23.01.2022 Heads up! This horse "Mnementh" was nommed for the same BM58 race as Kotinos at Nowra on Sunday. Gets into a Highway quite nicely, so the trainer's confidence should be respected.

22.01.2022 Happy Retirement Pat. A very good horse trainer and outstanding person.

22.01.2022 Get your thinking caps on. Some great prizes to win.

21.01.2022 [edit] Lots of chatter about suitable jockeys at carnival time. Just like all trades, there is a big difference between the best and the average. Consider this: you don’t see P-platers or streetcar racers driving in F1 races. Thanks to Ron Dufficy for reminding me of this quote from the legendary trainer TJ Smith (who would usually have all his stable worked and fed before most trainers had made it out the the centre of the track).

20.01.2022 Looks like Spring has come early to Randwick, with some great racing assured as the ‘carnival horses’ resume. Meanwhile, at our premier Provincial course, Maiden races dominate the program, making up 6 of the 9 races on Broadmeadow’s Saturday card. Looks like easy pickings for the Metro stables. While Gilgandra has only 2 of 6 races for the Maiden grade. Food for thought.

19.01.2022 Changing Lanes is coming along very nicely indeed.

17.01.2022 And just like that, the Port Macquarie Cup of 2020 is done and dusted. A field of 10, with only 3 locals, and the trifecta goes to Sydney stables.

06.01.2022 One of the very best trainers in the country. Les doesn’t need to prove a thing to anyone. He’s won some of the biggest races, so it would be so fitting if he could grab an Everest.

02.01.2022 Fair dinkum. If the stewards are consistent with this decision we’re going to see plenty copping time right across the state. Go back over a few Steward’s Reports and you’ll find jockeys using exactly the same explanation Bowman did, and not being suspended. Fair dinkum!
