25.01.2022 Hi all. As we progress closer to a restart a form will be sent to all Parents and Guardians that will need to be signed and returned either prior to or on the first night back at Cadets. Trial activities are being undertaken by NT and SA and subject to safe completion we may be looking at a restart mid-July. So please keep an eye on your emails as information will be sent via this means. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

24.01.2022 Yesterday our new Head Boy and Head Girl represented Hedland Senior High School with pride as they paid tribute to our fallen soldiers at the Remebrance Day Cer...emony. Three of our students also represented the youth of Hedland as they performed their duties as part of the 514 ACU Australian Army Cadets. We are proud of our students who want to actively be a part of our community and show leadership by representing the youth of Hedland. Well done Damien, Annabella, Lucy, Diego and Elsie. We look forward to see you grow as leaders within our community.

24.01.2022 Some important news regarding the Cadet parade location. Due to facility maintenance delays, the unit will be parading out of the Hedland Senior High School as of Monday 5 November 2018. This is not a permanent move, rather a move to allow cadets some degree of comfort on thier parade night. Entry will be via the staff carpark on Roberts Road.

23.01.2022 Cadets embracing drill lessons in a/c while its 31 outside

23.01.2022 As we all become accustomed to social isolation measures, thoughts will no doubt drift to those quiet weekends where your children were away with Army Cadets. We will keep you informed of any decisions in relation to when we can restart. This will no doubt be a while away. In the meantime stay healthy. Regards 514 ACU Staff

23.01.2022 Location Update. Please be advised that the unit will start back at the Pilbara regt next Monday in Port Hedland. The aircon is fixed !!! Please spread the word

22.01.2022 Hi All, Our weekly Zoom lessons are on tonight. The invitation is sent out via Cadet email which should forward to the parents email. A text is also sent to the parents phone. If as a parent you are not receiving notifications can you let us know so we can update your contact details

22.01.2022 As the year closes it is sad that the tradition of cadets handing back uniforms never ceases. Tonight it was Cadet SGT Elsie Grossmith's turn. Having spent 4 years with the unit it is hard to quantify her influence. The personal growth, mentorship and influence to other cadets it has been a pleasure to have her. Ill health stopped her from reaching CUO. In what would have been only our 3rd CUO and second female CUO. As OC it was a pleasure to present her with her drill cane a...nd sash as they carried to much weight to expect another cadet to live up to. Each cadet NCO in their own right is unique and it is unfair to compare against others and the sash and cane would have always been referred to as Grossmith's. She is off on a drive to NSW with two trucks 4 horses, dogs and family to help her family start a new life. The unit staff all wish her well and as we say in the Pilbara, "once you've had the red dirt between your toes you'll always think of returning". Also tonight was the second last night for Cadet Corporal Damian Moloney. Once a navy cadet he transferred on the closure of TS Pilbara and for the past two years has been AAC to the core. His quiet steady demeanor again is to hard to explain and what it means at a unit. Damian parades next week for the last time before aging out. He is looking at joining ADF in the future with application underway. His influence may not be lost as he may be back as DAH next year. To these two thank you. 514 ACU Staff

19.01.2022 Well done to the Cadets chosen to take part in the Rememberane Day Service in Port Hedland.

19.01.2022 Hi All, Just a reminder that the unit is back parading tonight. Cadets welcome from 1750h. Remember that you must have sent a signed activity permission form along. There will be copies available but you must ensure they are signed at drop off. Tonight will solely be about Processes and a remeasure of those with Covid Kilos that require bigger uniforms. These processes are mandatory even for those looking at joining hat just want to pop in for a look. Hoping to see you all there tonight.

18.01.2022 The last parade 2018

18.01.2022 Another Cadet activity completed. Cooking eating digging walking carrying sleeping listening no talking and more walking. An enjoyable weekend. Well done to SGT Olivares to his promotion to WO2. "Call me Sir"

16.01.2022 Trying to convince your mates to join? Weve got a solution, the AFX 2019 video...

14.01.2022 Hi all. The unit is not parading tonight as I finalise the tasks needed for restart. An email has been sent with a consent form that is needed to allow you to restart. More information to follow this week once the taskings are finished.

13.01.2022 Special Thanks to Hedland Bus line for letting us use there bus to travel to Marble Bar and back home

13.01.2022 Hi all, the unit is currently working on trying to get a weekly programme up and running so that cadets can continue with the theory training thus allowing them to get qualifications especially for promotions. I will keep you advised and naturally it will be presented on the internet. Stay healthy and in a week or two I will be in touch.

13.01.2022 Some good news for the unit Cadets. Approval has been given to start Digital Media lessons for the Unit online. Planning is underway and presentations should start around 1 May. The unit will be in touch shortly via email to let you all know of the arrangements. Stay Healthy.

11.01.2022 Our new unit t shirts have arrived. It has been remarked that it shows the coastline with its rivers and outlying islands. I am just more interested in not losing them!

11.01.2022 Pilbara Patrol is over. The kids are home smellier than ever. They were tested and have come back with more resilience and an appreciation of new food groups. The unit starts back first week of school. See you then.

11.01.2022 Hi all. As you may now be aware the unit is starting its digital activities tomorrow night at 1800h. The conference will be via Zoom and tomorrow will be about the Zoom platform and how it is used. The following weeks will start to cover off on lessons that would normally be conducted in a classroom. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

09.01.2022 Having successfully attended courses over the July school holidays it was a pleasure to promote CDTCPL Olivares to Sgt and pass on the Student of merit award to CDTLCPL Slade for his outstanding work on the communications course at Pilbara Patrol 18.

09.01.2022 Were Back!!!! Remember the unit starts back tomorrow night at the Hedland Senior High School, entrance off Roberts Road. I know as parents you have been looking forward to it. Well, bring them on down and any new cadets you are welcome as well.

09.01.2022 Hi everyone. At 1300h today an email was received with part of the permission to re commence parading signed off and approved. But just like when you buy a set of steak knives there is more. In this case admin and physical inspection counts to achieve. So there will be no zoom lessons for the next few weeks to allow the staff time to complete these taskings taking into account covid distancing. Unfortunately we cannot have cadets assist. I anticipate 2 weeks and an approval letter later we will be back parading. Looking forward to it just as much as you.

09.01.2022 Calling all TS Pilbara Navy Cadets. Are you aware that TS Pilbara is now parading with the Army cadets on a Monday night at Pilbara Regiment Depot Wilson Street from 1800h? If you are still interested and have your uniform come on down so we can start the unit parading. For anyone interested in joining either Army or Navy Cadets feel free to come is as well. All we require is closed shoes.

07.01.2022 Due to the current weather and potential for flooding especially in the area of the depot please be advised that Cadets are cancelled on Monday.

05.01.2022 ADFC has announced that cadets around the country are suspended indefinitely. A restart date will not be set until the current situation eases and social isolation rules are relaxed. Our thoughts to those families that were leaving town, going overseas for family gatherings or holidays. Stay healthy!

03.01.2022 A quick dash out bush this weekend saw the new Battalion Commander attend for the weekend. Another visitor was this fellow. The Cadets also practiced creating a hide. Take note parents they now know how to weed a garden. Cadets, learning valuable life skills.

02.01.2022 Another dawn and another day of activity. All is going well even in this unseasonal warm weather.

02.01.2022 Good news. Confirmation was received today that the unit can restart next monday. So can i remind you to have your consent forms on you signed. I have received one already by email. See you next week.

01.01.2022 Please be advised as of midnight tonight cadets will be suspended in response to Covid -19 containment. This will result in the suspension of all parade nights, overnight activities and support to any ceremonial occasions. As more news becomes available we will keep you informed. This action is not in response to any cadet or staff being tested or being a positive diagnosis but is aimed at reducing the risk of exposure to cadets.
