25.01.2022 Not sure that I've shared this officially here yet? The Yoga Kin family is growing with another boy in 2018! I've also added an extra pregnancy class to the schedule. Preggo classes are now Tuesday 6.30pm and Saturday 8am. We kick off again the week beginning 8th January. Make sure you book your spot as they are filling fast. x... http://www.bettinarae.com/pregnancy-yoga-sunshine-coast/

25.01.2022 That's one chilled out yoga bubba. And the best bit is his Mama got to enjoy the same a little later in savasana while he snoozed the class away. There is only one more spot in the pop up Mums and Bubs yoga class on the 19th March. If you missed out on the term classes come and join us for some yoga and tea /chat afterwards. X

23.01.2022 Pigeon pose comes with free cuddles in our studio. So that's it - our first term at Yoga Kin is done! I hope you've all enjoyed your classes. Have a magical Christmas break and we'll see you again in the new year. Regular classes start January 8th, but keep an eye out for pop up events in the meantime.

23.01.2022 Even though I was already a yoga teacher I barely did any when I was pregnant with my first son. I also buried my head in the sand about birth and just assumed that I was going to a hospital, they would know what to do so I didn't need to. BIG mistake. While we are so lucky to live in a country with a medical system to take care of us when we need them to, you actually don't really want to need them during birth. I wish first time round I'd educated myself on how my body wo...rked throughout labour and birth and what I could do to make the whole process less stressful and honestly, less painful. During my second pregnancy I did everything I could to prepare, I fell back in love with my yoga practice and all the tools it had to offer me in prep for birth. My second boy was born in two hours, I was at hospital but I did it without any intervention, other than the moral support of my midwives (who are amazing) I felt like a super woman. This is what I teach in my pregnancy yoga classes. It's not just about relaxing and stretching the body. It's about preparing the body, mind and spirit for the challenge of birthing your baby. It's about knowing what tools you can use when things get stressful. It's about learning how strong you really are. Classes start this Saturday.

23.01.2022 Hahaha which one of these is most spot on for you?

22.01.2022 I've had questions recently about how long I'll teach (I'm getting bigger by the minute at 25 weeks) and when I'll be back. I plan to teach up to 35 weeks which means YES there is another term after the holidays and they are available for booking now. Mums and Bubs Yoga Thursday 9.30am... Pregnancy Yoga Saturday 8am (Fertility and Yoga Therapy / Counselling Sessions available by request.) As for after bub, it's currently a play by year situation. I've put my request out to the universe for a sleeper / chill baby (lol) so if that happens (I mean WHEN that happens) I hope to be back sooner rather than later, probably teaching while baby wearing. But I'll keep you in the loop. The best place to keep up to date on everything is join us over in our Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/yogakin/

21.01.2022 "An empowered birth is an educated birth, not a perfect one." I'm constantly reminded (through the stories you guys share) that we can't create our 'perfect birth' but being educated means you can feel empowered in whatever choices you have to make. And at the end of the day, THAT'S what it comes down to - how YOU feel about your birth. Pregnancy yoga is not just a class that is modified for a body with a big belly. It's about learning what your body can do and how you can work with it during labour and birth. It's about feeling empowered in your own body (even if you barely recognise it anymore!) Our pregnancy yoga classes are Saturdays at 8am. Casual visits welcome. Message for more info x

20.01.2022 In case you had any doubt that they copy EVERYTHING they see. This is how Rory set himself up for Mums and Bubs yoga today. He knows how to chill out while his baby sleeps beside him.

17.01.2022 Interrupting your end of year lazing about (or is that just me?) to tell you that Mums and Bubs yoga classes are kicking off on Thursday 11th Jan - bookings are open and filling up! Grab yours here. --->http://www.bettinarae.com/mums-bubs-yoga-sunshine-coast/

16.01.2022 Want to see what our space looked life before renos? I've shared it all over on my blog. X http://www.bettinarae.com/room-reveal-7-yoga-studio-kids-p/

16.01.2022 Heat wave got you feeling a little like this? Yep! Us too. Our yoga classes are a mix of flow and restore, and on days this hot - there is a HIGH chance there will be more restore than flow. Also FYI Mums and Bubs for next term only has 1 space left and pregnancy yoga is filling too - if you're wanting to join us make sure you book in. Click the link in my profile or contact via DM.

15.01.2022 Each week while I teach yoga to their Mums, I try and have a little sensory play activity set up for the toddlers in the kid's room. Basically I do this for one main reason. Kids happy = Mums Happy. While I do hire a carer for the Mums & Bubs class we are a free flowing space, which means the kids can come and go to their Mums in the yoga room as they please. I try to set up a fun activity for them to do each week purely to try and keep them occupied and away from Mum for as... long as possible. After I posted some pics of what we did last week I had a few comments and questions so I thought maybe I'd start sharing what we do each week here. My original plan for this activity was some good ol' pasta necklace making, because I have a couple of 3 year olds who I thought would love this. The play dough and nature pieces were added as a second part because I needed something to keep my 1 and 2 year olds busy while the others did some threading. I really should have learnt by now not to doubt the popularity of play dough though. They ALL ended up playing with the play dough and the pasta was mostly used as echidna spikes in the dough Because I have a mix of ages I always make sure that everything I use is edible because... we know what one year olds do with everything. Everyone commented on how good this play dough smelled, because of the green probiotic powder I added to colour it. (Which is good that this expensive supplement is being appreciated somewhere, because honestly is makes me gag when I have to take it.) Check out the blog for how to make the play dough and coloured pasta here http://bit.ly/2Bx08O9

15.01.2022 Morning light and a quick little flow in the space. Side note - when did my belly get so big? Pregnancy yoga is on tonight at 6.30pm we have space available - PM to organise a casual visit.

14.01.2022 How are the Easter holidays treating you? I have to admit, I'm somewhat struggling to keep up with the energy of my mad two but we're getting there! Third trimester today - woo hoo! On the home stretch now. Yoga classes will start back on the 19th April - Make sure you're booked. X

13.01.2022 When did you start maternity leave with your babies? I've had a few of you asking will there be another Yoga Kin term after the holidays because I'm currently 1000 weeks pregnant. (Ok maybe not, but it sometimes feels like it.) The answer is YES! My current plan is to teach to until 35 weeks - which means the next term will run from the 19th April - 17th May. ... The next question I've been getting is when will we be back.... ? Not sure on this one. I've put my request out to the universe for a sleeper this time so if all goes well, maybe sooner rather than later. But I think it's probably smart not to make any plans when it comes to babies!

13.01.2022 In birth (actually in life too now that I think about it) fear = tension = pain. In our pregnancy yoga classes we practice techniques to deal with the physical effects of fear and work on our thoughts and emotions to approach birth calmly. (They're also really handy skills to have as you go into parenting a small demanding bundle of joy on no sleep) Our new pregnancy term starts this Saturday at 8am. Casual visits available too.

13.01.2022 Oh hi! Not sure that I've ever introduced myself properly here (let's blame the baby brain hey?) I'm Bettina. Yoga Kin is my home based yoga studio for fertility yoga, pregnancy yoga, birth prep, mums and Bubs yoga, mothers groups and more. Basically it's the space I wanted to go to and couldn't find. I've got two boys already Eamon (6) and Rory (3) and this little boy growing in my belly is 26 weeks. We had a bit of a road to get here as I lost three babies before this ...one, which is why fertility yoga is so important to me. We're just about to take a lil break for the Easter hols but you can still join me for a class tomorrow (8am pregnancy and 9.15am fertility). Just DM me for details and to let me know you're coming. Otherwise we'll be back after the hols. If you feel like sharing I'd love to know more about you- introduce yourself in the comments. Hope to see you next term! X

12.01.2022 I figured I may as well make the most of the type of yoga my body wants to do right now and there are TWO pregnancy classes on the timetable. Term packs are $102 ($17) per class and we kick off next week. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. xx http://www.bettinarae.com/shop-2/

11.01.2022 I'd be lying if I told you that this pregnancy is a walk in the park. Do they get harder the more you have or is it just me? Or maybe it's just this heat? I CAN tell you that my yoga practice has helped me to understand and listen to my body better than any other pregnancy. By this point in my pregnancy with Rory I was having really bad SI / pelvis pain and while it's still something I have to be mindful of, I now know how to move my body to support this area rather than ov...er-stretching (which feels really good but just makes it a whole lot worse). If you'd like to practice with me pregnancy yoga is on Saturdays at 8am or book a one-on-one session to learn how to feel good (or at least better) in your body throughout your pregnancy and get support to prepare for the birth you want.

10.01.2022 There are babies being born allllll around me at the minute which is making me feel a little impatient (ok maybe a lot) to meet my baby boy. One thing that I have noticed though is that almost all of them have been very positive birth stories, even those that didn't turn out exactly as planned. My tips for having a more positive birth experience? 1. Choose your caregiver / medical model carefully - private / public / shared cared / private midwife / obstetrician / midwife p...rogram - make sure that whichever you pick you feel comfortable asking questions about EVERYTHING. 2. Educate yourself about how your body works and how you can work with it during labour and birth (we practice a lot of these techniques during my yoga classes). 3. Make sure you support person (partner, mum, friend, doula, etc) knows how to support you during labour and birth. 4. Let go of strict expectations about what it MUST look like and follow your body's lead. Pregnancy yoga classes start back on the 21st. Hope to see you there http://www.bettinarae.com/product/yoga-kin-pregnancy-yoga/

06.01.2022 Wondering how Mums and Bubs yoga classes work? We practice yoga in the main room and the kids (if they're mobile) are free to either snuggle with you or explore the kids room. In the older age group we have a carer in the kids space to try and keep them entertained in there so you get some time to practice. Non-moving bubs can be set up beside you on your mat or pick them up and include them in your practice if they're fussy. ... Our new term starts next week - hope to see you there!

05.01.2022 Have you come to check our space out yet? Classes start back next week. CURRENT TIMETABLE... Tuesday 6.30pm Pregnancy Yoga Thursday 9.30am Mums and Bubs (walkers+) Thursday 10.45am Mums and Bubs (pre walkers) Saturday 8am Pregnancy Yoga Classes and carers need to be confirmed today so make sure you've booked your spot so you don't miss out. x

04.01.2022 Our philosophy in Mums and Bubs classes really is 'anything goes'. We let them be little and we manage our practice around them. Nothing makes for a stronger yoga practice really. It's easy to stay present and mindful in a quietened room, but can you do that while chaos (sometimes) occurs around you? We don't stress when there are tears or tantrums. Sometimes our practice looks like feeding a baby while reclined on some bolsters and just breathing deep or holding baby on you...r knee in a warrior pose, other times our babies sleep or happily play and we get a full hours physical practice. Either way, each class is an hour well spent. Side note. This little man lay here with an eye-patch for a full five minutes. Still but awake. My classes are for Mums but I wonder how many good habits our little ones are also picking up just by watching and copying.

04.01.2022 Looking for something to help with the bone-deep exhaustion of pregnancy (when sleep just isn't an option right now). I've just added a pregnancy class for exhaustion to my youtube channel that you might want to check out. https://youtu.be/Ir37niTdshs OR... come and visit us in the studio this Saturday at 8am for pregnancy yoga (you're more than welcome to nap on your mat for the whole hour) - there is still space for casual drop ins. x

04.01.2022 Remember that very pregnant feeling? When you can't remember what your toes look like anymore and when you drop something you think 'oh well - it's gone now'. I remember that from my first pregnancy. I barely practiced any yoga and I remember feeling big and awkward and uncomfortable from about 25 weeks onward. With my second I kept up a regular practice and it made a WORLD of difference. These photos were taken at 38 weeks during that pregnancy actually. I felt like I cou...ld still move freely. My legs didn't ache at night time.... Pregnancy yoga helps you get to know your changing bod better so that you can still move and feel good rather than wishing away the days until bub arrives. Pregnancy Yoga is on tonight at 6.30pm and Saturday 8am. Drop ins welcome - just DM me to reserve your spot.

03.01.2022 I'm going to miss these little people and their Mums so much! Though I can't wait to be adding our new little man to this tribe. Side note. Allllllll the kids had loads of energy today - is this a 'my house phenomenon' or is it happening at yours too?

03.01.2022 Psssst ... our new term for all classes starts next week. Our term runs for 5 weeks, so we finish up one week before the Easter school holidays. Grab your spot here --> http://www.bettinarae.com/shop-2/

01.01.2022 When I look back on my first pregnancy (and birth) it really was a case of I didn't know what I didn't know. I didn't know how my body worked during labour and birth and how to work with it. I didn't know how medical interventions or even just being in a hospital that wasn't familiar and comfortable could affect my body. I can't help but shake my head at the me from 6 years ago who pretty much did everything my doctor said without ever asking 'why?' Or 'what's my other opti...on?' I only wish that first time I'd had a group of women who had been through it already and who shared their experiences openly so I would have had the chance to ask better questions. Often before and after our pregnancy yoga classes our conversation ends up around birth, or pregnancy complaints or advice from our doctors that we're not sure about. I can't even place a value on how important that is, whether you're pregnant for the first or fifth time.
