24.01.2022 To all the boys and girls in Don Valley, Launching Place and Woori Yallock - Santa has asked Hillcrest Fire Brigade to help him out with this year’s Santa run. ...We are sure you will all understand some things might look a little different this year as we carefully adhere to COVID safety measures, but there has perhaps never been a more important time to celebrate the festive season as a community. Our brigade has also made up Merry Christmas from Hillcrest stickers for the community as our way of saying thank you for staying safe during a difficult year and your ongoing support. Some of our changes are: You may have a socially distanced photo with Santa on request which means that Santa will remain on the truck with the children standing in front of Santa on the ground Our lollies this year are required to be pre-packaged, so we have a variety of Smiths Chips and Chupa Chups (both gluten free) or Twisties and other Cheese flavours (contain gluten). If your child is gluten free you MUST advise the elves. Our elves will be wearing masks and gloves to stay COVID safe Please allow the truck to stop before approaching it Please spread out along the routes or stop points (we will stop for you) Santa will be coming on a fire truck to our brigade area as follows: Saturday 19 December 2020 Don Valley - starting at 4.45 pm at Home Hotel car park Santa and his sleigh will be available until 5:00 pm for photos (residents of Barak and Garden Hill Road, Corbetts Road, Bluebell Lane and Orchid Street are asked to meet Santa here) then Santa will proceed to Don Road, then the township area, and proceed up to Grandview. Then Santa will travel along Dalry Road through to Healesville Koo Wee Rup Road. Launching Place - will start at 4.45 pm at Glenview Road onto Gembrook Launching Place Road then into Bellbird and all roads on the Wickhams road side of Highway and will finish on Wickams Road Sunday 20 December 2020 Launching Place/Woori Yallock will start at 4.45 pm at Alpine Blvd and Warburton Highway and all roads on Allsops Road side, then Santa will travel to Phillip Rd, Williams, Nester Road and Shevlins Lane, School house, Elvian and finishing on Lusatia Park Road Woori Yallock starting 4.30 pm at Henry and Lester proceeding to Middleton Estate then finish at the Symes Road Estate. Listen out for the sirens on the night to which will announce Santa. Please understand we do not want to disappoint all the excited boys and girls - but Santa may be delayed if the brigade receives a fire call during this time. If we need to cancel or alter the Santa runs we will update you as we can. Our stickers were designed by local business Good Golly Creative thank you for your support of our 2020 Christmas Santa runs.

18.01.2022 Happy Children's Week 2020! Every year Woori Community House puts on a big community event for families in our district called Woori Kids Fest. This includes free family activities such as face painting, jumping castle, animal farm, donkey rides as well as information stalls from local community services and involvement from local schools and community members. 18.01.2022 At 11 am today the nation will pause for Remembrance Day, marking the 102nd anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War on 11 November 1918. Bet...ween 1914 and 1918 a newly federated Australia sent 414,000 of their citizens to face the horrors of modern industrialized war. By 1918, almost 62,000 Australians lay dead among the mud and destruction of the trenches in Europe, the sands of Sinai, Palestine and Syria. On this day each year, people across the nation observe a minute’s silence in memory of those who have died or suffered in war and on peacekeeping and humanitarian operations. The day will conclude with a moving Last Post Ceremony honouring the Unknown Australian Soldier, whose tomb rests in the Hall of Memory, and whose eulogy was first delivered by former Prime Minister Paul Keating in 1993. Visit our website for ways you can commemorate this Remembrance Day: https://www.awm.gov.au/werememberthem #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem #LestWeForget Image: Service personnel and civilians stand on a street corner with heads bowed during the Armistice Day two minutes silence. 11 November 1943. 139925.

11.01.2022 Has anyone had any snow today?Has anyone had any snow today?

11.01.2022 This is not the news I wanted to be delivering today and Im sure its not the news anyone wants to be hearing. We've managed to slow the case numbers over th...e past couple of weeks. But the epidemiological modelling is telling us that at current rates of transmission, and with our current restrictions, it would take months to drive the numbers back down not days or weeks. And that means months of uncertainty and living in limbo. It also means, sadly, more Victorians in hospital beds. More Victorians hooked up to machines just to breathe. More funerals. We can't allow this to drag on and Im sure everyone would rather get on top of it as quickly and decisively as we possibly can. And the only way to do that is to rip the bandaid off, go harder and do it now. Thats why from 6pm tonight, Victoria will enter a State of Disaster. We used this same direction during the fires and as we fight this public health bushfire, we need to use it again. This will give Victoria Police additional powers to make sure people are complying with public health directions and well have more to say on this in the coming days. From 6pm tonight, Melbourne will also move to Stage 4 restrictions with stronger rules to limit the movement of people and limit the spread of this virus across our city. That includes an 8pm-5am curfew beginning tonight. The only reasons to leave home during these hours will be work, medical care and caregiving. New time, distance and gathering limits will also apply for exercise and shopping. Exercise will be limited to a maximum of one hour per day and no more than five kilometres from your home. Group size will be limited to a maximum of two you and one other person whether you live with them or not. Shopping will be limited to one person per household per day. Again, youll need to stay within 5kms of your home. Supermarkets will remain open just as they have throughout this entire pandemic so there is absolutely no need to rush out now to stock up. There will be some common-sense exceptions. If your closest supermarket is further than 5kms away, you can still shop there. If youre a parent with little ones, you can still take them with you when you go for a walk. And these distance, gathering and time limits wont apply for work, medical care or compassionate reasons. But basically staying at home needs to mean exactly that. No loopholes. No excuses. Case numbers have also been rising in regional Victoria and we cant allow that to continue. The data suggests there's a risk the virus is moving faster and more widely than previously thought. Thats why from 11.59pm on Wednesday, Stage 3 restrictions will return across regional Victoria meaning there will once again only be four reasons to be out. Restaurants and cafes can only offer delivery and takeaway. Beauty and personal services will need to close. Entertainment and cultural venues will need to close. Community sport will need to stop. This timeframe is to help local businesses prepare not an excuse to go racing around seeing friends and maxing out your social calendar. Even though regional restrictions dont formally start until Wednesday night, if you can stay at home in the meantime, you must. To the question I know most parents will be asking: Schools will return to remote and flexible learning across all year levels, in all parts of the state. Students who are currently attending onsite will go to school on Monday, have a pupil free day on Tuesday, and be learning at home from Wednesday. Onsite supervision will again be available but only for students who really need it. That means children whose parents have to go to work and vulnerable kids who cant learn from home. From Thursday, those same rules will apply to Melbournes kinder and early childhood education services. We know this will be a significant ask of parents with little ones and big ones too. But I promise, as a parent of three, its an ask I dont make lightly. These changes will be in place for at least the next six weeks until Sunday 13 September. As always, well keep reviewing and realigning the restrictions in line with the advice of our health experts and if we can change things earlier, we will. Today, Ive made some announcements that change how Victorians will live. Tomorrow and in the coming days, Ill have more to say about changes to the way Victorians need to work recognising that workplaces continue to be a source of much of the spread. I appreciate this gap between announcements may create a level of anxiety and uncertainty and I'm sorry about that. But the truth is, this is complex and were going to take some extra time to make sure we get these calls right. I know this is a lot of information to take in and there will be details to figure out and questions to answer. Ill explain things as clearly as I possibly can, and do my best to clarify any points of uncertainty over the next couple of days. The truth is that there are no easy solutions. If that were the case, the global community would be rid of this virus already. If there was a magic bullet, more than 683,000 people wouldnt have already lost their lives around the world. This is the biggest and most complex challenge weve encountered in living memory and it requires big and complex solutions. People will no doubt be feeling scared and sad and worried. Thats only natural given what were facing. Its why Im asking something else of Victorians: Please be calm. Please be kind. Please be patient. Please treat people the way you would want to be treated. And please look out for each other. We can we will get through this.

10.01.2022 Yarra Ranges is one of Victorias largest and most varied municipalities, and we understand that during this difficult time, previously simple tasks lik...e getting groceries might be a little more difficult, particularly in areas like the Upper Yarra. It is okay to travel further than 5km to access things that are essential; but, not simply for preferences. If you need it and its essential, and you cant get it within 5km, then its okay to go to the nearest provider. We need to remember that staying home is one of the most important things we can do to stop the spread of COVID-19. Please only leave home or the 5km radius from your home if its absolutely essential. As a community we are in this together, so be kind to yourself and be kind to others. If you need help, reach out, help is available. Whether youre having trouble accessing essentials or need support in other ways, give us a call on 1300 368 333 or view our list of support agencies at yrc.vic.gov.au/bekindtoyourself
