25.01.2022 The recap of todays meeting: - They want the whole town evacuated, by lunch tomorrow (Friday) - Adelong is no longer our evacuation center, Tumut may come int...o the line of fire, dependent on the weather and the fire front. - We now need to go to Wagga , the indoor Netball center Copland st East Wagga. - Pets can be sheltered at Wagga showground. - If you need transport arranged, buses will be available tomorrow. It will be to the registration center, Copland st east Wagga - An emergency alert has been arranged and will be sent. A computer generated message will be texted and called to people to alert them and its message is to leave. - If you stay and defend, electricity is likely to go and water pressure will fail. - Mobile phone service will be gone and you will not be contactable to for many days. - If fire comes through it will be luck if there is even 1 fire truck available in each street. - If the road is breached before there will be no leaving down the hill. - If you are heading towards Wagga that road could close it may be better to go via Gocup road. Police will not be going door to door at a point in future to tell people to leave.131444 is police link and the number to call unless you are in immediate danger, non urgent inquiries can use the policemen online website. We hope this information assists you.

22.01.2022 We send our condolences to their family, colleagues and friends may they Rest In Peace. The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) confirms that two NSW RFS volunteer Firefighters have died tonight near Buxton, in south western Sydney. The deaths occurred following a vehicle rollover earlier this evening during Firefighting operations. It is believed the vehicle, while travelling in convey, hit a tree before rolling off the road.... Another three Firefighters have received injuries as a result of the accident. Our thoughts are with all the Firefighters family, friends and fellow brigade members. This is an absolutely devastating event in what has already been an incredibly difficult day and fire season.

19.01.2022 INCREASED RISK OF GRASS FIRES THIS FIRE SEASON This coming fire season there will be an increased risk of grass fires due to the prolific growth not seen for ...several years across the Cootamundra Gundagai Regional Council and the Hilltops Council areas. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security; whilst the grass is currently green, it will only take several hot, dry days to enable the grass to carry fire! Property owners should be actively maintaining their asset protection zones (APZ) and fire breaks now, this applies to residents in urban areas as well as those living in rural areas. An APZ separates the building from the hazard. It is designed to minimize the presence of fuels, which could burn in a fire. Therefore, the impact of direct flame contact, radiant heat and ember attack on the structure is reduced. Firebreaks can help stop grass fires from spreading to valuable assets such as crops, livestock or buildings. You should mow, graze or plough around crops, valuable assets and fence lines to prevent fire from entering or escaping from your property. 18.01.2022 A great idea from the government to commemorate the fire fighters from all of their hard efforts from last summer. Risking lives to save others and their property.

Lucky theres enough of us to go around! Both incidents were brought under control quickly without any damage to property or people.
