24.01.2022 ADFA Virtual Open Day 17 - 22 August 2020
23.01.2022 A picture (or in this case two) can paint a thousand words Above is circa 1919 at a Spanish flu checkpoint with an #AusArmy soldier and a NSW Police Force of...ficer at Delegate NSW, and below is July 2020 at a #COVID19 checkpoint with a soldier and police officer. The Commander of Joint Task Group 629.1, Brigadier Mick Garraway was proud that the imagery displays #YourADFs commitment to supporting local authorities and communities in times of need. Ive had the honour of working closely with great people in the NSW police and various state government departments through the recent bush fire crisis and more recently in the COVID-19 response, Brigadier Garraway said. Sometimes we can fall into the trap of thinking that we were the first ones, when really what we need to do is look at our own history and well find a useful pointer, or maybe find that weve done it before. #OpCOVID19Assist
23.01.2022 #NOISEALERT || Shout out to the residents in Holsworthy and Liverpool! Some of our troops will be conducting training over the next week in your area. There wil...l be helicopters flying at night and early in the morning, at a low altitude. Please ensure you let your family, friends and any neighbours know that this training will be occurring. This training is part of #AusArmys regular training schedule and is designed to ensure #OurPeople are operating at the highest level of capability to respond where required, to support Australias national interests. We acknowledge that these activities may result in disturbances to local residents. This disruption will be minimised wherever possible. You should not be alarmed if you see low-flying helicopters or hear the associated noise. We appreciate the support of the local community during this important training period. The training is being conducted in a manner that accounts for COVID-19 restrictions and good health management processes. Individuals with concerns should contact Defence via: 1300 333 362.

20.01.2022 The 7th Combat Service Support Battalion Transport Managers Course was delivered using an exported approach on Gallipoli Barracks this week. Traditionally, Army... School of Transport courses have been delivered in Puckapunyal, Victoria, where the soldiers cannot travel to due to COVID-19. The course has undergone significant changes in 2020, with a lot of work going into development and modernisation to allow it to be delivered remotely.
20.01.2022 Medical support is a key element to what we do. Commander of the 7th Combat Brigade Brigadier Jason Blain paid a visit to the 11th Close Health Company to assess how our Army Doctors, Nurses, and Medics keep us alive on operations.
16.01.2022 Our Deputy Chief of Army, Major General Anthony Rawlins, DSC, AM, recently took the opportunity to test out his skills as a musician in the Australian Army Band.... Unlocking the full potential of #OurPeople, their hidden talents and innovative ideas is an integral part of being an #ArmyInMotion. Listen to Major General Rawlins as he drums along to ‘My Sharona’ by The Knack!

14.01.2022 Is it Anzac or ANZAC? It is generally advised that ANZAC should be used when referring to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. For other usages of t...he word (Anzac Day, Anzac Spirit, Anzac Centenary etc.), the Department of Veterans Affairs recommends Anzac. Most organisations have a preference for one or the other. 12.01.2022 #YourADF personnel are supporting Queensland Police Service at Hebel, 650 kilometres west of Brisbane, to help protect remote Indigenous communities during #OpC...OVID19Assist. During the operation, Lance Corporal Justin Wells discovered that a local resident has a direct connection to the Australian Army. We found out Tonia Ellis is the mother of Sergeant Hugh Ellis, who died in one of the nations worst peacetime military disasters, Lance Corporal Wells said. With her home overlooking the movement control point on the Queensland/New South Wales border, Mrs Ellis had been visiting the task group members with baked goods. Im delighted to have them here, so I took down some Anzac biscuits every now and then, Mrs Ellis said. Its been very healing. Ive been able to talk about things you cant talk to others about. Lieutenant Colonel Bryce Herslet, Commanding Officer of Task Group 629.3s Task Unit 1, said it was during those talks that the soldiers realised who she was. As an act of kindness, nine off-duty soldiers donated their time to transform her yard. Read the story: https://bit.ly/ArmyKindness #AusArmy
12.01.2022 21 years ago today, the first Australians from the International Force for East Timor (INTERFET) arrived in Dili to assist with the restoration of peace and sec...urity in the region. What followed was the largest deployment of Australian troops since the Vietnam War, with 5,500 #YourADF personnel contributing to the 22 nation regional force. Today, we say thank you to #OurPeople and their families for their support to the INTERFET mission. We continue to support Timor-Leste and its people, and commemorate the courage, sacrifice and solidarity shown throughout our shared history. #GoodSoldiering

09.01.2022 Young #AusArmy soldiers from the 7th Combat Service Support Battalion are driving towards the future, using their computer expertise to safely operate protecte...d mobility vehicles in a battle simulation system. From the safety of Gallipoli Barracks in Brisbane, the troop commander uploaded a driving scenario that included all the complexities of operating in the Middle East civilian pedestrians, animals, threat forces and the possibility of encountering an improvised explosive device. Through the immersive system, the user feels closer to a real-world environment, proving to be effective in honing driver skills in a safe and efficient way. Corporal Goodwin highlighted the positive reaction from the new generation of soldiers posting into the battalion. Soldiers have responded well to the training as it gets them out of the transport yard and into a relaxed environment to practise, Corporal Goodwin said. Newer soldiers in particular are more familiar with computer games so it resonates with them. Read the story: https://bit.ly/ArmyBSS Australian Army
