25.01.2022 Today, many people will be celebrating Halloween and things that go bump in the night. Also today, Lutherans celebrate the far more significant birthday of the Protestant Reformation. On All Hallow’s Eve , later known as Hallowe’en (October 31, 1517), the Augustinian monk Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. He just meant to spark a debate, and some soul-searching among his brothers in the church, about corruption, false ...doctrines, Bible illiteracy, and superstition within the Roman Catholic Church. It actually sparked far more than a debate. The church, and the Western world, would never be the same again. WHY ALL HALLOWS EVE? Because the next day (November 1) would be All Hallows Day (All Saints’ Day). Martin Luther knew that well-educated people from all over were going to come to the services. So he took advantage of this date. WHAT THEN? Martin Luther was excommunicated in 1521, after his hopes to spur renewal from within the church were unsuccessful. With the power of the new printing press, he and other reformers got a wide audience for notions like:| - the rediscovered doctrine of justification (salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone) -and the importance of the Bible as the over-arching authority (he translated the Bible into the German language that was understood by his countrymen). BELIEFS THAT TODAY ARE THE BACKBONE IN MUCH OF CHRISTIANITY!

18.01.2022 Shops have started preparing for Christmas sales. We, as Christians, can also start preparing for Christmas its real, original meaning. One way to do that is by combining a DIY Advent calendar, with Readings from the Bible. Starting on December 1, read a passage daily, and place a symbol representing it, onto a home-made calendar. The one pictured is based on 4 coathangers covered in green, and pictures stuck on after the Bible passage has been read.... Advent Calendar stories 1. Creation/The earth/Genesis 1 2. 17.01.2022 God doesn’t care whether we have lots of obvious talents, or whether we have to dig down deep to find something very small that we are capable of. God cares about HOW we use these abilities. 13.01.2022 Philip Yancey, in his book ‘What’s so Amazing about Grace?’, defines grace like this: ‘Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more . . . and there is nothing we can do to make God love us less’. If you have doubts about this, turn to the Bible and examine the kind of people God loves. There will be one service on Sunday morning 9.00am. Come and join other Christians by physically joining together where possible, or by watching one of the many live-stream s...ervices that are available (live or later), by reading and meditating on the Readings for the day, and/or by reading our weekly Service Order and sermons prepared by our retired Pastors (if you want them emailed to you, let us know). 3 Jan 2021 2nd Sunday after Christmas Jeremiah 31:7-14 The Lord will gather Israel Psalm 147:12-15(16-18)19,20 Ephesians 1:3-14 Paul's thanksgiving and prayer John 1:(1-9)10-18 We saw God's glory in Jesus

12.01.2022 Chrismons, meaning "Christ monograms," traditionally are white and gold Christmas tree ornaments. The designs are Christian symbols that signify Christ -symbols such as stars, crosses, fish, crowns, and the alpha and omega that remind us of Christ's identity, his story, and of the holy Trinity.

10.01.2022 God promised that in the last days he would pour out his Spirit on everyone, so that the sons and daughters would proclaim his message (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17). Have you noticed that it is the elderly who are the first to receive this gift? There isn’t a service today, yet we encourage you to read and meditate on the Readings for the day. 27 Dec 2020... 1st Sunday after Christmas Isaiah 61:10 - 62:3 The Lord will save his people Psalm 148 Galatians 4:4-7 God sent his Son to free us Luke 2:22-40 Simeon and Anna see Jesus See more
