13.01.2022 One of the little newbies who's been following me around the garden. The nature strips around the garden make the survival rate of the young birds so much better. That little bit of shelter pays huge dividends. In return they snap up all the little bugs from around the the veggie garden. who needs spray.....................

10.01.2022 People will be able to climb the iconic Bluff Knoll walk trail in Stirling Range National Park from 8am Friday May 22, following four months of work to repair e...xtensive bushfire damage. More than 50 tonnes of material were brought in manually and by helicopter, with only hand tools used to replace all steps and water bars on the trail and install a new 5.5 metre pedestrian bridge about halfway along the trail. The height of the new steps has been decreased to make the trail easier to climb and more family friendly. Mt Trio and Mt Toolbrunup walk trails and access roads in the park will open on 8am Saturday May 23. Stirling Range Ridge Walk including Ellen Peak will remain closed for the rest of the year, and Toll Peak picnic area and Moingup Springs campground and picnic area remain closed for the foreseeable future. These areas were severely impacted by fire.

03.01.2022 Need a post-lockdown breath of fresh air while still social distancing? Almost five months after it was extensively damaged by a bushfire that tore through a ...third of Stirling Range National Park, the trail at Bluff Knoll has been repaired and will reopen to hikers on Friday morning. At 1,099 metres high, Bluff Knoll is southern WA’s highest peak and affords stunning 360 degree views of the national park, but repairing the trail was no small feat. Over 50 tonnes of building material was brought in either by helicopter and or by hand, and workers had to use hand tools to rebuild the steps and pedestrian bridge. The bluff takes three to four hours to climb and is one of few places in Western Australia where snow falls in winter. Albany MP Peter Watson said he hoped the popular trail’s reopening would bring in more trade to the area. It has been a difficult time for tourism businesses in this region who provide accommodation, food and recreational opportunities for tourists who visit Stirling Range National Park, he said.
