25.01.2022 We were called to assist Fire and Rescue NSW Station 312 Gulgong with this reported house fire earlier tonight. This is a timely reminder, as the colder nights set in, that we should all take the time to check all heaters whether they be wood, gas or electric to make sure they are working correctly and that smoke alarms are fitted and working correctly.

25.01.2022 Do you wonder what the bush fire alert levels are and what you should do? Heres some great info from the team at NSW RFS - Cudgegong District

23.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."... Lest we forget.

22.01.2022 With just over an hour before Santa arrives at the station we are still going ahead with our lolly run this afternoon. We have had to drop back to 1 truck as some of our team have gone to support Fire and Rescue NSW Station 342 Kandos with the fires around them but we are still going ahead. Remember Santa will only give lollies to good children on the footpath but make sure you give him some huge waves.... Our tracker will be up soon. See you soon.

22.01.2022 As we enter today with a total fire ban and severe fire danger, we ask that everyone stay vigilant and ensure that their bushfire survival plan is in place and that everyone knows what they are doing in the event of a fire occurring near your location. There are a number of rules that come into place and we ask that everyone follow these to assist in preventing the risks of fire. A couple of these maybe things that we do on weekends that we dont even consider could start fir...es. Some of these are: General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open A barbeque or wood fire pizza oven which uses solid fuel, such as wood, charcoal or heat beads, cannot be used outside during a Total Fire Ban. The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property. Further information can be found on the NSW RFS website using the link: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//fdr-and-t/total-fire-ban-rules And if you havent already download the Fires Near Me app to you and your family members personal smart devices to stay updated. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fires-near-me

21.01.2022 As the restrictions around COVID-19 quickly change day by day we remind everyone that we will still be there when you need us. Our team are prepared for anything and we will continue to provide the help you require when you need us. We encourage everyone to listen to and follow the advice of the medical professionals. We know that when the advice is issued and followed we end up with a better outcome like everyone did during the recent unprecedented fire season. We will get through this if we all pull together and follow the advice.

21.01.2022 As people begin to travel over the next couple of days we need to remain vigilant and stay safe on our roads. The latest video from NRMA Insurance is a great example of sometimes we put the focus on the wrong things. If you havent seen it have a look and stay safe on our roads.... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i7mYiOtq14I

21.01.2022 At approximately five minutes to midnight last night pumper 387 and Hazmat Tanker 387 were responder with NSW RFS - Mudgee Headquarters to reports of a car fire just outside Mudgee on the Castlereagh Highway. Upon arrival firefighters found a Volkswagen utility fully engulfed in fire which had also started a grass fire in adjacent land. Crews immediately got to work in breathing apparatus and extinguished both the car fire and adjacent grass fire. The Castlereagh Highway was ...closed in both directions for a short period of time whilst firefighting operations were in place. The utility was totally destroyed by fire with the quick thinking actions of the occupants of the utility disconnecting the jet ski that was being towed behind the ute with no damage to this. Firefighters would like to thank the passing motorists for their patience during this incident and would also like to use this as a timely reminder to remind all motorists to please slow down around incident scenes when red and blue flashing lights are active.

21.01.2022 Were just getting Santa ready and well be off. You can follow us here: https://bluelane.io/K2P7SY

20.01.2022 You guessed it, its that time of the year when you get that extra hour to change your smoke alarm battery. When you change your smoke alarm battery remember to check it as its as simple as pushing the button. Oh and while youre at it, change your clocks back an hour too.

20.01.2022 Yesterday two of our specialist Hazmat operators took Hazmat Tanker 387 across to assist with an incident at Manildra flour mill. The nature of the incident involved many resources from Fire and Rescue NSW Regional West 2 including our Hazmat Tanker and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 312 Gulgong rehab van. These specialist appliances ensure that our firefighters have the best resources available to them to assist in rendering incidents safe whilst ensuring firefighter well being. After nearly 48 hours of firefighting operations the incident was handed back to the owners last night.

19.01.2022 Our thoughts go out to the crew at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 364 Lithgow West on their tragic loss. We send our condolences to his family and friends in this terrible time.

19.01.2022 Our crew at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 387 Mudgee wish everyone a happy new year and all the very best for a safe 2020. Tonight we are thinking about all of our fellow firefighters who have been and are still out on the fire ground that they remain safe and welcome in the New Year safely.

17.01.2022 Yesterday marked a major milestone for one of our most senior firefighters with Robert Joseph marking 40 years of service to Fire and Rescue NSW and the Mid-Western Regional Council community. Robert or Joe as he is commonly known, along with his family, have made an enormous commitment to the people of Mudgee giving up many a night of sleep, missing the family dinner and many other personal/family commitments over this time. Joe, during these 40 years of service has seen man...y changes in the fire brigade and has also undertaken a number of key responsibilities of which included a period of where Joe and his family spent living at the fire station. One of the key responsibilities included being the initial call taker of fire calls and setting off the station siren to alert the other firefighters of the need to respond, which he still enjoys doing on our special occasions. Joe has also been the face of Mudgee Fire and Rescue at our community engagement activities over the majority of these years. From everyone at Mudgee 387 station we would like to congratulate and thank Robert for his amazing contribution to our station and look forward to many more in the years to come.

17.01.2022 A very moving tribute from Victoria Police who despite their loss continue to do the amazing job they do to keep everyone safe. Our thoughts go out to the officers families, friends and work colleagues in this terrible time when 4 officers never came home.

17.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of Mens Health Week, a week that focuses on the health impacts of mens environments. Our people are our most important asset and the...ir mental and physical wellbeing is crucial to ensuring we are prepared for anything. This year Mens Health Week highlights the importance of taking the time to have regular check-ups with a general practitioner and regular check-ins with your loved ones. Some of the work Fire and Rescue NSW is doing to support our people in this area includes the recruitment of Wellbeing Officers to support the roll out of mental health programs and enhancing our personal protective equipment to reduce our firefighters exposure to carcinogens. Tips from www.menshealthweek.org.au to manage your health: Be active in getting medical help if you dont feel well, have a problem that wont go away or notice unusual symptoms. Its OK to seek help - dont try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. Partners - be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. Dont leave it too late to seek help. For more information visit: https://www.menshealthweek.org.au/

15.01.2022 In what has been a horrid fire season these guys have been the saviour from the skies. Unfortunately yesterday they lost their lives doing what they have done for many weeks now in Australia and we shall be forever grateful. Our thoughts and thanks are with the whole Coulson Aviation - Next Gen Firefighting team and their families.

15.01.2022 In winter, the average number of home fires a week in NSW is 102 (based on a five year average). Now is the time to look at how to keep safe inside the home. Heaters keep all objects off heaters and ensure heaters are at a safe distance from objects in a room. Never use a solid fuel heater or BBQ inside your home the results can be deadly. Dont leave fire safety to chance Act on the Get Ready for Winter Fire Safety Checklist.

14.01.2022 Shortly after 10pm last night we were called along with Mudgee Police to reports of a rubbish fire at the rear of a residence in Church Street Mudgee. Upon arrival we found that the residents had lit a fire to burn off some rubbish including parts of an old bed which was quickly extinguished by our firefighters. Our thanks go to the passerbys quick thinking who called 000 upon the site of the smoke from the rear of the property.... A reminder that Total Fire Ban days are from midnight to midnight on the gazetted days and have strict rules around the lighting of fires with severe penalties in place for not complying with these rules. The lighting of any fire within the bushfire danger period in the whole of NSW requires a fire permit to be issued by either NSW Rural Fire Service or Fire and Rescue NSW. Any fires deliberately lit during this time also carry fines. Also if you see a fire that doesnt have a fire appliance near by please call 000 immediately so that we can get our teams to inspect and make safe.

12.01.2022 Keep looking when Cooking Yesterday afternoon we were called with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 312 Gulgong to reports of a house fire with a smoke alarm sounding and smoke issuing from a house in Mudgee. Upon our arrival we were met by the residents of the premises who had just returned home after quickly heading to the shops. ... They had left the roast on the stove cooking with a misunderstanding of who was looking after it that led to our call. Thankfully they had a working smoke alarm which alerted neighbours who were able to call 000 which prevented a more serious outcome. Remember smoke alarms do save lives and in this case homes. We cant stress how important it is to keep looking while you are cooking each and every time. If you cant stay within a couple of steps turn it off until you can. #KeepLookingWhenCooking #FRNSW #firefighters #smokealarms #homefiresafety

12.01.2022 **A message from Commissioner Paul Baxter** It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Fire and Rescue NSWs first commissioner, Commissioner Ian Mac...Dougall, AFSM, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82. Ian joined Fire and Rescue NSW in 1994 after a long career with the Royal Australian Navy. Ian rose through the ranks of the Navy achieving rank of Vice Admiral before stepping into the Commissioners role. He spent almost 10 years with FRNSW and was able to modernise the department by upgrading our communications and technology to ensure we were equipped for the future. During his time at FRNSW, Ian was appointed President of the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council. Ian will be dearly missed by everyone at FRNSW and we extend our condolences to all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

08.01.2022 Our firefighters from across Region West have banded together to raise money to support the Jordan family by selling beanies in the lead up to the colder months.... Bridie is the daughter of Damien Jordan, Deputy Captain at 300 Gilgandra station. Bridie suffers from Mainzer Saldino Syndrome, a rare genetic syndrome only diagnosed in around 20 others internationally. It effects bone growth and organs in the body. As a result of this, Bridies kidneys are failing, and shes currently undergoing extensive treatment in Sydney, hundreds of kilometres from home. This fundraiser has been set up by firefighters in Region West Area Command, and is designed to help support the family, who have been forced to live away from home during Bridies treatment. In 2018, Damien Jordan was the second highest individual fundraiser in the Firies Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. Its time for us to support Damien and his family during their time of need. To purchase your beanie, simply visit our website at https://beaniesforbridie.com.au/

07.01.2022 Congratulations and thank you Barry for your commitment and dedication to our region. Always making sure our roads were as safe as they could be every shift. Time to rest up and enjoy your retirement.

07.01.2022 SOLAR PANEL FIRES | We are urging residents with solar panels to remain aware and vigilant after an influx in solar panel fires this year. This footage was obta...ined from a neighbour in Glenwood who called Triple Zero (000) after noticing a house nearby had solar panels alight. This was one of six solar panel fires that Fire and Rescue NSW attended in the past week alone. These statistics show solar panel fires are up 20 percent compared to last year and continuing to rise. Isolation switches appear to be causing almost half of solar panel fires, so it is vital to ensure solar panels are installed and regularly maintained by a professional and that systems comply with Australian Standards. Always do a licence check with NSW Fair Trading before any installation and wiring takes place. This can be found at https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels. #MoreThanFire #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #PreparedForAnything

05.01.2022 Just finishing in Macquarie Drive

04.01.2022 Just about finished in Denison Street about to head into Gladstone Street

03.01.2022 Just after 7pm tonight both pumper 387 and hazmat tanker 387 responded to reports of an electrical pillar alight. Upon arrival we found an electrical pillar box that had been damaged by fire by had self extinguished. Our firefighters setup an exclusion zone awaiting the arrival of local Essential Energy crews to complete repairs. With the different weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment it is very important to remember the risks associated with electricity. Whether its a tree on powerlines or arcing wires its important to keep your distance and contact emergency services on 000 straight away.
