22.01.2022 That's a wrap! The exhibition "64" is officially finished! A huge thanks to everyone that came along during the SALA Festival and saw the exhibition in person. I had so many interesting conversations with many interesting people who were all keen to share their stories and thoughts on domestic violence in our community. My primary goal for the exhibition was to raise awareness around domestic violence, and I am thrilled beyond words knowing that we managed to achieve that goa...l. I hope that everyone continues to discuss the facts and share their experiences with others. It's only through education and exposure that we are able to change the social conscience for the better. At the same time, I'm very pleased to have raised some funds for Catherine House - Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness. The final tally is still being put together (will update later on), but every little bit helps and we have managed to raise a few thousand dollars so far. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say thank you to everyone who has generously donated to this wonderful organisation. Although, it's not too late to contribute, so if you have a few dollars to give to those that need the help, please donate now at: http://bit.ly/64exhibition I'll have some more post-exhibition information to share with you all in the coming days, but for now please know I appreciate everyone who engaged with the project and I hope we all keep having productive conversations in the future. Thank you! #painting #art #artist #canvas #adelaideartist #adelaidehills #adelaide #portrait #popart #SALA #SALA2019 #catherinehouse #hashtag
10.01.2022 Hi everyone! This is just a quick final post to let you all know that over the course of 64 Exhibition, we managed to raise a total of $3,566.91 for Catherine House - Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness. While I may have set my goal a little too high, I'm so grateful for all the support that you have all shown for this excellent cause. There are so many different organisations and charities out there that we can give our money to, so thank you for choosing to give yo...urs to my campaign! Plus, my main goal with the exhibition was to raise awareness and get people talking about domestic violence in our community. After spending the month of August talking with so many different people and seeing everyone interact with the exhibition, I'm certain that I've managed to achieve this goal. Of course, none of this would be possible without the help of people like you and others in our community, so thank you so much for taking the time! I encourage everyone to continue the conversation about domestic violence, as it will take all of us to continue discussing the appalling facts along with solutions. This is the way that we can all change our society for the better - by making these behaviours known and unacceptable on a societal level. Anyway, thank you again for taking part in the project and contributing your voice, and your money. If you want to keep track of what's next, then please follow Abatage Studios, where i will continue posting in the future. I might even do a bit of a post-mortem write up about the whole exhibition process at some stage - so stay tuned if that's your kind of thing! =) #painting #art #artist #canvas #adelaideartist #adelaidehills #adelaide #portrait #popart #SALA #SALA2019 #catherinehouse #hashtag
08.01.2022 We recently purchased an ENTIRE art exhibition from Abatage Studios "64 Collection" being 64 pop art portraits representing the average number of men and women ...murdered each year due to family violence. All proceeds of the collection were donated to Catherine House - Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness which we are super pleased to support. The collection is making it's way to our Adelaide meeting rooms (exciting .... we'll find a way to fit them!). In the meantime, here is a taste of a few of our favourites ... See more
05.01.2022 Just a few days left until the end of the 2019 SALA Festival, and the end of 64 Exhibition! A big thanks to everyone who stopped by on the weekend after checking out the Goodwood Road street party - it was great to see so much interest in the exhibition and talk to more people. I'm still blown away by some of the conversations I've had with so many different people. One thing that I keep being reminded of, is how domestic violence is an issue that really does effect everyone.... It doesn't matter where you come from or where you are in life, this is an issue that impacts us all. Talking with visitors to the exhibition is just the start to combating domestic violence in our society. We all need to remind those around us that violence is NEVER an acceptable way to interact with another human being, let along someone we are close to and care for. However, we're still living in a society where domestic violence is a regular occurrence that hurts so many every day. Help me make a real difference and support those that who have the misfortune of experiencing domestic violence first hand, by supporting my Challenge For Change fundraising campaign for Catherine House - Support for Women Experiencing Homelessness. Donate here: http://bit.ly/64exhibition While we work on educating perpetrators of violence that their behaviour is unacceptable, we must look after those that are currently suffering. Catherine House are an essential and unique service in Adelaide who provide vital and much needed services. This is just one way that we can turn talk into action so please dig deep and donate here: http://bit.ly/64exhibition Many thanks to everyone who has already supported and generously given to the exhibition and engaged with the issue. If you haven't had a chance to see 64 Exhibition in person yet, there are just a few days left before it closes for good! #painting #art #artist #canvas #adelaideartist #adelaidehills #adelaide #portrait #popart #SALA #SALA2019 #catherinehouse #hashtag
