Yes but only for the old gut coronavirus strain that has been a problem in dogs for years. It is distantly related to COVID-19 and the enteric (gut) Canine Coronavirus vaccine is very unlikely to be effective against COVID-19 for pets. Q. Can people with COVID-19 infect other pets and animals like pet rats or horses? - [ ] A. This is not proven one way or the other yet so the hygiene precaution outlined in the video for people infected with the virus minimising their exposure to there animals makes sense. Coronaviruses can and do jump species and previous outbreaks of human illness have come from bats, camels, and other wildlife. If many people become infected we do not want the COVID-19 infection being shared to other species including our pets of any kind. Again the COVID-19 virus is now a human to human virus and needs to not jump species again.
