18.01.2022 This is a panoramic view of the township with a peak, probably Mount Gambier, seen in the background. The house in the middle has washing on the line and its garden has many fruit trees. There appears to be some demolition work in progress on the block in the foreground. Note the wood paling fences around the gardens. State Library: [B 4184] Photographer: Sweet, Samuel White

Mr. Joseph Peters, a highly respected resident of Torrensdale, died last week at the age of 63 years. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. Robert Peters, and the last surviving member of that family. He was born at Torrensdale, and lived in the old home all his life. His parents, accompanied by several other families, made the trip overland in bullock waggons, and to...ok up land at Torrensdale. Mr. Peters leaves a family of seven children and a widow. There are three sons and four daughters - Messrs. J. and E. Peters, Torrensdale, and A.H. Peters, Tailem Bend, and Misses E.O., G., and G. M. Peters. Border Watch on Tuesday 25th February 1936 MRS. MARY HANNAH PETERS.- Mrs. Peters, whose death was announced last week, was born at Bordertown 68 years ago. At the age of 19 she was married by the Rev. Mr. Trevorrow, at Mount Gambier, to Mr. Joseph Peters, of Torrensdale, where she went to reside. Mr. Peters died in 1927, and on the death of her second eldest son eight months later, Mrs. Peters retired from the farm, and came to reside in Mount Gambier. During her long residence she was an earnest worker for the Torrensdale Methodist Church, and for many years was superintendent and teacher in the Sunday School there. Mrs. Peters enjoyed perfect health until four months ago, when her health began to fail. A family of six survive - two sons and four daughters, and there are seven grand-children. She leaves four sisters and one brother. A large assembly of friends met at the graveside on Saturday afternoon. Rev. R.E. Stanley was the officiating minister.
