17.01.2022 Sunset along the Pali at Hanalei, Kauai - the headland makes for an unforgettable silhouette.

13.01.2022 Some of the earliest architecture in Europe is found at Skara Brae in the Orkneys. The preservation of this Neolithic house, dating from 3,200 to 2,200 BC, was made possible by the use of local stone and the fact that the site was buried under sand dunes. We can easily see the central hearth and the stone lined beds or seats, but the use of the so-called chest of drawers is not clear.

10.01.2022 The Pali Sunset, Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii. This is the third and possibly final of my paintings of this scene. Happier with the rendition of the clouds in this sketch, although it required a change of approach and breaking the rules. But as my teacher, John Wells, says, There’s no rule book anyway. Perhaps I shall make another break and do an abstract painting in watercolour next!!
