24.01.2022 At YOSHC, we have been showing our support for Reconciliation Week since last Wednesday with activities such as a Reconciliation barefoot walk with paint, Aboriginal story stone making, Aboriginal games such as EDOR, gardening and meditation, and our big art project for ‘In this together’. Although it is the official ending of Reconciliation Week, YOSHC is continuing this project to show our constant support for Reconciliation. At the sign in/out area, and in the hall, there will be a basket with plain, cut out hands. Please take one to decorate in love and support, and bring it back to add to our poster. We would love this to be an opportunity for you to do this at home with your children, and for children to see the impact and power of people joining together and showing support.

22.01.2022 One of our musically talented Educators, Beth, has been running ukelele club this term. We’ve had lots of interest in the club - it’s safe to say that we have some kids who are music stars! Can you tell what this song is?

22.01.2022 As we reach the end of their term, we are getting closer to Holiday Care! YOSHC has several Holiday Care days that are fully booked and have significant waiting lists. YOSHC is currently operating under the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package which mandates that they must prioritise access to care to children of essential workers, vulnerable and disadvantaged children; and previously enrolled children. Therefore, vulnerable chi...ldren and children with parents required to work away from home will have the first opportunity to access care. After we satisfy the needs of these families, we can then include children from parents working from home, and then, if available, we can cater for any other child/ren. Therefore, we ask that if you have already booked in your child/ren for Holiday Care, and your circumstances have changed or if you no longer require the care, that you remove your child/ren from care to make space for others who do require their children to attend. You can let us know if you need the care removed, by sending an email to [email protected]. Priority bookings will occur in the following order, on a first in best dressed basis: - Vulnerable children and children with parents required to work away from home will have the first opportunity to access care. - Then, children from parents working from home will be prioritised. - Lastly, we will be catering for any other child/ren. Thank you to those families who have already gotten in contact with us. If you have any questions, please contact the YOSHC Team. We can’t wait for another exciting Holiday Care!

18.01.2022 A wheelie good trick by one of the kids at YOSHC today!

16.01.2022 School holidays have been a blast so far! Lots of exciting activities have been happening - we’re looking forward to sharing some highlights at the end of next week! But for now we felt the need to share this song sung and played on ukelele by our YOSHC kids. Excuse the feet, we are trying to keep our posts face free! This was in the last week of Beth’s ukelele club, in Week 10. We are so impressed by what they have learnt. You might recognise that this was the song the kids ...were playing in the last ukulele video we shared! Happy weekend families, enjoy the last week of holidays - we certainly will!

12.01.2022 What an absolutely awesome Holiday Care it has been! From Gameshow Gary (AKA Tom) getting slimed and spaghetti towers, to ice skating, raft making (and testing), slip and slides, and farewells. These holidays have been a blast! We’re pretty sure the kids thought so too.

10.01.2022 Good Morning YOSHC Families, We are back with another Friendly Friday. Today, we are introducing one of our newer staff, Courtney. Here are some fun things to know about her: What are you studying at University? I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) majoring in History and English.... What is your favourite thing about working at YOSHC? My favourite thing about working at YOSHC is getting to spend time with the kids as they are so imaginative and I love seeing what they can do with their creativity! If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Ice cream because there are so many different flavours so I’d never get sick of it Next time you see Courtney around YOSHC, be sure to say hello!

10.01.2022 School is out - YOSHC fun is in! The kids are having a wheelie good time on Wheels Day today. It’s always such a popular one!

09.01.2022 What a Thrifty Thursday it has been and a great start to Holiday Care this week! Some of the things we’ve created today include our own no-sew seat cushions, matching bunting and a YOSHC tile mosaic (to be completed). We’ve had some older kids being great leaders today, helping the younger kids with the tricky parts of these DIY projects. There are plenty more highlights to come for the rest of Holiday Care, so stay tuned.

08.01.2022 Our Educator, Bronte got creative with the kids this morning and made some spontaneous jellyfish craft. How awesome!

07.01.2022 We were very impressed with some of the kids bridge building skills this morning. They worked hard to make a stable base, discovered that kebab sticks under the paper made it stronger and even made it look pretty in the process. Go YOSHC kids!

05.01.2022 Hi YOSHC Families, we are excited to have just released the booking link for the upcoming December holiday care period. We are trying something a little different this year. Families will be required to complete 2 different booking forms- one for the December weeks and one for the January weeks. We are hoping this will make planning easier for you and reduce the amount of cancellations. Keep your eyes peeled for the January program getting released on Wednesday the 9th of December. The picture planners for December can be viewed on this post and you can book by clicking this link and following the prompts: https://www.cognitoforms.com//YOSHC2020DecemberHolidayCare

04.01.2022 Today is a special day for our YOSHC team - it is national OSHC Educator Day! We are lucky to have such an awesome group of Educators at YOSHC who were spoilt with gifts made by the kids, and kind messages from families. Thank you to not only our Educators, but all Educators in the sector for your hard work!

04.01.2022 Another Friendly Friday with our awesome YOSHC Educator Bronte M. She has answered some questions below: What are you studying? - I just started studying Interior Architecture, minoring in Graphic Design. ... What is your favourite type of activity to do with the kids at YOSHC and why? - I love any activity that allows me to be creative with the kids. It’s so cool to see how imaginative and creative they can be! If you could go back in time what year would you travel to and why? - I would travel back to the 1990’s because I think the fashion, music and vibes were super cool. Say hi to Bronte if you see her around YOSHC and keep your eyes peeled for another Friendly Friday soon.

03.01.2022 Millie’s cooking club has been a hit so far this term. Today they made spaghetti bolognaise, with pasta from scratch and all! There were lots of keen helpers with this activity, who enjoyed eating the finish product too. No wonder, it looks delicious!

02.01.2022 There are only a couple more days to get complete the survey to provide information about you particular circumstances. We have created this survey, as we want to meet the changing needs of our community. We would like to ensure that YOSHC caters to your care requirements, even if they need to change. Additionally, with fees set to resume in the first week of Term 3, we want to ensure that families are not financially disadvantaged. The results from this survey will allow us... to make appropriate administration, staffing and programming adjustments, as well as maintaining flexibility for individual family needs and bookings. A link to the survey has been provided below. We appreciate you completing the survey by COB Friday the 19th of June so that we can use the information to inform our operations in the coming weeks. Following the survey, we will be in contact with any changes.
