25.01.2022 3 weeks have already passed within our new office space and we are thrilled with it. Our clients have also welcomed the greater room and easier access to our suites not to mention the opportunity to shop/visit elsewhere within the fantastic University Hill precinct. I take the opportunity to plug the brilliant service for my paediatric clients and the wider community that is provided by my colleagues the Austin Pathology. The Austin Pathology share our space and of course... they are the not for profit pathology arm of the Austin Hospital. Their professionalism and expertise is mostly cost free with a valid Medicare card and we are very fortunate to have them on board with us. Unfortunately, Covid continues to spread un-welcomingly again in the north so please distance and sanitise as has been endlessly advised. If you or yours are unwell, get tested! 21.01.2022 Dr Luke is delighted to announce our new collaboration with Hannah Dunn and the brilliant innovative D.O.T.S Occupational Therapy for Children. The D.O.T.S from later this month shall have a full time presence within my Ormond Boulevard rooms and with quality occupational therapy hard to access, their presence is music to my ears! 18.01.2022 Dear All, Some weeks ago I wrote about Covid-19 and the distressing toll that this pandemic is having on our kids headspace. I specifically referenced the increasing rate of (nervous) tic and other disorders. Sadly matters have not improved and even our Premier has acknowledged the importance of normality for children and beginning with school attendance once more. I am delighted then to see kids heading back to the classrooms.... Within my service we also take psychological wellness very seriously. For this reason we also have Rosa Galante, psychologist, on board full time. Rosa is skilled then in the counselling of distressed youngsters. We have done a great job as Victorians. 16.01.2022 We are thrilled to welcome Ms Rosa Galante of the Complete Therapy Psychology Group to the Dr Luke team at our new Ormond Boulevard suites. Rosa is a gifted, experienced and caring psychologist. Her expertise are wide ranging, spanning the behavioural, educational/learning, adjustment, attention deficit, and (especially) autism spectrum disorders. To that end she offers diagnostic and therapeutic services for all of these. Valued clients, today with our current situatio...n with the uncertainties of Covid-19, children (and families) are suffering in respect of their learning not to mention their very much heightened stress levels. 14.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS!! For those that have seen the 'For Lease' sign out the front of the clinic....NO, Dr Luke is not retiring! We are happy to announce that we are moving to 7 Ormond Boulevard (Uni Hill). Our moving date will be advised in a little while. Dr Luke is working as per usual and the clinic is still open. He is on the front line of COVID-19 research together with clinicians from the University of Queensland. They collectively are hunting for a treatment and quite pr...obably including hydroxychloroquine. 14.01.2022 I write you to inform of my practise move to 4-7 Ormond Boulevard, University Hill Bundoora. I have consulting space within my office space a like-minded clinician/obstetrician to lease or to join as an associate. My generous office suite has been purpose designed and fitted out and within a brand new dedicated medical office building; we have Austin pathology, ultrasound, Breath Hydrogen Testing and allied health clinicians on site (psychology, speech pathology, OT, and ...dietician). My space and my experienced team is all about the needs of children and their parents/ families. Spacious well equipped rooms are available for lease and I would dearly like to attract a clinician (would suit an obstetrician-gynaecologist in particular) who works or who wishes to work in the area. That clinician shall also be able to benefit from my introduction to thousands of families. The rooms are 15mm plaster-board soundproofed and with multiple data/power outlets and (included) access to the internet. 11.01.2022 My dear families, In short stay safe and stay strong. There will be life after Covid-19, a normality that I am sure that we will all appreciate a little bit more. We are here and functioning normally save the distancing and the sanitation measures put into place. For my part I want to be working for my families and working in the fight against this pathogen. We are also offering TeleHealth for those who are unable/reluctant to attend in person.... Where children are concerned, we are delighted that they seem to be demonstrating innate resistance to the virus and with lesser clinical signs although of course they can still catch and transmit the agent. Treatments are showing promise and especially hydrochloroquine and because of my respiratory research doctorate (bronchiolitis) I have offered my assistance and insights to front line researchers. 01.01.2022 Dear Valued Families, A state of disaster it has been called and yes it is, but we Victorians are bigger and stronger than this virus. But only provided we are smart about how we deal with Covid-19 and how we avoid it. Deal with it then by accepting its reality. Avoid it by isolating as instructed, distancing, and sanitizing.... For me/us it is work as usual and with face to face appointments (it is okay to leave your home to attend medical appointments); we are fully Covid compliant within the clinic. Telehealth of course is offered also. Also, more recently I have seen many children with symptoms of acute anxiety and especially the onset of nervous tics; our kids then are becoming increasingly distressed. Our children know that something is going on and even if we are not talking with them about Covid. They miss their friends and extended family, they see the news and other screens, and they are frustrated. Be there for your children, reassure them, hug them and most importantly laugh with them. If you are worried, call me and such that we can employ other tools such as Ms Galante, our experienced psychologist and via a partly subsidized mental health plan. Our other players Talking Turtles Speech Pathology, DOTS Occupational Therapy, and Feed Nourish Grow Dietician are also still working for the benefit of your precious children. There is also a silver lining and on a lighter note, 4 year old Lachlan told me this morning that "Ï love my facemask Dr Luke because I can be a cowboy all of the time".
