25.01.2022 I meant to post the photos of Pete and his friend Leo, (the youngster who is staying with us) this morning as they were sharing the window bed.. I swear I'm going to have to slap stick it notes to my head so if I pass a mirror I'll be reminded of the things I wanted to do.. I PROMISE I'll do the kitten applications tomorrow, I'm just not sure where the day goes..although having 10 baby cats 6 of which are being hand reared, 2 puppies who MUST have time with our dogs every... day, and they do, always supervised, a blind dog who is a brilliant little girl but awareness of where she is and guiding/directing her is vital, her world is black, it's up to us to add the brightness into her life, and protect her from bumping and tripping..ensuring she is happy and not puzzled or worried..add emails, ' phone calls and let's not forget my beautiful chickens!! Chuck in every day things and trying hard to get some personal time ( I so love dafoodling around in the gardens) and I guess I've just answered my own question re where does the day go?! Anyhoo.. Here's the photo's of beautiful, gentle Pete.. And the rest are the babies we're hand rearing..they are SO tiny, although they are stacking on the weight, it's deceiving.. We had just given them their bottle, and after cuddles, it was time to settle into bed.. They are just starting to wash themselves, and it is the cutest thing ever! It won't be long and they'll be scooting around with the others.. So, hope you've had a lovely weekend, and enjoy seeing our beautiful, sweet little and not so little, friends to finish it off with a smile..

25.01.2022 Just finished the 11pm feed.. That's the smallest one.. You fight tiny wildling, you hear me?!... Time to grab some zzzzs.. Sweet dreams.. XxX

25.01.2022 Winx is really settling in well...went to bed when I did and settled immediately.. Today, she actually went to the door to go out for a poo. How amazing is that??!!... Been here less than 48 hours and she's got that worked out already.. She now has a favourite toy.. Don't treat her like an invalid, she's a bright, happy and cheeky girl..and very, very switched on.. Guiding her vocally isn't hard, keep it simple and direct.. She LOVES her little pull out couch, she must be able to chill out on it, she feels safe using it.. Play time is as important as resting although it is a little alarming how puffed out she gets so quickly..again, the breed has compromised breathing issues, and that's something to be very aware of.. So, if you have kids they MUST understand this little bundle of happiness has her limits.. Dear, funny little dog, she is such a treasure.

25.01.2022 I just found this video from earlier this year.. This amazing biggest friend has a rapport with kittens we've not seen before.. Amazingly gentle, the kittens are just drawn to her..... YP Puppy Rescue..kindness is our culture..

25.01.2022 Well.. Didn't see that coming.. Yesterday, Roxi basically slept all day, but so did the others, it rained all day, it was a sleepy kind of day..... The day before, in the sunshine Roxi had a wonderful day, in and out of our big shed with Greg, laying in the warmth on large comfy beds, and she was full of happiness, galumping around like a big rocking horse.. This morning, Roxi didn't want to get out of bed, so we left her there, I get it, a quiet morning in bed, but she stayed there for a lot longer than I was happy with.. So, I went up to the bedroom and asked her to come out... It didn't take me long to realise that all was not well with our biggest friend... I rang our vets pretty well straight away, and god love them, they made an appointment for her so we could get her looked at by her vet, Dr. Prue, quickly.. Bottom line is.. Roxi is booked in for surgery on Friday morning.. It looks like a nasty cancerous lump has emerged and it's made her tummy and back end tender and swollen.. THIS is how fast it has made her go downhill, and whilst she was licking the area a little yesterday, the day before, nothing.. I notice even the smallest changes in her usually, but this has taken me by surprise.. As Greg said tonight, it just brings home how vulnerable Roxi really is.. Roxi will be having a chest and stomach x-ray to see if there's any cancers spreading that we can't see.. Don't forget, she came to us absolutely riddled with mammary cancer, mast cell tumours and spots in her lungs.. (this is what happens, mammary cancer metastasises) We have medications to give her, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics, ready for the surgery.. Blah.. I KNOW she has cancer, but she's been so incredibly bright and happy... She ate a good dinner, but wanted me to hand feed her, which is perfectly fine by me.. Please keep our biggest friend in your thoughts... Surgery is always something we take very seriously and is NEVER undertaken unless there is a high chance of a good outcome.. Beautiful girl.. Please be ok.

25.01.2022 Beautiful big palliative care dog, Roxi, takes the little rescue kittens under her care, she adores them..so gentle and kind, she is such a sweetheart.. we celebrate having this gorgeous girl being with us for over a year, a small tribute to a wonderful girl who has won hearts everywhere..

24.01.2022 Ahhhh.. The joys of having a French Bulldog sleep in your bedroom. Lol..

23.01.2022 When Big Kev was a puppy, Pete, the ginger, and he had a loving friendship, which is still in place today, although Kevin doesn't lay around with Pete much anymore, they are still good friends.. It made me laugh, seeing Pete with "his" puppy, a funny little Chihuahua cross with giant ears and a love for a ginger kitty.. Whilst, at times, running a rescue can be so, so hard emotionally mainly, when you have this going on, when your rescue cat who you pulled from a roofspace wi...th his sister as a tiny kitten, and your rescue puppy just hang out and are so, so kind to each other, regardless of species, it just lightens the heart and brings a smile.. YP Puppy Rescue... where kindness is our culture..

23.01.2022 Extremely happy to say that Peppi is staying right where he is, after being on his 2 week trial.. This little fellow was in the Pirie pound, and Tanya took him in.. The first 24 hours, we wondered what we had on our hands, as he was not getting along with anyone, was being very reactive and just showing that he was not a happy camper..... Thanks to some quick thinking from Tanya and basically allowing Peppi to just chill out without anyone in his space, within another day, this scared little bloke started to have some fun.. he was happy to interact, he was feeling much braver.. Not saying he didn't come without his challenges, he most certainly had some bumps in his road.. As always, I take on board what my foster carers tell me, THEY are the ones looking after these dogs, and I rehome their charges accordingly.. I had a LOT of people applying for this tiny man, but so many didn't really read the write up I had for him, and I get it, small dogs are hard to find.. BUT.. I don't want to set anyone up to fail, especially the dogs, and I explain, reasonably clearly, what a particular dog will need to be settled.. He has struck gold, believe me, and his people are well versed in dogs with some characteristics which may need some handling and direction.. He was a complex little dog, we are unsure of his past, but it doesn't really matter anyway, it's his future we are interested in!! Huge thanks to Tanya and family for riding out the initial storm with Peppi, I know he wasn't an easy dog by any means but LOOK where you got him.. Thank you to his new people who adore him, plus he has bonded really well with a fuzzbutt sister, which is just brilliant.. So, you scallywag, thought you had it over on your foster Mum, didn't you? lol Ahhh Tanya is made of sterner stuff than to let a pipsqueak win! Dear Peppi, you have won doggy lotto my friend, so I suggest you just keep those manners tidy, your tail wagging and your opinions to yourself... Well done squib.. happy days.. <3

23.01.2022 When you're a little snuffleuppergus, a hot day can knock the wind out of you.. But when your foster home has lovely cool floors, you just gotta sploot!! Roxi is ok..had a 'phone consult with Dr.Prue, I took photo's of Roxis' wound site as it's pretty red, and sent them through.. We have a plan of attack, and hopefully, with less inflammation, the incontinence may decrease..or it may just be she's getting old and these things happen...... In saying that, Rox has been perfectly fine today, no accidents.. we're all in bed, and she's not had to have a change of bedding, which is great, so who knows? Pete spent quite some time with Roxi this morning, he sensed she wasn't feeling great, I guess.. Such a good cat.. Ok another day is over, there's a fair bit of snoring going on in here, it's pretty funny really.. Time for sleep.. Sweet dreams, my friends.. XxX

22.01.2022 Time for lights out.. Pete the cat just came into our bedroom and gave Roxi her nightly head boops.. Without fail, he's here, to wish his biggest friend goodnight..... Yes, I took photos and they were all blurry. Beautiful frosty faced old gal loves her bed, she's scrunched up her blankies to suit herself, and is ready to call it a day.. We're right behind her.. Sweet dreams.. XxX

22.01.2022 Everyone is getting along well, I think it's time to allow them out of the nursery and have big adventures in the main part of the house.. The tiny kittens eat their body weight in food several times a day...lol.. The Royal Canin mum and baby mousse is brilliant, I hope I can get some more next week...they have this, raw beef mince and raw turkey mince, we buy human grade meat for the tiniest ones, the kittens, and they love it...actually they sort of lap/ suck on it, and I'...ve seen a couple of the really tiny ones asleep, face first in the saucer of mince... Tomorrow, I hope to be taking some photos of the kittens available for adoption.. They won't be ready to leave for a few weeks... The REALLY tiny ones won't be ready for about 6-7 weeks at a guess.. Tomorrow is going to be stinking hot in SA, I've made large iceblocks for my chickens..water based with blueberries, watermelon, pellets and one with some mince in it too.. I have soaked a good part of their run to get the dirt cool, and I'll make sure I redo this during the day.. Bird baths and bee bowls full, everyone apart from the chooklins will be inside with the a.c. on.. I am so grateful that those who saw all of these tiny beings out in the open, brought them in, and rang us to help.. We adore them and I know there are wonderful homes out there for them all... Our kitten pre adoption form is on the website, and I'll pop a link up yo it anyway.. Zot, Zazzy, Allie and Brielle all have homes waiting for them as does the bigger floofy one and the grey boy from the other bigger kittens.. It will be easy to know who is available etc., just thought I'd share some photo's I've taken...

22.01.2022 I have shared this before, but it needs to be seen again.. This is what you can achieve with some help from a reputable trainer.. Garrett was a little bit of a challenge, but his amazing humans did what all great dog owners do... they engaged someone to help them understand their beautiful boy.. If you watch this, and listen carefully, the "command" is spoken softly, and he's like YEP YEP I do that Ma!!... Just beautiful..

21.01.2022 Baby Banjo is in with the gang in our bedroom...what's one more, right?! He wasn't going to be left alone, in the puppy room..that's just mean..... He soon found a spot near Roxi, who did tell him off when he touched her...you do NOT disturb her Maj when she's asleep....lol.. But, he's snuggled in for the night, we've got pee pads down for him, he feels safe and that's the main thing ... He was missing his sister, but settled well, dear little chap.. Another stupidly busy day.. Time for lights out here.. Sweet dreams.. XxX

21.01.2022 Couple of videos from today.. This one was early this morning, as we had our coffee.. Suzie and Leo the kitty are good friends, but as usual, being a pup, Suzie will push the boundaries..... When she started getting rough with Leo, she was told off and she stopped straight away.. When she went back in the same position, watch what she does.. Instead of trying to grab him, back and forth.. She was grabbing the cover on the bed and pulling at that instead.. I could tell she reeaalllyyy wanted to touch Leo like she was doing before when she got told off, but, she made the right choice, and took her frustration out on the bed.. Lol.. I laughed when he would just touch her, and she'd fall off. Drama queen.. Yes, I can see the place needs a vacuum.. It's Monday.. Be kind.. Lol

21.01.2022 So.. Today, this gorgeous little fellow embarked on a very important mission!! All of our rescues, whether it's an older dog, puppy or kitten, fill a space in someone's life and heart, often when the person hasn't even realised there was a space which needed to be filled..... All of them are loved, especially chosen by their human for lots of reasons. Now and then, I am asked for a rescue which will fulfill a special role.. And so this adoption came about.. A young man, turning 18, who had been asking for a puppy for a long time.. But it needed to be a bit special, this puppy.. Confident without being unapproachable, affectionate, easy to get along with and happy.. Well then.. As it happened.. We had one cream coloured fuzzy faced little fellow who I thought, would tick every box..and more.. So today, our beautiful, happy and sweet, sweet boy met his new human, and going by the reaction in the video, there's going to be an amazing bond, a lifetime friendship, that started that very minute.. Remember your lovely manners gorgeous boy.. Be very brave, it was a big day for you.. We adored you, you were so much fun to have around.. Be good little bloke.. Bye bye now... XxX

20.01.2022 Little Banjo, now " Chewy" ( Chewbecca!) has gone to his new home.. and he is going to make a HUGE difference to a young mans' life.. Really, I don't need to explain it.. And yes, I have authority to show this..... Get your tissues ready..

20.01.2022 These two, sharing the morning sun.. Pete and his smallest friend, Big Kev, aka Kevin..also known as KEV-IN!! ..when he's naughty..lol YP Puppy Rescue...kindness is our culture..

19.01.2022 Winx is so clever.. This drinking fountain is in the kitchen and Winx has worked it out VERY quickly.. When she drinks from a bowl she takes a couple of gulps, snuffles, swallows, gulps then goes back for another mouthful and repeat...this is all because of the way she's made, that little squished in face is quite hard to not get water up the nose when drinking from a bowl..... What she has figured out is she can drink from the moving water, and drink well, without coughing, snorting or gagging whilst actually quenching her thirst.. Amazing.

19.01.2022 Whilst it may seem there's not much going on here , as you would know by now, that's probably not 100% right.. Two new dogs came into the rescue, seized under the Animal Welfare Act, and we're going to bring one of them here, to home base.. I'm not saying too much as to their wherabouts right now, but they will have their photo's taken soon and I'll introduce them to you.... Young dogs, around 12 months old, I'm hoping the girl will settle ok with us, and she will get some m...uch needed one on one and care.. The male has been having, and will continue to have some close and steady training as he's scared of men..we do know of one beating that he's had, so he's a work in progress.. Roxi is going quite well, there's just something worrying me with her, I'll be ringing our vet in the morning to discuss.. Nothing dreadful, believe me, she'd be there if I was that worried.. She's happy, eating well and even got up a really good rocking horse action today which is her version of extreme happiness and glee.. But... I'm seeing something which is causing me some concern, Greg sees it too, so not just over protective Ma imagining things.. We are also going to be welcoming a very special little girl later in the week, a 2 year old with some special needs, and whilst there will be challenges, I know we'll manage her well and find her a wonderful home.. On that note.. Is there a preferred " halo" used for blind dogs? I've been googling, and there seems to be quite a few different types.. If you're wondering what I'm on about.. https://pawsplanetshop.com//walkin-halo-harness-blind-harn If you have any experience using one of these, please tell me, the pros and the cons.. And you thought I was sat knitting or something... Lol Not in this lifetime!!

17.01.2022 Well, I was chatting with Amy, Little Claws Rescue, last night, saying we didn't have any kittens yet, unlike Amy, who has quite a few.. Ha! These teenie weenies are under 2 weeks old, and Mumma cat, unowned, had not been seen for a couple of days...she had been attentive, with the property owner, whilst unsuccessful, several times, catching her, was leaving food for the little one, knowing there were kittens..... Sadly, she hasn't returned, and the feeling was something has happened to her.. I agreed to bring them in as hand rearing 7 newborns is time consuming, but with Greg and I doing it, it's not too bad really.. There are a couple of gingers, 2 ginger and white, 2 tabbies and a tiny, tiny calico.. the little calico has me worried, she's really, really tiny and not breathing that well.. You know, we can only do our best.. I am hoping it's enough.. So, we welcome the 7 tiniest kittens, With love.. XxxxxxX

17.01.2022 To be nominated for this is incredibly humbling, and whilst I don't know who nominated me, I read what was sent in, and seriously, it brought tears to my eyes.. Goodness, this is such an honour, and I am nearly finished doing my nomination details.. The last part of it is asking for reviews OR testaments from people who I have dealt with, so, adopters, and your experience with the rescue and myself, or even if you have rung up and had a chat, and you enjoyed the chin wag, an...ything that you think might be relevant.. I would need to copy and paste an email with your name in it, obviously, so if you don't mind doing that, send it through to [email protected] please.. My nomination has been placed in The Heart Award SPONSORED BY: Hallett Law For a business that has at it’s heart the needs of their local community (eg. Social enterprise/not for profit/community organisation). it's a thrill just to be there, and I treasure the fact somebody took the time to say hey, this woman is ok, I'm nominating her.. :) Thanks..xx

16.01.2022 Roxi has left to go to hospital for the day.. X-rays first to see what's going on... Then hopefully, surgery..... Rox had a good day yesterday, ate a big dinner ( I may have given her more to get some reserves in for today) and she spent a lot of time lounging around outside, enjoying the sunshine, breeze in her face.. I gave her hugs and kisses as she sat in the car, told her she needed to be very brave.. So, now we wait...

16.01.2022 He LOVES Roxi...and is respecting her space already.. What a good little bub.. ( he has a home waiting for him)

15.01.2022 Today, little Miss Winx had a date with Dr. Prue, and to say she won everyones' hearts at the clinic is an understatement.. This fabulous little dog reacted beautifully to everyone who spoke to her, she went forward for that touch she seeks, and absolutely soaked up all of the attention.. A credit to her previous owner, for rearing a happy, brave and social dog, in spite of her obvious lack of sight.. Winx has made some huge steps forwards, just in the short time she has been...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Banjo was very happy to make friends with Roxi ... One in her twilight.. One at the beginning of his adventures..... Just beautiful...

14.01.2022 This amazing little girl is Big Kevs' sister!! We love our relationship with Australian Lions Hearing Dogs, having THIRTEEN of our rescue dogs and puppies go through their amazing training centre.. Becoming a hearing dog not only is a way for hard of hearing or deaf people to know if the smoke alarm goes off, or the 'phone rings..these dogs give their people an independence possibly never experienced before..many describe their dogs as " the best thing that has ever happened"... to them.. And to know, in some small way, that we have assisted in this wonderful freedom of living, make my heart so happy.. Rescue dogs.. They reach for the moon and take the stars with them..

14.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/ILoveADog Our friends at I Love a Dog would love to hear from any business/forward thinking vet/holistic vet/pet supply store/pet food shop, anyone, who would like to become a distributor in SA for their AMAZING products.. You've seen me sing the praises of these supplements, I SWEAR by them, we have seen, with our own eyes, the benefits of giving these to our dogs..... Roxi has been on the Turkey Tail Mushroom powder for a little while now, and think what you may, but her cancer, which had been seen as active and in her LUNGS, has NOT spread or become ANY worse.. there will be flare ups at times, BUT considering what we all saw on the X-rays, she's doing well, as she was riddled with it, including the mammary cancer.. I could go on and on about each one, as we have used/are using many of them, and always, without doubt, see the improvements.. There's a lot to be said for natural and high quality supplements, they don't need much, and you can be really making a difference.. So, please contact Donna directly if you are keen to have these in YOUR shop.. Take a look at the fabulous product available.. https://iloveadog.com.au/dog-natural-health-store

13.01.2022 Took this late last night..my 'phone was almost kaput.. I had popped Winx back onto her bed 4 times, but she tottered off and went back next to Roxie.. Now, Rox is not completely thrilled about Winx being here, and she knew Winx was on her bed..but was fine with that..... That's nice to see, because Winx really needed to be on that bed for some reason..

13.01.2022 As per my plea 3 days ago, PLEASE, no more donations to help Bonnie get back to Scotland.. We have more than enough, and your generosity knows no bounds.. I am MORE than happy to refund any donations made for the sole purpose of getting Bonnie to Scotland which have been made since I posted we had $12,150.. I will think NOTHING less of you, as I do NOT wish anyone to feel they are being ripped off, or that their money will not be used for the REASON INTENDED....... Just message me via this page with your bank details....I am serious, as the LAST thing I want to happen is anyone feeling as though their money is not going to be used for the very purpose I did the fund raiser.. complete and utter anonymity assured.. You have donated.. GET THIS.... $20, 902.61 You read that right.. TWENTY THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND TWO DOLLARS, SIXTY ONE CENTS. A flood of donations came in on Monday and there were some this morning too.. In a world full of trouble and strife..where there is some fear and solitude is now the norm.. where people can feel isolated, alone and maybe wondering where the love has gone.. We have the YPPR Village.. Thank you.. a million times over.. thank you..

13.01.2022 Here's a quick look at the fabulous photos' in the Moonta Dog Obedience 2021 Calendar!

13.01.2022 Feeding kittens; Obviously, when they are very young, they need a good, nutritious milk replacement if Mum isn't around... We prefer "Wombaroo", as it has species specific milk powders, not just a "one fits all" milk replacement.....Continue reading

11.01.2022 We welcomed three little fellows into the rescue today.. They are around 5 weeks old, sweet little blokes who are mixed breeds, and will probably be a medium size when all grown up.. They are NOT available for adoption yet, we get to know them, and once they are old enough, they'll be popped up for adoption..... Our puppies are always healthy and well balanced.. desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed ( already done once) flea treated, they are loved, have basic manners and are all dressed up in their new gear ..a bag packed with their night time teddies, a blanket, toys, treats, free Advocate and Drontal wormer, adoption pack with all the relevant paperwork supplied.. ALL of this plus a gorgeous puppy for $625.. Please don't apply for them yet..

11.01.2022 Sad to say, the tiniest , tiniest kitten has not made it.. She stopped feeding...she was listless and I could hear her rattly little chest.. I managed to get a small amount of milk into her, but she brought it all back up..... When they are THIS little, failing to thrive is sadly, not uncommon.. I was worried about her from the start...we can only do our best.. Sometimes it's just not enough.. Had her checked over at the vets, and in spite of her being on a heat disc, her temperature was really low.. She went down hill quickly.. At least she didn't pass away out in the scrub somewhere ..she was loved, albeit briefly.. Fly high tiny wildling...you certainly won't be alone.. Fly free little baby girl... Yet another tiny star in the night sky..

11.01.2022 Another new face in the rescue.. This little fellow is a Jack Russell cross, and is 5 years old.. A little bit wary/timid at first, but once he knows you want to be his friend, his personality will start to shine through.... A little tolerance and gentle guidance will help him feel safe and loved, he's a bit bewildered as to the huge change in his life, so some cuddles once he's settled a bit, won't go astray.. ... He is a dog who enjoys tummy rubs too, so a bit of a cuddler once he feels ok.. He LOVES kids, and has been brought up with them, he slept on the bed of the little girl of the family who owned him, and he is tolerant and kind with children, which is lovely to know.... of course, supervision is always warranted, and the kids need to allow him some space.. This little fellow loves chasing birds, he's a typical terrier; he is pretty active, and loves going for walks and swims down the beach...but ON the lead, as he may well chase after seagulls in the water !! He is a clever dog, he learns quickly and enjoys treats, a pretty happy fellow once he is settled.. On a hot day, a hose down is always fun, and he will chase the water for a bit of a game, so he knows how to cool off! One thing though, he does NOT enjoy the company of other dogs, and he MUST go as an only dog... he has never lived with another dog and will get his cranky pants on if he has to share his space with one of his kind, so PLEASE do not apply for him if you already have a dog...doesn't matter how friendly YOUR dog might be, this bloke is unimpressed by up close and personal.. He is NOT suitable for a sedentary lifestyle and he will climb wire mesh fencing.... someone home with him would be a bonus, preferable, really, and whilst he is fine to be outside, he also LOVES coming in, which is important, they need to be a part of the family unit.. He really is a kind, funny little guy, you just have to get to know him, and him, you.. nobody is perfect, but working with him and building that bond will see you have a wonderful, loyal little mate.. His adoption fee is $595.. De-sexed, Vaccinated C5, microchipped, wormed, flea treated...a new collar, lead, harness and a seat belt extender.. A minimum 2 weeks trial for you both to suss each other out, and a full refund of the adoption fee if he comes back within the agreed trial time.. The pre adoption form is here: https://www.yppuppyrescue.com/pre-adoption-form and we welcome TOBY ( already named) With love.. 'xxx

10.01.2022 Looks like it's time for sleep!! I won't be arguing with that! Lights out here..... Sweet dreams XxX

09.01.2022 Clever babies..

08.01.2022 Winx was in her ELEMENT this afternoon when she finally found someone who would play with her!! The pups have been hanging out with the gang, having so much fun... This afternoon, baby Sploot, the little girl, engaged Winx and played well with her...Winx doesn't " chase", she just bounces around, sometimes going forwards, but she's smart enough to not run...... They had a blast, with Banjo, the boy, just sitting back watching..then towards the end he thought he might join in... I called Winx over to just get her to reconnect with me, she was becoming super excited, as was Sploot, so I asked Winx to come and settle...which she did... Winx is exceptionally receptive to voice control and I generally touch her as well, give a pat or a scruff behind her ears, just to enforce how happy I am with her..and she loves it.. She is very easily settled if she becomes over stimulated, and a hand gently on her back with the command " steady" will see her immediately do that.. It's hard, sometimes, to realise that Winx has never seen our world..she doesn't know what a car is, but enjoys a ride in one...she loves everybody, if they give her the time of day, this dear sweet dog will respond so nicely....yet she has never seen one of us....she gets as much info as she can about her surrounds, and it's up to us to ensure nothing is moved to block her usual paths as she is pretty confident once she feels secure..and struts along, listening for cues as to where everyone is going.. She's so good, that if I'm up in the chook run, she'll just chill out on a dog bed, until she hears me coming toward her again..of course, I always tell her what a good girl she is and I get that big smiling face looking up at me.. But this afternoon, she was beside herself with glee.. Because somebody played with her.. It's often the small things which bring such happiness.. Something as simple as another one of her species engaging, barking and obviously enjoying her reactions , gave this gorgeous little blind dog exactly what she had been searching for.. A friend. Bless them.

07.01.2022 I just sat myself down in the kitten nursery and turned the 'phone onto video.. It's just nice to sit..and watch these little beings..their play makes me laugh, they are so inquisitive, bouncy, cheeky.. So, what I film, you see..no posh editing ( I wouldn't even know how to) ..it's just me...my 'phone...and 4 beautiful little balls of floof..... These babies have homes waiting for them, which is wonderful.. Whilst there is a lot of heartache with kitten season, there's also happiness, when we can rescue tiny, tiny innocents..get all their vet work done, and hand them over to their loving people.. So, here's the 4 older kittens, what you see is what you get, here..my filming skills are not my strong point..lol.. YP Puppy Rescue..where kindness is our culture..

07.01.2022 Then of course, there are the kittens.. My goodness, they are cute.. Yeah, yeah, still no vacuuming done here either.....

07.01.2022 Roxi is going well, considering major surgery only 24 hours ago.. Slept most of the day, but has made efforts to go out to toilet.. she's a bit staggery but it must be pretty sore ...of course she has pain relief, but I don't doubt she's still pretty tender.. I've put throw rugs on the floor as she was slipping a bit on the tiles, and that's not good..but, we figured that out pretty quickly, and all good now..... Major surgery is never nice, for people or for animals, but resting and repairing will see Roxi feeling better each day...it's good for her to have some gentle walking around as well .. Certainly no loss of appetite, but she does want me to help her, and that's ok, I'm happy to do that.. Pete the cat has checked in on Roxi several times throughout the day, and he was with her last night at lights out too.. Just want to thank you for your support in helping us cover Roxis' surgery.. Once again, you've circled the wagons, it's truly, truly a beautiful thing to know you have our backs.. Don't ever underestimate YOU .. And what you mean to this rescue.. Liking sharing, donating, whatever it is you do, you are a vital and very much appreciated cog in this wheel.. I won't lie , I'm pretty tired...woke up it seemed, a bazillion times last night checking on Roxi, making sure she was ok and comfy.. Biggest, bravest friend, if only she knew how much so many cared about her...I tell her every night, just as I used to with Neo, as I make sure, every night, that I give her a hug, tell her how much she's loved, and plant a kiss goodnight on that big broad head.. She's a superstar, and that cat, well, he's just something else..

07.01.2022 Banjo, Sploots' brother, has met the other dogs previously, the pups and the gang have all spent time together...outside mainly.. Well tonight, little bloke was making friends with the matriarch, and this happened... I don't know if it's because I'm really tired, but this makes me laugh..... His reaction was priceless.. Trumpet dog, indeed..

07.01.2022 YOU'VE DONE IT!! WITH LOADS TO SPARE.. NO MORE DONATIONS ARE NEEDED.. OUR VILLAGE IS THE BEST... I LOVE YOU GUYS, SERIOUSLY..THANK YOU ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 After a crazy couple of days, today, I just needed to gather my thoughts and have a bit of time out.. This included spending some lovely time just taking some random photos.. I may, or may not, have had a nanna nap this afternoon..... Lol.. Our hand reared kittens will be up for adoption this week..they are AMAZING babies, even if I do say so myself!! Little boys and tiny girls, they are just beautiful.. They won't be ready for a few weeks, but we love to know our precious once wildlings, have safe and loving people excitedly awaiting adoption day. Plus, we can agree to bring more waifs in, knowing the kittens we have, will have their own happily ever after.. It's been a whirlwind couple of days, and I cannot thank you enough for enabling the very best outcome.. More donations are coming in in spite of me asking for no more...lol..we'll figure it all out, main thing is, one family will have their loved dog with them when they head for home, which is Scotland.. I'll give you a running total, and we can discuss what we need to do with all the extra donations!! Hope you like this handful of shots I took today.. Our home is just full of love for them all..

06.01.2022 Roxi has been sleeping off the anaesthetic, under the watchful eye of her best friend.. Dr. John at Seaside Vet removed the huge lump which was under Roxis' skin, only a small lump above the skin was evident...once Roxi was opened up, the size of it was evident.. This has been sent off for further testing, and Dr.John took good margins around it, so fingers crossed ..... The relief of being told her lungs and tummy area were clear was like a massive emotional tidal wave, as there's cancer in the lungs but nothing has become any worse... I have been giving Roxi natural supplements which I believe have been an important part of her fight against the cancers which invaded her body.. These never replace veterinary advice and intervention, but can work side by side..I make sure Dr. Prue is well aware of what I'm giving Roxi ..thank you to Donna, I Love a Dog for providing excellent quality products which we have been using for a while now.. So, our beautiful biggest friend is home, she's eaten a good dinner and is now back on her huge Henry Hottie bed..knowing that even her bed is therapeutic, free of nasty chemicals and odours, we are giving her every chance to live a full life, in comfort and with natural and medical assistance!! We move heaven and earth for our rescues who need us like this, and believe me, having you right behind us is what pushes us along at times.. Tonight, one ginger cat, who met us at the door when we brought Roxi home, is so very happy that his biggest friend is home.. He's not the only one..

06.01.2022 This FABULOUS cat pole, made by O's Poles, and very kindly donated by Alison, is Petes' favourite place.. All of the cats love it, but Pete can usually be found in one of the large cyclinders.. Seriously good quality, we'll get another at least one, just it's been hard for the maker to source the products he uses, right now..... In the meantime, Pete claims his spot in the giant pole..

06.01.2022 The youngest kittens are coming along well, they had some time in the nursery today, get those little legs strong and working!! The older 4 kittens were mesmerised with the 6 weenies, the latter were ok for a little while, but were glad to get back into their crate.. Seriously, they are such innocent tiny, tiny beings..... Their lives literally in our hands, we marvel at their determination and wonderful little characters.. Funny, sweet tiny creatures, starting to be like " real" cats, washing themselves, play fighting and exploring... You don't have to be a " cat person", you just have to be a decent human being if you find tiny kittens with or without their Mumma.. It's not their fault they are unloved and homeless....it never, ever is.. Dear tiny beings, you are delightful, and loved very much..

05.01.2022 Bonnie has gone home.. Her extremely happy family came and picked her up.. Bonnie went NUTS when she saw who it was... her tail nearly flew off, and those kids were so, so happy.. Mum and I were blubbering messes, it has been a raw, emotional time.....Continue reading

05.01.2022 Look who has been desexed, and is recovering beautifully at home now.. Nala.. She was the Mumma to the 11 gorgeous puppies we had recently..... Beautiful girl, we all fell in love with her, didn't we? She was an absolute joy to have around.. Credit to her people..

03.01.2022 Who doesn't love a present?!! Thank you so much Animal Rescues Appeal... The love and gifts wrapped up from Karen Mitchell, Lindy Wall, Susan, Beverley Alan and Chez Guy Small Animal Rescue was so gladly accepted..... Thanks guys.. Knowing we were thought of, is heartwarming..

03.01.2022 Our home..well, our lives, are usually bordering on something akin to chaos.. We have several rescues in our home, we have 2 pups and 10 kittens, a blind dog and a palliative care dog.. then, we have our own pets; dogs, cats and my chooks!! Organising more rescues, basically, making sure everything is ticking along..... Then add, you know, life... We do get very tired, and there are days I am really dragging my *bleep* around, and sometimes, I feel like I'm going around in circles.. Nothing major...just getting old...lol Then.. I unzip the top of the kitten crate and see these tiny orphans..all with full tummies, snuggling down for the night, with their tiny teddies..ready to dream kitteny dreams of warm, frothy milk, expeditions on the couch and adventures aplenty..all safe and loved...not a worry in the world.. I wish all kittens could dream of warm frothy milk but, we try and do our bit, and save what we can.. So, goodnight tiny, beautiful little beings.. We'll see you in the morning....with that warm, frothy milk..

02.01.2022 Ok.. So I have news in regards to these 2 bubs.. After having them for only a short time, it was very obvious that the little girl, whom I've named Sploot, is super active, intelligent and very responsive to direction..... The little boy, Banjo is pretty much the same but not as revved up as his sister.. a bit more laid back.. Sploot and Banjo settled in very quickly, and soon discovered that whining and howling...yes, howling..would get them zero attention but HEY!!Look at this!! When we're quiet, Nanny comes right on into the puppy nursery and we get hugs and play time! That took no time at all and they settled in beautifully..can self soothe and not demand my attention.. Clever babies.. Sploot has quite a "drive", she's so tuned in to her surrounds and takes everything in.. Therefore.. Sploot will be on her way to hopefully become an accredited assistance dog for Australian Lions Hearing Dogs late next week.... She NEEDS structure, training and that quick little brain to be fulfilled with quests and jobs to do.. A foster family for Lions will take her in initially, they play such an important role in helping to shape these pups and dogs, and when ready, Sploot will go to the training centre in Verdun, where MANY of our pups and dogs have gone before her.. I know she'll smash it, this girl has big things to achieve.. So, Banjo.. Very intelligent too, loving, sweet and just not quite so devil may care as his sister... Beautiful puppy.. Banjo will also be holding a very special "role"... of very best friend for a young man..supported by his family, of course, but his dream to care for his own puppy is turning into a reality...and this puppy is the perfect little bloke to help make a special young man smile.. I know it's disappointing for many that these 2 won't be up for public adoption.. But their roles have been chosen for them.. And I know they're going to be just perfect..

02.01.2022 One of the 4 week old hand reared kittens.. her tummy is full of warm milk, she's had a play, and now, it's time to dream kitteny dreams... They will be going into the nursery this weekend! Out of the neo natal crate set up, and onto some solids too.. But, for now..... it's time for one tiny, tiny being to rest.. See more

02.01.2022 Great news.. Vet Nurse Lauren from Seaside Vet rang to say Roxi has had her x-rays, and all is clear for the surgery to go ahead.. The lump she has IS a nasty cancer, but it is not from her bladder, and is going to be removed.... It's not just on the surface, there's quite a lump under it, so, it's a big surgery, but absolutely vital we get rid of it..... As already stated, we do not take any surgery lightly.. Our vets are experts, they have the steady hands and the knowledge to tackle whatever is in front of them, but they will not put a dog through invasive surgery unless they deem the result to be a better outcome for that dog.. To be told that Roxis' x-rays were all clear, that it is a green light to get that cancer out is wonderful news.. Her heart is strong, her lungs are strong... When you have Dr. Prue and Dr. John on your side, you know that our precious girl is in the very best of hands.. I may have burst into tears at the news that the cancers have not taken her over, and that she can have the operation... We can exhale... Thank you for all your beautiful messages of love, of hope, of support.. I also would like to thank those who have donated towards Roxis' surgery without me even asking, I wanted to wait until we knew it was going ahead before I asked for some help, as the last thing I want to do is have your money and then surgery is called off.. This year has been especially hard, financially ( as well as emotionally, my goodness!) and there are a LOT of people really struggling, so this has had a ripple affect to charities who generally rely on the generosity of others to cover some expenses.. YPPR is NO different.. IF you can spare a few dollars to help with the cost of Roxis' surgery, that would be brilliant.. yes, our vets give us great discount, of COURSE they do, but, a little leg up would be great.. If you can't, you do NOT feel guilty, ok?? I get it, I really do, and your love and support is worth a million dollars.. I will do a follow up post once we get our darling girl home.. Thanks again.. <3 Rescue account; BANK SA. BSB - 105-004 ACCOUNT NO - 080 040 540 ACCOUNT NAME - YP Puppy Rescue we are a registered charity, CCP 2425.

02.01.2022 Delighted to say, beautiful boy OSKA has found his happily ever after.. This handsome dude came from the Port Pirie pound, where Bianca went to pick him up and has been giving him some training and guidance... It worked!!... This gorgeous hunk of dog has won doggy lotto, believe me, and his new people are amazing... giving Oska the home and the love he deserves... allowing him to belong, to feel safe....to feel wanted and worthy of the affection being given to him.. Can't ask for much more than that!! Thanks, Bianca, for getting Oska ready to go and do his thing, he's done you proud.. Thanks to his lovely new people, my goodness, this is one lucky dog.. Well done bloke, you have a place to lay your head.. and it looks like it's on that humans' bed.. lol Happy days.. <3

02.01.2022 Had a little musical beds happening tonight.. But, everyone is fast asleep now, and we'll have a chat to Dr. Prue about Roxi tomorrow, as she seems to be slightly incontinent but only at night..she's NEVER had this problem before, and I'm wondering if it's just a weakness happening due to her surgery.. Poor darling was quite agitated, but once I gave her lovely dry blankets, and I've put pee pads under her too, Rox settled and went to sleep..... Of course all of this activity stirred little Winx up, she was wondering what all the kerfuffle was about, so I had to resettle her... We've had a lovely day, out in the garden, enjoying the sunshine...I love pottering around, my little friends following me around, or laying on one of the many beds in the shade.. Winx is very clever.. I placed a small dog bed under the verandah and when I'm busy and she's not right there with me, she will plonk herself in the bed knowing I'll be back soon.. I am learning a LOT having Winx here, talking to her is fine, but giving her manual cues is also important..like when everyone is milling around, making noise especially... and I see her trying to figure out where I am, I'll gently touch under her chin..she's like OH GREAT!! You ARE there!! Everything I do with her to communicate, I'll pass on to whomever ends up taking her on trial, as it's imperative some things remain the same when she has another move.. But for now, the house is quiet, everyone is sleeping, and it's just about time for the humans to get some rest too.. Nighty night .. Sweet dreams..

01.01.2022 Today, the last of the 4 siblings, ( Zot, Zazzy, Brielle) Allie, now Charlie, left us to become a friend of another YPPR kitty adopted a year ago! We love it when adopters return to add to their family, it's really nice.. Charlie is a cheeky, confident kitten, who still loves to be cuddled and made a fuss over..... She has a gorgeous human family to get to know, and hopefully, Charlie and Sydney will be bestest friends soon.. Sweet little girl, such a delight to have around, you are quite a little lady... Stay safe little one... Always loved.. XxX
