heavenly condolences for the monastery’s fathers and all his children. With the prayers of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark. Funeral prayers will be held on Tuesday, 10th of March at 12 noon in the Monastery of the Great Saint Anba Bishoy in Wadi El-Natroun. .. . { } ( :) // // // / /. / / . . . .

10.01.2022 The Holy Great Fast Fasting is the champion of every virtue, the beginning of the struggle, the crown of the abstinent, the beauty of virginity and sanctity..., the resplendence of chastity, the commencement of the path of Christianity, the mother of prayer, the wellspring of sobriety and prudence, the teacher of stillness, and the precursor of all good works. Just as the enjoyment of light is coupled with healthy eyes, so desire for prayer accompanies fasting that is practiced with discernment. - His Grace Bishop Youssef -
