25.01.2022 http:// Do the Twist // << Movements that encourage thoracic extension improve overall mobility and function. All this week we're looking at how our t-spines move, w...hat gets them stuck, and how we can keep them mobile! >> The spine has "coupled motion" - movement in one plane of motion results in movement in another. One example of this is Type 1 Thoracic Motion: spinal rotation in one direction and lateral flexion in the opposite direction. Symptoms of restricted Type 1 Thoracic Motion include back, neck, and shoulder pain. 23.01.2022 Almost all movements require effective rotation through the thoracic spine! Assuming a rotational restorative pose using ViPR can enhance range of motion, cause... plastic length change in tissues, and upregulate parasympathetic tone to balance out hormone levels. #movementmonday Movement- Kneeling Thoracic Spine Rotation Restorative Pose How - Assume a kneeling position on the ground with a ViPR standing on end next to you. Place one hand on the top and guide your free hand between you and the ViPR so that your chest faces the ViPR. Walk your free hand up the outside of the ViPR and rest it in the single handle as you allow your body weight to hang off of your top hand. Look from floor to ceiling while breathing deeply through your belly Learn more: http://www.viprfit.com/

23.01.2022 Check-out this stamina and mobility improving #vipr move...! What? - 'Multiple steps with Cylinder Swing + Lift.' Give it a go in your next session!! How? He...re’s how!!! 1) Before starting, practice the stepping pattern without the ViPR. (Footprint practice). As well as the handprint pattern. 2) Add the ViPR: Gripping the ViPR on the single handle (hands on tube), Cylinder will be swing crossing the midline and Lifted over head on the anterior step as shown on video 3) Work: Rest Ratio is 2:1. (E.g. 60":30",90":45" , 2min:1min ) 4) Keep a long spine, drive from the hips and allow T-spine rotation. Build momentum and move with fluidity, just like water.’ Try, film post #myviprtraining See more

21.01.2022 http:// Lifters Need to Love Connective Tissue, Too // Force production is a very important discrete input for lifters. The goal for many is the ability to generate ...as much force as possible for advantage in sport and activities of daily living. Force production is typically measured as a percentage of 1 RM. There are many inhibitory restraints on achieving maximal (absolute) strength, and one very important aspect is tissue tensile resiliency. Tissue tensile strength has a lot to do with collagen formation and constitution. Lengthening tissue under load provides an excellent means for remodelling collagen. And vector variability when loading provides the necessary stimulus to create strong and long collagen in the fibrous connective tissue. This increases force potential and is critical for the success of lifters. Wondering how to give collagen a little love? Join us at Anatomy Live January 16th - 17th, 2016. 16.01.2022 http:// 4Q Mobility // <> Third movement: ULT Anterior Foot Reach. Benefits - Challenges whole body coordination and dynamic stability - Enhanced foot/ankle mobility and control Keep in mind... - Stationary foot should remain planted, heel down and no rotation - Excessive anterior pelvic tilt/lumbar extension should be avoided during foot reach - Use dowel for necessary support only We zero-in on mobility and restorative work at Anatomy Live Expanded. Spend two days in cadaver dissection with Anatomy Trains' Tom Myers. Then, learn how to use exercise to make changes in tissue health. 11.01.2022 http:// Thread to Rotation Chop // In advance of Anatomy Live next month, we've been talking about aging, tissue health, and treating the body as a complete, integra...ted system. We touch on all of these with this LMT movement from the Successful Aging month on IoMPro (V1.0). ** Benefits ** -Increases hip mobility and decoupling -Enhances whole body strength -Improves whole body coordination ** Error detection ** -Ensure a tall spine while moving through the hips -Pivot the trail foot -Avoid taking too big of a step ** General Movement Prescription ** -Perform for 45sec on each side at a controlled tempo with sub-maximal load for 2-4 sets For more integrated movement strategies that focus on health outcomes for yourself and your clients, join us in Arizona this January! ==>https://instituteofmotion.com//mentorsh/anatomy-live-2016/ #staycurious

06.01.2022 http:// T-Spine Time // The thoracic spine is often a site for postural dysfunction. Chronic sitting can lead to excessive kyphosis (hunching). It can create unfavou...rable changes in the curvatures of the cervical and lumbar spine, causing pain and increasing injury risk. Movements that encourage thoracic extension improve overall mobility and function. All this week we're looking at how our t-spines move, what gets them stuck, and how we can keep them mobile! 05.01.2022 http:// The Talus: a.k.a The Human Torque Converter // << Foot + Ankle Mobility Week: From a health perspective, we know it is important to move our feet every day. ...What we don't often consider, is whether or not our feet can move. In this video series, we're talking about what sort of mobility our feet require, and what role this plays in overall health. >> The foot uses the subtalar joint to convert sagittal force (as in the forward motion of walking) into the transverse plane to mitigate stress on the body. 01.01.2022 http:// Mobility at the Talocrural Complex // << Foot + Ankle Mobility Week: From a health perspective, we know it is important to move our feet every day. What we d...on't often consider, is whether or not our feet can move. In this video series, we're talking about what sort of mobility our feet require, and what role this plays in overall health. >> Does sitting affect foot mobility? If we don't dorsiflex often during our days, the soft tissues around the talocrural joint become rigid. And, it bears repeating, rigidity is the enemy of biology - we need mobility for range and ease of movement. Learn more on this subject by doing - at Anatomy Live Expanded.
