23.01.2022 I still hear firefighters that are being taught that it is possible to read the flammabillity of smoke, you can't! Black and turbulent smoke might be possible t...o ignite, but so might white and calm smoke. Respect smoke as dangerous! In this demonstration we are using a propane torch to ignite the smoke in different places. We are searching for different mixtures between smoke and air to find the sweet spot where it is just barely able to ignite, but burns slowly after. Other times it is more of a boom :-) If you want to be able to do demonstrations like the one in the video, let me know and I will hook you up with some great tools for fire training! :-)

Force University on-board was conducting a training flight before it crashed at about 20:50 local time. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said 28 people were on-board: 21 cadets and 7 crew. 18.01.2022 This is a brilliant read from Dan Pronk "Identity Fusion is a term that's used when an individual fuses their personal self and their social self with relation... to constructs such as groups they are a part of or an occupation they might do. When you identify as your job you are at risk of Contingent Self-Esteem - that being self-esteem that is contingent on your performance in one single life domain, in this instance your job. When you're doing well at your job you have high self-esteem and things are great. It's when you might start to fail in your role, or have to leave your role for whatever reason that things can go very badly from a mental health perspective. I fell into the trap of both identity fusion and continent self-esteem as a military member, and wrongly thought that any respect, prestige and entitlement afforded to me while I was in the military would transition out of the military with me. I was terribly wrong, and the transition process involved a struggle to actually work out who I was out of uniform and build a new identity, form a new tribe, and generate new self-esteem. I suspect that much of the issues we see with transitioning veterans is related to this process as much as it is PTSD. Simply understanding the need to differentiate identity and role while still in uniform, and investing in an identity outside of your military role would probably go a long way to mitigating this transition stress. Both sides have committed to trying to work together respectfully towards common goals that benefit all our members. We will provide all our members with an overview of the Divisional Consultative Counsel meeting tomorrow. We highlight again that Lucinda G wants to hear directly from our members about issues that have not been resolved. We urge all members to take up the offer. You can’t gripe about the past if you make no effort towards the truth and reconciliation process. Your UFUA has made it very clear we still intend to vigorously pursue all issues in your best interest. As well as defend all our members to the best of our ability. We will however genuinely try to work with Airservices towards better outcomes.
