07.01.2022 We remind motorists in NSW and the ACT to drive safely and to remember that double demerits are in place for 11 days over the Christmas and New Year holidays from 24 December 2020 to 3 January 2021 inclusive. We have an extra Public Holiday on Monday 28 December as Boxing Day falls on a Saturday. Double demerit points apply for speeding, seat belt, motorcycle helmet and mobile phone offences during holiday periods and run from midnight on the start date to midnight on the fin...ish date. Please also be aware that this is the fourth double demerit period in which active Mobile Phone Detection Cameras are being enforced and fines issued. Drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period will be hit with a $457 fine and 10 demerits. Please drive safely and take extra care on the roads. NRMA
