22.01.2022 More than two-thirds of the South Australian Dog Fence (1,600 kilometres) is over 100 years old. Kangaroos, emus, wombats, feral camels and wild dogs have degraded many sections. A new fence will reduce the impacts of wild dogs on South Australia’s $4.3 billion livestock industry by keeping wild dogs out of pastoral lands. More about this project here https://pir.sa.gov.au//rebuilding_the_dog_fence_in_south_a

20.01.2022 The 5,400 kilometre dog fence protects sheep industry from wild dogs and dingoes. At 2,150 kilometres long, The South Australian Dog Fence stretches from the Great Australian Bight to the New South Wales border. More than two-thirds of the South Australian Dog Fence (1,600 kilometres, red sections in map below) is over 100 years old. ... The photo below shows the section along the Anne Beadell Highway, taken 2018. The rebuild will take up to 5 years and as part of the procurement, there is a preference for South Australian businesses and Australian-made products. Holding the Line: A history of the South Australian Dog Fence Board, 19472012 by Leith Yelland, describes the history of the Dog Fence Board and was commissioned to mark the centenary of the Federation of South Australia. This history records the impact of dingos on the State's sheep industry and the measures undertaken by pastoralists and government to mitigate these impacts. We recognise the contribution of all those who serve/have served and have provided support or assistance in the war and peace keeping efforts. We remember and give our gratitude and prayers for all who have fallen. Photos show Len kneeling on the right hand side with members of the Eighth Field Survey Section, Port Moresby, 1942 and in his Army uniform.... Lest we forget
