25.01.2022 How is you cat today? This little kitty got adopted and loves her pink scratchy pole.

25.01.2022 Get a kitten they said, it will be fun they said . Please show us your photo about the fun you can have having a cat kitten . Or what naughtiness they can come up with.

25.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions in Melbourne starting at about the same time as kitten season I was able to do a couple of Christmas card photo shoots. We have a Limited Edition special 2020 card which is shown in the post below. And these cards which come in a pack of 10 with 2 of each image. These are available now via the link and the Limited Edition one will hopefully be available by tonight https://2ndchancecatrescue.bigcartel.com//2020-christmas-c

24.01.2022 Meet Jezzabelle, a 4 year old girl that has come into rescue due to her owner having to go into aged care. Jezz is extremely affectionate and smoochy and wants a quiet home where she will be adored and loved. In return Jezz will happily sit on your lap, sleep on your bed and lap up all the attention you can give her. She really is one of the most sweetest little darlings I have ever come across Please note that Jezz is NOT suitable to home with dogs or other cats or children ...under the age of 12 years. 24.01.2022 Check this out. We had over 1.5 million views for our cats . And 2300 Listed animals. Thanks to a dedicated foster carer team caring and loving cats in need.

24.01.2022 A little up date on our legend Craig.... he spent the day at the vet undergoing a lot of tests. He was put under anaesthesia & the vet could still tell he was feeling pain in certain areas On top of his knees we have since found out he has some issues with his back. There is pain there also. Some sort of trauma but we have no idea how or why. He has got a long road to go but we & his family are not giving up on him with your help ... He is now on pain medication & separated from Susan for a few days so he can recover & give the anti inflammatories & pain medication some time to work. An orthopaedic surgeon will be looking over all the reports & tests & will advise of a treatment plan for him ASAP. Right now its all about pain medication & keeping him as comfortable as possible until we find out the next steps. The price for his treatment is still in the ballpark of around $6000k unfortunately. Here is a video of him now resting with his daddy at home & once again we thank you for your donations to date Does anyone have any other suggestions on ways we could raise more money for Craig during Covid? We will give you another update on him later next week when we know more. Love you so much little legend x https://www.givenow.com.au/2ndchancecatrescue Reference Craig

23.01.2022 Top 5 things to do when you get home Set up the food Keep your cat on the same foot it ate at the rescue. If you want to transition to eat new food, do so by mixing the two foods over a week to ensure the change of food doesnt upset your cat.... Ps Im using old photos for this post , would love to hear from you if it is your kitten.

23.01.2022 Wishing Craig the best of luck tomorrow.... he is fasting tonight & will potentially has his urgent surgery tomorrow You go little legend, we are all behind you https://www.givenow.com.au/2ndchancecatrescue

22.01.2022 A little update form Craigs Mum. He needs to have an urgent operation , The surgeon is pretty booked out but they hope to hopefully fit him in this week. If you would like to help Craig, which got adopted with Susan the donation link is attached. We are very grateful for all the donation for this little boy so far . https://www.givenow.com.au/2ndchancecatrescue... Hi Daniela. I was incredibly lucky to adopt Craig (Casper) and Susan (Bella) and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible generosity. Seriously crying because of the love and support for Craig. Its amazing and means so much to us. We love them so much. Like my husband and I, our kids aged 8, 10 & 13 are incredibly attached to them. Our 8 year old wont sleep without one of them. Our 13 year old is on the spectrum and when he is upset Craig actually comforts him. They have become a very important part of our lives in such a short amount of time and we appreciate everyone joining us on this journey to give Craig the pain free life he so very much deserves. I dont know how we can ever repay you, Ange or anyone else who has donated or expressed well wishes for your commitment to his care.

22.01.2022 Handsome Teal has been in care a little while. Still very shy. Not as yet available for adoption. Some if you remember him as a small kitten . He got adopted and as soon as hubby passed away he got dumped at the vet to be Euzanaised. Vet called and we were able to get him. People never amaze me how cruel they can be.

22.01.2022 Ever thought how to equally share a plate when you have multiple kittens? Here is the solution to a kitchen item you may hardly use.

21.01.2022 A little act of kindness https://arcsupport.org.au/actofkindness/ The Petbarn Foundation together with Animal Rescue Cooperative are actively supporting pet-owners in the community experiencing illness or a loss of income due COVID19. Were looking to help pet owners that could do with a little act of kindness right now.... We will donate a months supply of high quality pet food and deliver it to their doorstep free of charge. This means theyll be able to feed their pet a high-quality food for a month without spending a cent. Its just a little act of kindness that might make a big difference to someones day. 20.01.2022 Can you please share Craigs Journey. We would like to see it spread all over the world and make people aware how much rescues are doing to save lives and make a difference in how we perceive the love for our pets. https://www.facebook.com/Craigs-Journey-Downunder-104981011247793/

19.01.2022 Help needed Does anybody know or work for a Debt Collector? Can you please let me know their details. THANKS!

19.01.2022 Cats that urinate inappropriately have a 28.3 times higher risk of being relinquished by their owners. However, often this problem is not due to disobedience and cats may be trained or retrained to use their litter boxes appropriately. Cats stop using their litter boxes for a variety of reasons, including issues with the box or litter, dissatisfaction with the placement or number of boxes, changes in the environment inside or outside the house, and undiagnosed medical conditi...ons. Here are some common reasons why a cat might avoid the litter box: There arent enough litter boxes They do not like the type of litter They do not like the type of litter box They do not like where the box is located The litter box isnt clean To address this issue, cat owners are advised to get their cats physical health checked, change brands of kitty litter, alter or change the type of litter box, move the location of the litter box, add a litter box and increase the cleanliness of the litter box. Remember, cats will re-soil and spray areas they have marked with their scent. If your cat has eliminated somewhere you do not want it to, you MUST use an odour neutraliser not just a deodorant. Remember, just because you cant smell the scent under a perfume, doesnt mean your cat cant! Their sense of smell is much more sensitive than ours! Cats urinating and defecating outside of the litter box is frustrating, However try to keep in mind that cats dont eliminate outside their litter box to purposefully annoy you. Punishment wont stop or correct the behaviour. Since most cases of litter box avoidance are stress-related, punishment only increases the stress (for you and your kitty). A full resolution depends on early intervention to prevent a precedent from being made, followed by detective work to determine the cause of the behaviour, and time and effort on your part to solve the problem. In partnership with veterinarians, both cats and the people who love them can live in harmony and good health. Adapted from: http://bestfriends.org/resources/cat-not-using-litter-box

18.01.2022 How is this for being a busy mum https://www.facebook.com/374003909908202/videos/1640916219403269

17.01.2022 Getting a new kitten or cat and are afraid it is scratching your furniture? This is the solution.

16.01.2022 Wow doesnt this T-shirts look nice.

16.01.2022 My granddaughter wanted to see kittens. Here are our bottle feed kittens. All thriving after we had 3 scares with them. They are super affectionate to the point that my legs are a bit worse for wear. Again not available for Adoption. And yes if you pm us you get the same message.

16.01.2022 Due to ever increasing bills we had to increase the adoption fees of adults and older kittens. Note we do not have any Cats or kittens available at the moment. Adult & Mothers $150 Kittens (6 12 month olds) $200... Kittens (up to 6 months) $250 See more

15.01.2022 Top 5 things to do when you get home Set up the kitty litter Cats want to be clean, but the are often very particular about where they do their business. If your cat is used to going outside, you may need to show it where the litter tray is several times before it gets familiar with the tray.... If you do like our Wood Mate litter trays we do have some available at $30.- per tray set. 2nd Chance Cat Rescue loves to uses this trays as it is cost effective and reduces the smell of urine. Pm for more information.

14.01.2022 Rescues get asked all the time about the fees they have for their cats and kittens. A lot of people don't understand how much it costs involved. I hope this gives everyone a better understanding

14.01.2022 Top 5 things to do when you get home with a cat Set up sleeping places Cats enjoy having lots of sleeping areas in a variety of places- put some soft bedding up high (such as on top of a wardrobe or bookcase), put some bedding in a quiet area ( such as inside a wardrobe, or on a living room chair) and provide a couple of sheltered cat beds which allows your cat to not be seen if it wants. You should also provide your cat with a scratching post, as keeping their claws healthy is important.

13.01.2022 Update on Craig he has just come out of surgery and doing well. Now the long wait starts to see how it heals and when they can do is next knee. Hope he will be going home with a lot of pain killers and no complications. I would like to say a massive thank you to all our supporters who so far have donated to 2nd Chance Cat Rescue for Craig. We have paid the first $1000.- from our rescue fund and will see how much more we can raise. Cheers Daniela

13.01.2022 Our founder of this rescue, Daniela Maslen has no idea I am writing this... but I think it is worth acknowledging a few things that have happened behind the scenes since we found out about Craig. 1) I informed Daniela about what was going on with Craig & without hesitation she was on board straight away to help him; 2) she has not washed her hands from an adoption that happened months ago & is regularly checking in with Craigs family; ... 3) she allowed me to set up a fundraiser for Craig & advised the donations this month will be going to Craigs care; 4) she has donated $1000 to Craigs bill already; 5) she has been in constant contact with me suggesting ways we can raise more money for Craigs treatment (which will be ongoing) This is no ordinary rescue, Daniela has not washed her hands of Craig who has been adopted. I feel proud to volunteer for this organisation & when I have felt like the end was perhaps near in my heart for some of my fosters she would never give up & we keep going, we always have the best interests of our kitty cats at heart. So thank you Ange x Ps I am sure Craig would say thanks too if he could On another note, we would love to see where all of our supporters come from so please let us know

13.01.2022 We really need your help Do you remember baby Craig & Susan? They were adopted out together to a beautiful loving family. Yesterday they noticed that Craig had lost movement in his back legs & started falling every where & appeared in pain. They rushed him to the vet & it turns out he has a hereditary condition which now requires surgery on both knee caps This surgery is estimated to be around $6,000 they wont give up on Craig but I really need your help with any f...inancial donations, anything you can spare even if just a few dollars that we can contribute to their vet bill. The family are devastated they dont want to give up on Craig & they know he is in a lot of pain, however I think we can all agree that most dont have a spare $6000 right now. We would be so grateful if anyone can please help towards this vet bill. This is intricate surgery & requires a specialist orthopaedic surgeon to do this work. If you cant donate, could you please share this. Lots of love from Ange, Craig & his family Donations can me made to: reference Craig https://www.givenow.com.au/2ndchancecatrescue Edit* anyone who has just donated to Anges personal account before we changed it to a Give Now Fundraiser (in the last 15mins) she will transfer that into the Give Now x

12.01.2022 Wow doesn't this T-shirts look nice.

12.01.2022 I have never seen one of this carriers. I would love some for our scared cats.

11.01.2022 Lately we had a lot of people contacting us via PM or E-mail wanting to adopt a kitten. Kitten season has not started yet.In 2-3 month time the first kittens should become available for adoption. till then there may be some around but most rescues will have no kittens available. You are not the only one wanting a kitten so when you apply to get a kitten it is like a job application. Dont just click the yes and no button, if there is space for a message put your best foot f...orward and let the rescue know a bit more about you and where the cat is going. Hope this helps and you are not alone in the search for a new kitten there are thousands of other people in the same boat. We dont like to people letting them know they are not successful even though they would be a good match for a kitten. As a Rescue we do not breed cats we are making sure they are getting the best home after they had all the vet work done. Stay in touch and enjoy our Facebook page and in the near future we hopefully will have your best friend to adopt. Cheers Daniela, Founder of 2nd Chance Cat Rescue

10.01.2022 Anyone elses cat strut like this

09.01.2022 TOP 5 things to do when you get home with a new cat. Secure the house The last thing you want your cat to do when it arrives is to leave, so make sure that all of the doors and windows are secure, remembering that cats can climb! You might also want to put a notice on the back of the door to remind people to close the door to keep the cat inside.

09.01.2022 Hi all, We get asked a lot if we do have cats or kittens for adoption at the moment? No, all 5 kittens in care are tiny little babies and are not available for adoption. To be fair on everyone we do not take applications till they are ready to get adopted. Which is about 8 weeks away. Many things can happen in the meantime. We have found that people were pestering us about a kitten and when they were ready they already got a kitten from somewhere else. Presently we get over 100 applications for one kitten. If we put the little ones on our rescue page we will get flooded with inquiries and we are only a small rescue and most of us work full time jobs, so its not fair on anybody. The foster carer has really got the last say who adopts the kittens as she knows who would suit best to the personality of the kitten.

08.01.2022 Not available for Adoption 2nd Chance Cat Rescue does not do pre adoption due to things can go wrong and I don't want to be the bearer of bad news.

04.01.2022 Top five things to know about cats #5 Cats are famous for picking who they cuddle up to and who they ignore. But dont read to much into this - what cats like most of all is being able to choose when to be with people and when to be alone.

02.01.2022 Do you have a few cats that all have different dietary requirements? These microchip feeders are excellent for multi cat households. I have one at the moment because Mazikeen is still on kitten food and my other cats try to steal it. I've programmed the feeder to read Mazikeens microchip number so only she can open it when she puts her head near. Although when she opens it the other cats will do anything they can to pinch some food lol
