Kelly and Ben wanted a simple but beautiful wedding, and their perfect day was everything they'd dreamed of! Under the towering elm tree in the gardens at Utopia, the bride and groom said 'I do' before crossing the bridge into their new life as husband and wife. After photos with our... magical waterfall as the backdrop, the newlyweds entered their elegant dinner reception floating on a cloud of dry ice. Then it was time to cut their stunning cake beside a wall of glittering fairylights, framed by spectacular indoor fireworks! 23.01.2022 Now this is what teamwork is all about! ‘Magical is one word that comes to mind when we remember our wedding day. We are completely happy with how our day panned out. We were so nervous at the beginning but your team’s confidence and attention to detail put us at ease and we knew we could count on you to see that everything went as planned. ... The food at Utopia was delicious, said many of our guests. And the service was impeccable! Dawn (Daybreak Wedding Photography) was amazing. Made many phone calls to us explaining how the day was going to pan out and mentally got us ready. She also listened to what sort of shots I wanted and made me think about the poses before the day which was good because we saved time. She captured our day perfectly! Michael’s work is in a class of its own (Scarlet Studios). I loved the teaser video, especially the drone shots. Absolutely beautiful! I would also like to thank Michael for the live streaming which allowed my family to watch the ceremony. Amazing work! Susan (Susan Gallina Celebrant) met us a while back to go through the paperwork and gave us many ideas on the different ways the ceremony could go and this helped us plan our own unique one. She’s very professional and helped to lighten the mood during the ceremony. Karen (Complete Look - Karen Hedger - Bridal Hair and Make up Artist) should also be mentioned. I was so happy with how she gave me choices on the day because I didn’t want anything over the top. She also responded well to texts and phone calls which was great. 19.01.2022 Positive steps ahead for SA! The SA Government has today announced that from midnight next Tuesday 1st December, restrictions will begin to ease for our dining and events. Dining in the restaurant will remain at one per 4m2 inside for two more weeks, and guests will still be asked to stay seated to eat and drink. However the cap of 10 at a single table will be lifted, and outside dining will return to one guest per 2m2.... Private events and weddings will also be subject to one guest per 4m2 indoors and one per 2m2 outdoors, with numbers capped at 150. The best news is that guests at weddings will once again be permitted to dance and stand for eating and drinking! Thanks so much to our guests for their understanding and support through these often changing times...and we can’t wait to get back to spoiling you all in the weeks ahead! - Team Utopia x

The creeks burst, Waterfall Gully Road was actually washed away in parts and the softening soil resulted in a landslide above Utopia just a few weeks later. This day always reminds us that you can never really know whats around the corner - but when it hits, you must be ready to stay strong and fight every inch of the way to recovery.

03.01.2022 Here in SA we are so very fortunate - with no new COVID cases, no active cases, no community spread since March, no cases at all for months - except those allowed into the state, directly into quarantine. What an amazing place we live in! But for the hospitality, entertainment and events industries, JobKeeper is soon reducing, businesses are closing, jobs are going and events are cancelling. ... SA citizens are now (rightly so) allowed to hold smaller weddings, engagements, birthdays, parties, Christenings, graduations, funerals, memorials and all types of celebrations, where they will of course greet one another, chat, mingle and sit together. Yet they can't stand, nor can they dance. These are small groups - all known to one another, with detailed guest lists for easy contact tracing. Not to mention all of the plans, guidelines and training our staff have undertaken to ensure everyone eats, drinks and interacts safely. Under current restrictions we can crash tackle strangers at footy games each weekend, squish like sardines onto buses and trains, have 30,000 people at a Port Power finals match...but we cant stand for a drink with friends, or dance. When you have a little boogie with Aunty Bev at a wedding, you actually stand further away than when you tackle at footy, or sit together gossiping at a table. Sadly to combat this, many people are now cancelling events at already struggling venues, and moving celebrations into private homes - where there are no COVID Marshals, no COVID Safe Plans, no social distancing, no food service guidelines and no trained staff. So SA Health and Steven Marshall - its time to see reason now. Life, business and events must go on - safely and consistently, in venues with COVID Safe Plans, COVID Marshals, experienced staff and strict guidelines, to give us all a chance for economic recovery.
