23.01.2022 Marcus Aurelius offered the recipe for a sane and satisfying life . Perception, Action & Will. . Control your perceptions... Direct your actions properly Willingly accept what’s outside your control (have an attitude of gratitude!) . That’s all we need to do See more

21.01.2022 No gym, no problem...buttt a high block brick house and a medicine ball could come in handy though . Exercise = Good for your mind and good for you body! Get it done however you can and quit making excuses . A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this world: he that has these two, has little more to wish for. - John Locke

17.01.2022 Epic day competing in the Annual @gymcartelnewstead Strongman Athletic last weekend! . It’s the 3rd time I’ve competed in it and it’s always rewarding pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and battling it out with a bunch of legends! . Massive shoutout and thanks to @psymon_c for making this event such an awesome day! You really do go above and beyond for this place mate and it is truly appreciated

17.01.2022 A year is simply the amount of time that the earth takes to go around the sun. It says nothing of human biology. Age really IS just a number. Biology separates from chronology early and often. Healthy habits matter. A lot. - Brad Stulberg . Here’s a few daily practices that will have a huge compounding benefit on your health & wellbeing no gimmicks, no hacks, no supplements, just things that actually work! . - Move your body regularly ... - Sleep for 7 to 9 hours - Don’t drink too much alcohol - Eat mostly real, whole foods - Connect with other people, in-person - Find solitude for at least a few minutes - Be patient . All made a hell of a lot easier if you surround yourself with people that share the same type of values @gymcartelnewstead See more

15.01.2022 The pain was REAL ha-ha! CrossFit Open 19.1 . @gymcartelnewstead

14.01.2022 The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves. ~ Alan Watts

10.01.2022 Training for me is just as much about keeping mentally healthy as it is about being physically healthy. . One of the few places I seem to be able to just switch off and for the most part be present. . Slowing down and being present is another thing I try my hardest to do when I’m with my girls. It’s so easy to be in a rush or get distracted these days and miss out on what’s happening right in front of your face

09.01.2022 15-MINUTE BODYWEIGHT INTERVAL WORKOUT . Here’s a basic 15 minute interval workout. No equipment required and no complicated exercises. Sometimes I love these type of workouts the most as they leave you feeling worked but not completely smashed . They’re also the perfect solution for... . If you didn’t make it to the gym today but sill want to do something . You don’t have any equipment . You want an outdoor session . You are on holidays or traveling for work . You are just starting out or getting back into some training . You’re hard-pressed for time! . If this is you, save this WORKOUT and give it a go. . Complete 3 rounds of the following . Perform each exercise in this order for 30 seconds and then have 30 seconds REST after each one. . 1 SQUATS 2 PUSH UPS 3 LUNGES 4 PLANK 5 BURPEES . Repeat for a total of 3 rounds l Good luck . P.S. If you’d like some help with your training (either face-to-face or online) to help get you back on track just message me as I’d love to help you out See more

08.01.2022 How different would the world be if we focused less on judging/criticising and worrying about what everyone else is doing and instead put all that time, effort and energy into working hard to improve ourselves!?

07.01.2022 When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too. ~ Paulo Coelho . Lucky for me I’m surrounded by a bunch of peeps @gymcartelnewstead that have solid core values, keep you accountable, encourage each other and train their asses off! . The BEST way to increase your chances of achieving your goals, (at ANYTIME of the year) is to surround yourself with a solid support network, with friends, mentors, coaches that reinforce your good ...habits, not encourage your bad ones . 06.01.2022 Mackay, 1994, 14 years old after my first full contact Muay Thai fight. Thai boxing was a HUGE part of my life. From 8 years old to my early 20’s I was involved in this sport. . I was lucky enough to have 14 full contact fights, and 14 wins, a QLD title, an international fight and an Australian title which I defended once before retiring at 21 to focus my efforts on perfecting my nightclub dance moves that didn’t turn out so well . I might have been undefeated in the rin...g but I had more than my fair share of losses from my big brother, team mates sparring, basketball pickup games and in other sports I played. . Every time I’d lose, get knocked down, cop a hit, bleeding nose it would make me grit my teeth and try even harder. I hated losing and I’d never quit! . This sport, along with the many others I played taught me so many life skills. . Resilience, determination, focus, hard-work, to eat Mums healthy home cooked meals & skip unhealthy tuck-shop food , how to cope with and overcoming adversity, discipline, early mornings for the win, accountability, teamwork, respect for myself and others, humility, a growth mindset, confidence, compassion for others, stress relief and that even if someone looked big and tough, it doesn’t always mean that they are. . Point I guess is that, there are so many benefits from exercise, sport and physical activity and I want you to feel these benefits too. The benefits can help in every aspect of your life. You can help instil these healthy habits into your children’s lives. You can be a great example. . The key to success with it all. Make it part of your lifestyle and enjoy every part of it. The wins, the losses, the pain, the struggles, all the hard parts. Like I was telling my almost 5 year old this morning when she didn’t want to push her scooter up the hill, my sweetheart, you have to enjoy the hard parts. If you skip the hard parts you’ll never get better, you’ll never get stronger and then I carried her and her scooter up the hill . Make your reasons to move have more meaning, more than just superficial goals, more than just wanting to look good and enjoy EVERY part of the journey. . Happy Easter See more

06.01.2022 There is no normal life that is free of pain. It’s the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth. - Fred Rogers . Pain is part of life. Feel it, learn from it and grow from it . Thanks to @gymcartelnewstead for this pic and for helping us grow stronger both mentally and physically.

01.01.2022 Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labour does the body. SENECA . HEAVY FARMERS CARRY... . Apart from being able to unload the car of all the groceries in one hit, they also have a few other benefits ... . The Farmer's Walk activates nearly every muscle group. . The CORE braces and stabilizes the entire body. . GRIP STRENGTH in the hands, wrists and forearms is needed. . The UPPER BACK works to keep the shoulders and chest from sagging. . The LEGS obviously propel the walk and... . The CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM is engaged throughout the entirety of the movement. As a result, your entire body is put to work! . P.S.
