24.01.2022 Recent Australian studies have reported that up to 14% of pre-schoolers may have hypomineralised second primary molars (HSPM), where the enamel (outer layer) of the second baby molars doesnt develop properly, making them weak and prone to damage. Dentists can help detect signs of weak teeth before they break down. They can help protect these teeth using seals or fillings that cover weak parts. In badly affected teeth, this window of time is narrow, so its important to hav...e regular dental visits, starting as early as 12 months of age, or when the teeth first come through. http://theconversation.com/why-some-kids-are-more-prone-to- #kidsdentistry #weakteeth #dentalvisits

17.01.2022 Parents usually have many questions about orthodontic treatment for their children. It is recommended to schedule the childs first orthodontic visit by age 7 or at the first visible sign of a malocclusion. At that age, the childs teeth and jaw are still developing, making orthodontic issues, such as tooth crowding, easier to address. https://www.colgate.com//early-orthodontics/what-is-the-be #whentohavebraces #kidsorthodontics #sydneydentist

14.01.2022 Australian dentists are urging the public to steer clear of online, do-it-yourself orthodontic services, as they may exacerbate dental problems and lead to costly remedial treatment. According to the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO), the absence of clinical examinations, X-rays and ongoing supervision was concerning. And even if the immediate results seem good, the teeth and bite may not be in a stable position and move back, and there could also be muscular and jaw problems. https://www.smh.com.au//diy-dentistry-industry-booming-but

Thousands of children as young as three years of age are hospitalized in order to have multiple teeth extracted because of the effects of sugar. https://au.pearlywhites.com//news/the-effects-of-sugar-on-... #toothdecay #effectsofsugaronteeth #dentalknowledge #sydneydentists

07.01.2022 A fresh implant case. The patient lost her upper molar on the right and decided to have an implant done as she didnt want her other teeth around it to be affected. Dr. Wang installed the implant screw (the root) into the jawbone, and the case will be finished within 3-6 months, as the bone and surrounding tissue will need time to completely heal (osseointegration process). Following osseointegration, a second operation will be required to uncover the top of the implant, a mould taken of the implant to then make the implant crown. #dentalimplants #xrays #sydneydentists

05.01.2022 Does an electric toothbrush do a better job than a manual brush? They are both effective at keeping your teeth sparkling if used correctly. They both have their own merits. For both types of toothbrushes, you should be replacing the heads every 3 months, or even more frequent if you are currently having ortho (braces) treatment. Your dentist will let you know if you have brushed adequately at your dental appointment and will tailor brushing techniques according to your needs.... #toothbrush #electrictoothbrushvsmanualbrush #oralhealth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgaY27LLw-s
