24.01.2022 Heres a therapist in the USA who writes her own website about childhood emotional neglect. I could relate to it myself, because a lot of those things in me. It was a struggle to deal with it, because my whole life had revolved around making sure everyone else was ok and happy. I wonder if you have had those kind of issues? https://drjonicewebb.com//10-strategies-for-coping-with-c/

23.01.2022 See if you agree with this. Thats what I believe psychology should be dealing with

22.01.2022 I now practice part-time at Henty Street, as well as at the Boulevard Clinic in Thomastown. Over the years I have used a variety of therapy approaches, but I prefer to work with the person in front of me and use whatever techniques help that individual. Forming, a really therapeutic relationship between both therapist and patient is the core of psychotherapy

22.01.2022 This is true for sons, as well as daughters. Interesting to hear your comments

21.01.2022 This is important and helpful to know. See what your attachment style is!

19.01.2022 This an excellent article that gives an example of what we have to do sometimes to understand why we do what we do

19.01.2022 Men especially might find this article helpful in reinforcing that having emotions is OK and natural. You dont have to repress them!

13.01.2022 This an interesting, but hard idea to get around at first. But if you get into observing the pain or problem and not trying to make it go away, it can be quite effective. If youve done Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or mindfulness, youll understand it. Its not something you try for the first time when youre going through something. You need to practice it as a meditation on a regular basis.

12.01.2022 This is fascinating stuff. See if it works for you

11.01.2022 What do people think about this? Do you believe in personality types? Do you fall into a routine of CBT with no other options?

07.01.2022 Do you ever wonder how much a psychologist charges? Well the recommended Australian Psychological Society Fee is $238.00. If you see a clinical psychologist the Medicare Rebate at the moment is $124.50. Thats up to a maximum of ten sessions a year. Many psychologists charge more or less than that. I charge $140, unless your doctor requests bulk-billing and depending on how many other bulk-billing clients/patients I have at the time. And how do you get to see a psychologist? You need your doctor to fill in a Mental Health Care Plan. If you have private health care cover, then you can claim from your health fund.

06.01.2022 Damasio has written another book where he argues that emotions are more important than thought and we need to accept them. I believe that therapy needs to work with them before we look at our thinking!

03.01.2022 Here are a collection of techniques from a useful website which you might find helpful with managing anxiety. But remember, you have to practice them regularly for them to work!

02.01.2022 Ive been practising part-time as a Clinical Psychologist in the area, initially in Eltham, but then at Northpark, since the 1980s, whilst I was a university lecturer. Now Im retired from my academic role so now I have more time for my practice, now in Henty Street, Reservoir. I use a broad range of approaches, but based on individual peoples experience of their development and attachment to important people in their lives. Im prepared to see individuals in an acute situation, as well as long-term problems, including Worksafe and TAC clients. Having been a Psychology/Nursing academic for more than 20 years, Im also interested in the interaction between mental and physical health and am quite happy to work jointly with other health clinicians.
