22.01.2022 Sometimes you go with your gut feeling, and you’re right. I made this post on my @thesupercolliesmom Instagram account. I feel it’s important to share on Faceb...ook too.. I’m calm enough now to share what I just experienced. For some it might not be that scary, but for me. A 115lb blonde girl traveling alone. It was. I went outside to let the dogs go potty and started with Hawkeye. I noticed a man circle back behind us and then proceed to go to the front of my van, like a vulture. I quickly swapped Hawkeye ( my smallest dog ) for Marvel. When the man came around the side of me van I was ready. He started mumbling hey pretty lady and by the time he finished saying lady... I had cued marvel to Watch and she followed through like a fucking champ. Marvel was at the end of her 6f leash barking and snapping at the strange man. He quickly flung his arms in the arm and started to say he didn’t want any trouble. As we had trained in the past I started to walk into him and he backed up. I yelled my dog will bite you and he kept backing away from us. This situation ended within 6 minutes of me noticing the man. I am so thankful for the training I did with Marvel even if it was just for fun. She held her ground and was ready to act if the man came any closer to us. I have a lot to be grateful for tonight. So so much.

22.01.2022 Tuesday update: We’ve had a huge response and will be making our way through the submissions ASAP. We are so grateful for the community support to get our blo...od stocks to adequate levels to service this busy time of year + URGENT HELP NEEDED + After an especially horrific weekend in our ICU, we are down to our very last bag of blood and desperately need to obtain more from donor dogs. Can your dog save a life this week? Donor dogs need to be: + Over 25kg + Between 2 and 8 years of age + Up to date on Vaccines and Heartworm prevention and in good health, including a healthy weight. In return, your dog receives a thorough physical examination, comprehensive blood testing, and an $80 Petbarn voucher. If your dog isn't eligible to donate, we'd still really appreciate if you'd share this with your friends or community group in the hope that we can get adequate stocks to last over the busy Christmas period. To register your dog to give the most important gift this Christmas, please contact Cat Edgar on [email protected] or by calling 3456 0500.

20.01.2022 HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A DOG WITH A YELLOW RIBBON TIED TO THEIR COLLAR? If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon tied to their collar, do not approach it, pet or other...wise bother them in any way. While it's a good idea to take this stance with any dog you're not familiar with, The Yellow Dog Project is a global movement trying to popularize the use of yellow ribbons as a way to educate and alert people about dogs who need their space. Yellow Dogs are not necessarily aggressive or dangerous, but might have issues with fear or be in pain due to recent surgery. If approached, such a dog could snap, growl or become anxious and stressed, which is what the yellow ribbon is intended to prevent. The Yellow Dog Project was founded in 2013 to support dogs who are anxious and may display reactive behaviors if approached. The color yellow was chosen for ribbons because it's widely understood as a cautionary color. In addition to dogs who may be fearful or in pain, dogs wearing yellow ribbons may be rescue or shelter dogs who have behavioral problems they haven't yet overcome. They may also be dogs in training to be work or service dogs. http://www.theyellowdogproject.com/Home.html

15.01.2022 Stop feeding mince to magpies! Snake and bird re-locator Lana Field says feeding them raw mince can cause all sorts of health dramas "Mince is actually really... high in the wrong nutrients and when they eat it, it draws calcium from their bones. The other thing that happens is it can get stuck in the bottom of their beak, and it can actually rot a hole in their beak." Pass it on! : Daniel Sutton

09.01.2022 This evening (5.24pm) a German Shepherd attacked my dog Basil, whilst my dog was leaded, at kedron brook, Brisbane, QLD. It wasnt instigated, we were walking m...inding our own business walking. This happened near thistle st bridge. The dog pinned my dog (miniature spoodle) on its back, and my dog was crying and squealing for his life. For me the adrenaline kicked in and I fought to save my dog. I nudged the dog with my foot with no success and then I quickly jumped down, and got between the dog and my dog, and was able to cradle my dog, and scoop my dog up. In the short space of time that the dog was pinned on mine the dog punctured my dog with his teeth, and we are now at the emergency vet. The owners were slow to react and it took two of them to hold it down. The photo here is of the owners. The owners took zero responsibility for what happened. And said that my dog needed training because he apparently made a noise at their dog. A witness came and spoke to me as I was walking back and told me the GS dog attacked another dog (a 4 month old Kelpie) as soon as they let him go again. Please let me know if you know this dog and their owners as they need to pay for our vet bill. Please help me find this dog and owners before the dog kills a dog or worse still - a child!!!! Please everyone, if your dog is aggressive keep it on a lead, stay away from other dogs and people, and put a muzzle on. Please contact me via this page or Kelly Mac Eanruig with any information. Confidentiality assured.

02.01.2022 Just so people know THESE are the rules that enforced by the council. You can be fined for having your dog be WORRYING to someone else. Stop bringing untrained, unfriendly and aggressive dogs to parks. Do your part as a dog owner and get them trained and socialised, stop telling me that your dog aggressive dog has every right to be at the park. They deserve to be here with these other dogs SO HELP THEM but they do not they have the right to be here if they are potentially a threat and this message comes from nothing but love because you are also putting your dogs life at risk every time you do this. Do better. *EDIT: Snapping & being scared/anxious etc. and being an aggressive dog that isnt friendly is completely different*
