21.01.2022 Respect, Integrity, Service, Courage - the core values of Fire and Rescue NSW. To say this shone through on Saturday would be an understatement! Over a dozen FRNSW Retained and Permanent stations, one FRNSW Duty Commander, one FRNSW Senior Instructor, two RFS Area Command Staff, one RFS District Staff, eight RFS members, family and friends combined to produce a 50+ strong workforce to volunteer their time over the weekend to help a family during what is an extremely tough ti...me! Out of respect and a show of support the crew worked tirelessly to transform the landscape of the family home of 507 Woolgoolga Station Commander, Captain Drew Armitage, who is currently battling significant health concerns. From shovelling, wheelbarrowing, painting, concreting and retaining wall building everyone dug in with hard work and determination showing the true spirit of teamwork and camaraderie. On behalf of the whole crew at 507 we extend our sincerest thanks to all that attended and of course we wish Drew and his family all the best! #morethanfire #preparedforanything

21.01.2022 The crew at Woolgoolga Fire and Rescue, Station 507, would like to extend our huge appreciation to the Lions Club of Woolgoolga for the donation of a Kitchen Fire Simulator to our brigade The Lions Club’s generous donation is a huge milestone for our station as previously we had to book the one simulator in our zone well in advance. The ownership of our own simulator will allow our crew to engage with our community and enhance our education and awareness activities which w...e look forward to undertaking as COVID restrictions ease. It was a pleasure to have members of Woolgoolga Lions attend the station today to officially hand over the equipment to the station and witness a demonstration of its operation. It is timely to remind our community the importance to keep looking while cooking and NEVER put water on an oil fire!! Once again a massive thank you to the members of Woolgoolga Lions!! #community #morethanfire #preparedforanything

10.01.2022 Last night the crew at 507 conducted a search and rescue drill through the former Woolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club clubhouse. In our send off to the building manikins were hidden inside for the crew to locate and upstairs was filled with artificial smoke to add another realistic element to the drill. Thank you to the Surf Club for allowing us to utilise the building you called home for a number of years to create a realistic drill scenario. All the best with the next chapter in your new facility.

09.01.2022 The crew from Woolgoolga 507 today attended the Plantations development to provide residents with: - An information session on fire safety in the home - Changed over smoke alarm batteries - A demonstration of our Kitchen Fire Simulator (kindly donated by the Lions Club of Woolgoolga)... A big thank you to the management and residents of the Plantations community for engaging our local Fire and Rescue station to conduct this activity. As well as for their understanding as half the crew rushed off a couple of times to respond! It was so great to get out and interact with our local community ensuring preparedness and delivering important information to prevent incidents. 08.01.2022 Here kitty kitty we know you are up there The age old question - do we actually get cats out of trees? The answer ... YES! The crew at 507 today responded to a call for an animal rescue where the cat had managed to get itself stuck in a tree and wouldn’t come down. A quick wrestle to get the ladder up in the tree and we had the cat down in no time with no drama and one very happy owner ... Cat-astrophe averted #preparedforanything #morethanfire #Fire #Rescue #Hazmat

06.01.2022 Thursday 10 September is R U Ok? day HERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?' 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK?Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life.... You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life.
