25.01.2022 Dear members and friends, The continuing increase of COVID-19 within the community makes it necessary for the Holden 4WD Club of SA to go into recess until it i...s safe to resume its activities. This means all meetings, including the AGM, will be cancelled until further notice and all trips, including Christmas in July will be postponed. It is important for us to keep in touch, so please continue to share your stories and progress through this crisis by sending items through to the Secretary for distribution, via email, to everyone else. Above all, please stay safe by being careful.

24.01.2022 CAMPERS TOLD TO STAY HOME Are you still seeing people camping along the River Murray? New measures are now in place ahead of the typically busy Easte...r long weekend. As of Friday all South Australian national park campgrounds and accommodation have been closed and the department advises that refunds will be made to those with existing bookings. It says that South Australia's national parks remain open to locals to visit provided physical distancing measures are followed. Berri Barmera mayor Peter Hunt said everyone should be cancelling any non-essential travel plans. "Naturally Easter's always a great time here in the Riverland, especially around Berri and Barmera with Lake Bonney," Mr Hunt said. "During these trying times, there would have to be something wrong if you really thought you were going to go travelling." While the river may appeal as a place to isolate, anyone coming to the area would still impact the local community by using local services and stores. "If they're coming from a distance, they've got to travel, they've got to stop to go to the toilets, and perhaps fuel," Mr Hunt said. Member for Chaffey Tim Whetstone said people should follow government advice and avoid any non-essential travel. "I ask people contemplating travel to reconsider and stay at home and unfortunately that means asking visitors to postpone their travel to our region," he said.

24.01.2022 We regret to advise that due to the Prime Minister’s advice from his press conference this morning we are cancelling all accommodation bookings and camping on o...ur property through to the end of April at least. We hope to be able to accommodate many of you on our property once travel restrictions have been lifted. Take care, Mija and Matt Reynolds. See more

22.01.2022 Notice to intending visitors Closure of tracks off Lake Augusta Rd within the Central Plateau Conservation Area, namely Pillans Track, Double Lagoon and Talin...ah Lagoon. Following heavy rainfall on the weekend, vehicular access to Lake Pillans and Double and Talinah Lagoons is closed immediately (8 February 2021) and until further notice. Inspections will be carried out weekly to determine when conditions are again suitable for vehicular traffic to return. The closure will ensure damage to the 19 Lagoons road infrastructure is minimised and to ensure visitors' safety is managed appropriately in the wet and boggy conditions. PWS apologises for any inconvenience this may cause visitors. For further information please contact Great Western Tiers Field Centre on Tel. (03) 6701 2104

20.01.2022 Due to COVID-19, our April meeting has been cancelled.

18.01.2022 During the week I reached out to the DBCA Rangers we work with to see if there was anything that we could help with post fires that have devastated Walyunga & a...re threatening Avon Valley NP's as these are areas we have volunteered in previously. I was asked if possible to check some fences at the bottom of John Forrest NP as they'd had reports of a fence being cut for illegal access and as all resources were up at the fires they hadn't had a chance to check on them. We managed to find the fence had been cut in three places and pushed over in another two spots as well as a previously damaged gate being rammed out of its concrete footings! I won't get into argument's about vehicular access to National Parks, but if you ever think you'd be allowed to legally drive in a National Park on the fringe of the metro area then you're a moron! All Tracks as a club have done a lot of volunteer work to build trust and show that the majority 4WDers can do the right thing. Thank you to Dave for your help this morning, the temporary repairs will at least slow down a few idiots until permanent repairs are done. Also FTR Red Hill is part of John Forrest National Park, it is off limits to vehicle access and illegal activity is being monitored! See more

18.01.2022 Hi Everyone, The Committee of Dirtydeed’s 4x4 Club SA are commitment to safety and well-being of its members and visitors as a priority. Considering the new pol...icies, that the Government has put in place, the committee has re-discussed our position and come up with the following outcomes: Due to all social clubs, pubs and restaurants being closed the Para Hills Community Club has had to close its doors. This means our meetings are now cancelled until further notice. Regarding the advice, the Government has issued on No non-essential travel, this also means all Club Trips are cancelled until further notice. Any trips that will be missed due to this disaster will be rescheduled into next year’s calendar. Our club will survive this and will be around on the other side of all this, if everyone looks after themselves and everyone around them. Please stay safe in these testing times. Kind Regards Bridget Miller President DirtyDeeds 4x4 Club SA Inc

18.01.2022 We are all very aware of the current spread of the Corona/Covid 19 Virus and our Governments initiated responses. As at 11am today every single Country across t...he globe now has cases, it has truly got out of control. With the Government daily bring out more and more measures to control not only the spread of this disease but also the numbers infected at any one time, our lives are being impacted by control measures never seen before in Australia. The government is advising against all forms of nonessential travel, and as long as people ignore that advise they will continue with draconian measures such as closing State borders. We as a 4x4 club pride ourselves on promoting the Tread Lightly principal, leaving only footprints as evidence of our travels around this country. Why would we want to ignore government advice and go on trips and risk either spreading this virus further afield or even bring it back home with us. With regard to our Easter trip the trip organiser and leader and I have been in discussion with each other, and the Station owners, over the last 48 hours. We agree unanimously that it is better to cancel the trip now so people can make alternate plans for Easter. Rather than wait and see if they bring in restrictions to nonessential travel within SA, as is being proposed in other states. I have consulted with the committee, and we agree that with immediate effect all club meetings, social events and club endorsed/organised/approved trips are cancelled/suspended. This will stay in place until the Government lifts its restrictions and/or changes its advice. We do not do this lightly, but the Officers of this club are charged with duty of care to keep our members safe whilst on official club events as well as the public safe from our activities, and do not wish us as a committee nor the club to be responsible for breaching any government directives or advise. We are also requesting that all our members head all advice and guidance being issued by the Government, both SA and Federal, and keep themselves and their communities safe. It is going to seem like a long 6 months, even more so with this being prime travelling time. But we are sure we will overcome this short interruption to our lives and come September will be eager to get to a remote spot for a camp fire. In the meantime now is a good time to start on those lists we all make when away. Making changes, sorting out the packing, repacking, modifying and even giving things a well earned service and some TLC. Please stay safe, we will keep in contact with our membership through our normal means. Kind regards Garrie Negus President Murray Bridge and Districts 4x4 Club

14.01.2022 Heeding to the Health advice of the State and Federal Governments, the Executive Committee of the Nissan Patrol Club SA has made the decision that we will offic...ially go into recess until further notice. . This also means that all planned trips which are in our Trip Calendar are also cancelled. These are challenging times and together we will get through this. To all our club members stay safe, remember to social distance and stay home.

12.01.2022 Please note the temporary closure of Climies Track due to the collapse of the bridge at Montagu Creek. The track is now impassable to vehicles. 12.01.2022 #COVID19: Minister for Police David Elliot has announced that as of midnight tonight, people breaking social distancing guidelines will be given fines and possi...bly jail time. The NSW Police Minister David Elliot said individuals would be given fines of $1,000 and corporations would be hit with fines of $5,000 for breaches. He said people could also be jailed for up to six months. Mr Elliott said following on from the Prime Minister's directions on Tuesday night, these latest measures would send the message that it was taking all precautions extremely seriously. "We need to kill this virus before it kills us," he said. "For that reason the NSW Parliament introduced last night swift and certain penalties for people that don't obey the law." To back these measures, there will be increased police patrols in the community and random checks based on tipoffs to authorities.

11.01.2022 G'Day Breakaways! This Sunday we are heading to the Murray Mouth for a day trip. Contact Steve Mules for the details if you want to come and haven't already. The trip to Moonta in late March has also been cancelled due to lack of interest.

10.01.2022 22 March 2020 COVID-19 RESPONSE In response to the Health advice of the State and Federal governments, the Executive Committee of the club has resolved that we... will officially go into recess until further notice. In the interests of the health and safety of all members and in order to be compliant both legally and ethically, with the need to curtail social gatherings and group activities, we believe that this is the only viable option open to us. This also means that all planned trips which are in our Trip calendar are also cancelled All memberships shall remain current and fees for the 2020/21 year will be suspended until such time as the club resumes its normal activities. As soon as the Government restrictions are removed, we will inform all members and resume our regular activities on an agreed date to be decided by the Executive. Please direct any queries to our President Campbell Black or Vice President Rob Swann. Yours sincerely, Barossa 4WD Club Executive Committee

10.01.2022 The number of new cases in Western Australia continues to be very encouraging, and shows that the measures we have taken so far are starting to have a positive ...impact. But we cannot afford to take our foot off the pedal. The health pandemic is here in Western Australia, and unfortunately it won’t be leaving any time soon. But if we follow the advice, abide by the new rules and practice good social distancing, we can take a different direction to the rest of the country and the rest of the world. Western Australia is in a unique position - our isolation is now our best defence. And now, we must use it to our advantage. That’s why we have taken the unprecedented steps of introducing regional boundaries and brought in tough measures to restrict movement and social interaction. But as the situation continues to evolve around the world and across Australia, we need to take further steps to protect our State. We currently have restrictions in place for people coming into WA, and requiring 14 days of self-isolation - and those restrictions are working. But it makes sense that we go further now, and close Western Australia's border. Based on the medical advice, we will move to introduce a hard border closure effective from midnight, or 11.59pm, on Sunday night. I want the message to be absolutely clear to any Western Australian over east who is thinking of coming back to WA. If you need to get home to WA come home immediately. If you are an eastern-stater, and thinking about visiting WA forget about it. While we are this State of Emergency, we need you to stay where you are. The quicker we can get through this, the sooner we can get back to normal. In effect, this decision will be turning Western Australia into its own island - our own country. These are drastic steps, but also sensible and workable - and they will give us the best chance of combating the virus and minimising the spread throughout our community. A number of specific exemptions will be implemented to ensure our State can continue to operate and function. The exemptions are currently being finalised, but they will include people who perform work functions including: - Health services - Emergency service workers - Transport, freight and logistics - Specialists skills, not available in WA, - National or State security and governance, and - Courts and judicial services; There will also be exemptions for FIFO workers and their families, however strict 14-day self-isolation measures will need to be followed, when they first enter the State. Further exemptions will also apply on specific compassionate grounds. We are living in extraordinary times. It is like something we have all never experienced before. But I am just so proud of the WA response. The wider WA community have responded to this with true Western Australian spirit. Everyone knows that we are in this together and for that, I know, we will get through this. If you had asked me a couple months ago that we would be closing the WA border, I would have laughed. But, unfortunately, this is no laughing matter. This is serious. We are serious.

06.01.2022 While it might seem harmless, it’s never OK to leave a campfire unattended, even for only a few minutes. A quick swim or bushwalk nearby is more than enough tim...e for an ember to spark a bushfire. Conservation Regulator and Forest Fire Managements officers often find campfires unattended while campers have quickly gone for a drive or headed to the nearest town for supplies, not realising the risk. The risk is real, and anyone found breaching campfire safety rules face on the spot fines of $496, while the maximum penalty for lighting a fire in the open air on a day of Total Fire Ban is $39,652 or two years imprisonment, or both. You can help by familiarising yourself with the safety rules before lighting a campfire.
