19.01.2022 Waverley Pairs Semi Finals played today at Randwick Bowling Club. Semi Final 1 was a thriller between Pete Davies & Terry Pappas V Lou Falzon & Dash Robertson. Terry and Peter played solid bowls early and held a strong 15-6 lead half way through the game. Dash then scored 5 and consecutive singles to close the score to 15-13. Pappas consolidated to lead 18-13 before another run saw Lou and Dash hit the lead 21-19 with 2 ends to play. Excellent bowls from Pappas secured a 2 o...n the 20th end to tie the scores at 21-21 going into the last end. At the final crossover team Pappas held shot. Dash then drew the absoluter with one bowl left each. Pappas played excellent weight - and with a feather off a short bowl trailed the jack to hold game. Dash’s last bowl was a valiant effort but just failed to get shot. Davies and Pappas winning 22-21 Semi Final 2 saw Mick Turner and Brett Fuller take on Dan & Rick Roper. Mick lead solidly and Brett played many magnificent conversions to lead 10-9 on after 9 ends. After 16 ends the Roper’s had regained the lead at 21-13 and were then able to close out the game 25-18 winners. 14.01.2022 Club Pairs Final. Pete Davies and Terry Pappas took on the Dan and Rick Roper in the 2020 final played this afternoon at Randwick. Pappas jumped to a 4-0 lead after 2 ends and maintained a 9-7 lead after 11 ends. Roper’s played their best bowls over the next 5 ends to lead 19-10 before Pappas secured a 5 on the 17th end to bring the score back to 19-15. Singles were traded on the next 2 ends before Pappas narrowly missed a conversion on the penultimate end which would have ...tied the game at 20all, Roper’s fortunately escaping with a single. Singles, Pairs and Triples Sectional play will be held at Zone 13 venues in the Inner West, Eastern Sub...urbs, St George and Sutherland Shire. Over $7,500 in prizemoney. Come and support the longest running bowls tournament outside of state championships. 09.01.2022 Waverley Triples Club Championship got underway today. Played at Diamond Bay. Following 4 games in the morning the semi final results in the afternoon were: M. Turner, B. Fuller, B. Wilbow 27 def P. Fitzsimons, N. Gentle, D. Roper 18. H. Mathison, M. Eccles, A. Jarosz 32 def P. Coonan, P. Jackson, M. McKeon 12 ... Well done to the finalists. Final Wilbow vs Jarosz play date tba. A big thank you to Diamond Bay who opened the club for us and provided a tasty lunch.
