25.01.2022 #BREAKING Police say the body of a man, believed to missing man Shane Robb, has been found. The 37-year-old was last seen near Wongan Hills on Sunday, and his crashed quad bike was discovered near Goomalling yesterday. Police say a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

23.01.2022 Geraldton Police Station officers have charged three people over a break in at a house in Wonthella in which a metal detector was stolen. A police spokesman said the thieves allegedly cut power to CCTV cameras during an early morning break in and forced open several doors before stealing the equipment, which is worth up to $10,000. Later the same day the detector was found during a police search of another house. ... A woman and two men will face court charged with aggravated home burglary in early November.

23.01.2022 More people were caught driving with drugs in their system than alcohol in the Midwest during the school holidays. Police were out and about targeting drivers on the main highways in the Midwest, Great Southern and South West.

19.01.2022 WA GROWERS GIVEN ACCESS TO FOREIGN WORKERS WA's Agriculture Minister has announced the state's horticulture industry will be able to access some foreign workers through the seasonal workers program, including about 3,000 Vanuatu workers already in the Northern Territory. It comes amid a looming shortage of farm workers in WA.... Alannah MacTiernan said the initial focus will be on workers who have already quarantined in Australia. "When they are finished doing their tasks in the Northern Territory, mainly picking mangoes, we will welcome them to come into Western Australia," she said. The State Government will also look to bring in a couple of hundred workers from Timor-Leste but they will need to quarantine.

14.01.2022 UPDATE 8am 17 October: The Key Integrity has arrived at the Geraldton port. A nurse in full PPE will board the vessel to perform a COVID test on the crew member... #BREAKING The Department of Health has been alerted to a previously symptomatic crew member on board a bulk carrier off the Geraldton coast. There are 20 crew on board the Key Integrity, which was due to arrive in the Geraldton port tomorrow morning. The vessel left Manila on 6 October 2020 following a crew exchange. The 13 new crew members were tested for COVID-19 before joining the vessel. The Department says none of the other 19 crew are reporting any symptoms, and the crew member is isolating in his cabin. A WA Health nurse in full PPE will board the vessel tomorrow morning to swab the crew member. Test results will be fast tracked and are anticipated to be available within two to three hours. In a statement, the Department of Health says the Geraldton community are not at risk. "The Key Integrity will remain berthed and no crew will disembark." "An outbreak team is on standby and working closely with the WA Country Health Service."

09.01.2022 NEW LUNGS, NEW LIFE You might remember a story on Jackie Fraser, a young WA woman living with cystic fibrosis. Since that interview in 2018, Jackie's health had deteriorated significantly with her lung capacity as low as 20%.... "I was home bound most of the day, on oxygen 24/7," she said. But the gift of new lungs in recent weeks has significantly changed her life. "It's amazing to breathe easy, I did a work out a few days ago with a physio and I was able to just work out the whole time and chat and not even feel breathless at all. "To feel my legs feel fatigued before my lungs is just wild, I've never felt that before in my life." A report will be prepared for the Coroner.... ---- #BREAKING Police say clothes belonging to missing man Shane Robb were found overnight. The 37 year old's crashed quad bike was discovered yesterday but so far there's been no sign of Mr Robb. Wheatbelt District - WA Police Force Inspector Mark Twamley says the recent warm days have been a concern because Mr Robb may not have been carrying water. However he says there are sheep troughs and some creeks in the search area near Goomalling Western Australia. Search dogs, horses, police cadets, State Emergency Service volunteers, aircraft and police officers are involved in the search today. Thanks to them and we wish them all the best with the search.

05.01.2022 Police have released enhanced vision of CCTV captured on the night a teenager was sexually assaulted in Rangeway. The 15-year-old girl was snatched from Blencowe Road, near Utakarra Road, in the early hours of Saturday, September 5. Sex assault squad detectives and Geraldton detectives yesterday set up a mobile police facility at the sight hoping to gather more information from people in the area.... They are asking anyone with information, no matter how minor or even rumours, to come forward so all can be investigated. "There may be people that are sat at home thinking that they did see something suspicious, they've heard something suspicious, or they might have even heard something via rumour," said Detective S/C Tom Grieve. "What I encourage them to do is let us decide whether that information is relevant or not." 01.01.2022 COMMEMORATING THE BEVERLEY HEROIC In 1897 news reporters described a long cycle race from Beverley to Perth as "perhaps the most important cycling event ever held" in Western Australia. The Rover Road Race from Beverley through York, Northam and Toodyay, then called Newcastle, finished at the gates of Government House.... It became known as the Beverley to Perth or simply The Beverley and ran from 1897 to 1999 except during WW1. These days it's commemorated as the Beverley Heroic. Jess Barratt from The Dusty Box says 14 riders were selected to contest that first ride and there was much excitement in the community as the big day approached. The first rider left Beverley at 7am. In Perth, Percy Armstrong from the Armstrong Cycle Agency hung a calico sheet over the front window of his shop on Hay Street and posted each rider's time as he received telegrams when they passed by each town's post office. The winner completed the 186km ride to much cheering in 6 hours and 47 minutes.
