22.01.2022 BEWAREAs reported in recent news articles, Emotet Banking Trojan is a malicious computer program designed to steal confidential info through online banking systems and is currently infiltrating inboxes around Australia. Most of Emotet’s recent emails are disguised as outstanding invoices with malicious attachments, which if opened, launch the infection and begin the spamming process, capturing your contacts and delivering more emails to your network and beyond. As the emails come from a hijacked email account that may be in your network, it can appear to come from someone you know and look legitimate when in fact it most definitely isn’t. Look out for emails like the below example. The severity of this issue has been increased to a threat ‘Level 3:Alert’ by the Australian Cyber Security Center (ACSC), so must be taken seriously.

20.01.2022 Happy #FunFactFriday y’all! Did you know that the internet browser mascot for Firefox is not actually a fox at all? Firefox is a nickname for the Red Panda. So, it is actually a Red Panda in the logo. Bonus #FunFact, Mozilla Firefox adopted two red pandas and occasionally live streams them, as a thank you to its users!

20.01.2022 #techtiptuesday for today applies to the Office 365 users out there Did you know Office 365 comes with a To-Do Tool? It helps you to create a list of things to do for anything you want, shopping, home-projects, work etc. and by being able to add reminders, due dates and notes, it helps you keep track of deadlines! AND you are able to access your lists from your iPhone, android phone and also your Office 365 account (Click on "All Apps" in the app launcher to find the To Do app for Office 365).

19.01.2022 Happy first #TechTipTuesday of 2018! I hope you all had a very well-deserved break! This week's tip is will help reduce the time spent due to incompatible text formatting. When you copy text from any source, certain formatting comes with it. To paste this as plain text, press Ctrl + Shift + V instead of the standard Ctrl + V and the system will paste un-formatted text. Then you don't have to re-type the text! This also works on Mac: Cmd + Shift + V.

18.01.2022 Happy #TechTipTuesday! I know this might seem like a no-brainer, but be cautious when opening any emails with attachments you are not familiar with, especially password-protected ZIP files. A virus scanner cannot automatically scan contents of ZIP files, making it harder to detect. Also, never activate macros, as the virus may not be in the attachment itself, but in the macro!

Our IT Technician and CSGO extraordinaire, Bobby, has progressed within the team and is now the Team Leader of our IT support sector here at Xtreme! Some of you may have already had the pleasure of meeting or speaking to Bobby, but for those who haven’t, Bobby started out as a junior nearly 3 years ago and has diligently worked his way up. 09.01.2022 Welcome back everyone! This the first #FunFactFriday for 2018 and it’s very interesting! Which do you think came first, email or the World Wide Web? It was actually email, contrary to everyone would think! Mailbox, as it was called back in the 1980's, was the system used to send messages to other computers. It involved connecting a computer and a rotary telephone and then connecting those to a service called Micronet and as there were no URLs, webpages were numbered. The we...bpage number for emails, was 7776. Here is a youtube clip from a tech show in 1984 showing exactly how this was done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szdbKz5CyhA

09.01.2022 Use ShareX instead of the Snipping Tool! ShareX is awesome, enough said. It’s a free and open-source screenshot and screencast utility for Microsoft Windows, which can be used to replace the built-in snipping tool for infinitely more functionality. #techtiptuesday

06.01.2022 In our digital age, you need passwords for absolutely everything, but with hackers becoming more and more of a threat, it's crucial you don't use the same one for multiple sites. Approximately 100 passwords are stolen every second, that's 8 million passwords every day! #techtiptuesday

04.01.2022 Are you guilty of having way too many tabs open at once in your browser? Easily rotate through them from left to right by using CTRL + TAB, or to rotate from right to left, CTRL + SHIFT + TAB! #techtiptuesday
