22.01.2022 THANK YOU A special thank you to everyone, including our members, volunteers, sponsors, workers, trainers, jockeys and patrons, for helping to prepare, present and attend our race meeting on Saturday. Unfortunately our local race program was abandoned due to the fantastic rain that decided to arrive just prior to the start of Race 2. ... Although disappointing for the Race Club we do acknowledge the support of those who braved the elements and participated in the day. Your contribution to support country racing is greatly appreciated and we hope to see you all again at our next Race Meeting. #wondairaces #SouthBurnettRaces

21.01.2022 For Trainers, Jockeys and essential Race Day personnel - yes we are currently proceeding with plans to host our scheduled Race Meeting on Saturday 17th of October 2020! For Patrons - sorry at this stage we are not able to provide an answer :( The decision to allow patrons has been postponed until our next Committee Meeting on Tuesday 15th of September. With new COVID events and restrictions the Committee considered it was currently unlikely that patrons would be able to attend. However, thought it best to postpone that decision for as long as possible. We are of course trying our best to provide for the safety of patrons and all involved and would love to be in a position to offer access to patrons. I will update again after our meeting on the 15th September. If you have any questions or need any further information, please message me.

08.01.2022 Our next Race Meeting is scheduled for Saturday 17th of October 2020. We are extremely excited for Racing to return to Wondai after our April and July meetings were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. As things currently stand the Race Meeting will continue as scheduled! We are also very hopeful that patrons will be able to return and support this meeting. However, the Committee is hesitant to provide false hope to patrons regarding attendance and has therefore decided to... leave those decisions until our next meeting Committee Meeting on 25th of August. We would love for restrictions to continue to ease and be in a position to offer all patrons the facilities normally available for a day at the Wondai Races including canteen, tab and on course betting, reserved marquee seating, fashions on the field, sponsorship opportunities, winners circle and much more. We remain hopeful this will be the case and ask that you pencil into your calendars October 17th - Wondai Races (*Book Marquee *Organise Outfit). Please follow our Facebook page for updates, particularly after our committee meeting on 25th of August. If you have any questions or need any further information, please message me.

05.01.2022 RACING QUEENSLAND ADVISES - PATRON FREE RACING To our supporters please take time to read the following Media Release from Racing Queensland. The result is that sadly our historical and much loved ANZAC Day Race meeting must be held patron free. However, the Club is currently in discussions with key stakeholders as to the viability and safety of proceeding with this race meeting at all. Updates will be posted on this page. RQ advises patron-free racing... March 16, 2020 Racing Queensland has advised that all TAB and non-TAB meeting across the state will be conducted without patrons until further notice. Following the Federal Government’s advice that all non-essential, organised gatherings of more than 500 people be cancelled to manage the spread of COVID-19, RQ has confirmed that all future meetings along with trials and trackwork will be limited to key race-day personnel. Access will be permitted to licenced participants who have a horse or greyhound engaged at the meeting, along with essential club, QRIC and RQ staff; broadcast services; approved accredited media; and associated staff required to conduct racing activities including veterinarians and ambulance services. Access will not be permitted to the general public in any code, nor owners or on-course wagering providers. We are experiencing a unique and complex situation which requires Racing Queensland to adopt a uniform approach, RQ CEO Brendan Parnell said. The health and safety of our 40,000 participants, including those who are employed in the industry, remains our top-priority and we will continue to work with our clubs, QRIC and participants to navigate this period. We are mindful of the carnivals we have on the horizon - and the impact that this decision may have on our clubs but it is important that we restrict on-course access in the short-term to limit the potential spread of COVID-19 and the potential impact to our industry. Additionally, access will not be permitted to any key race-day personnel in Queensland that: Is suffering from COVID-19 symptoms or is otherwise unwell; Has been to a country considered at higher risk of COVID-19 in the past 14 days; Is subject to self-isolation requirements imposed by the Government; or Has been in close contact with a person suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19.
