25.01.2022 Giving back to the local community is something that 7th Signal Regiment endeavours to do as often as they can. The people and businesses from around the Darling Downs area provide a tremendous level of support to not only the Regiment but everyone located at Borneo Barracks. This year, there have been numerous requests for support from the local community and the unit is only too proud to oblige. The activities have ranged from interactive displays at schools and camps to charity appeals such as Legacy. 7th Signal Regiment would like to express its sincere gratitude to the local community for their generous and continued support throughout the year.
24.01.2022 The day to day operations of 7th Signal Regiment requires a lot of hard work and dedication from all the members of the unit. For a number of soldiers, this work ethic further translates into significant personal achievement outside the Regiment. This year we have had Lance Corporal Maloney selected to captain the Australian Defence Force Netball Association Ladies team, who took out second place in the Arafura Games. We have also had members chosen to represent a number of t...eams in hockey and rugby union. Most recently, three members of the unit were selected to take part in the Army Surf Riders Association Development Camp held at One Mile beach. This will help them in preparation to represent Army at the Inter-Service Surfing Championship in 2020. We have also had soldiers recognised for providing assistance to members of the Beckett family who were unfortunately involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier this year. The continued performance of members from 7th Signal Regiment outside the workplace is a true testament to the calibre of the soldiers, not only within the ranks of the unit but within Army holistically.

23.01.2022 Military parades are conducted for a multitude of reasons and are steeped in time honoured traditions. In 2019, soldiers from 7th Signal Regiment have participated in quite a number of parades and every time they have been tailored to the event taking on various formats dependant on the requirements. More often than not, the purpose of these parades has been for the Regiment to come together so they can publicly recognise the achievements of our soldiers past and present. Thi...s can be through promotion to the next rank, awarding of a medal or commendation or presentation of a certificate of appreciation. At other times they have been commemorative in nature, such as ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day. This year has even seen 7th Signal Regiment exercise its right of freedom of entry to the City of Toowoomba, something which has only happened twice before. 7th Signal Regiment would like to congratulate every soldier that has been promoted or received an award this year.
22.01.2022 Group Programs - please call Open Arms if you'd like to attend.
20.01.2022 In early March, 7th Signal Regiment conducted Exercise Bear Rush in Wide Bay training area. This was but one exercise the Regiment conducted in preparation for Exercise Talisman Sabre. With each subsequent exercise or training activity undertaken, a greater level of complexity was added thus ensuring the unit was well postured to provide unique, specialist capabilities to various elements within Army. Pictured is Commanding Officer 7th Signal Regiment receiving a situation brief from one of the soldiers. Also pictured are other members of the unit participating in the exercise.
19.01.2022 Commencing at approximately 4.55 pm, the Australian War Memorial farewells visitors with its moving Last Post Ceremony in the Commemorative Courtyard. Each night the ceremony shares the story behind one of the names on the Roll of Honour. The ceremony begins with the Australian national anthem followed by the pipers lament. Visitors are invited to lay wreaths and floral tributes beside the Pool of Reflection. An individuals story is told and the Ode is recited by Australian... Defence Force personnel. The ceremony ends with the sounding of the Last Post. On 15 Oct 19, two soldiers from 7th Signal Regiment were afforded the honour of laying a wreath at the Last Post Ceremony on behalf of the Regiment. Private Gabriel along with Corporal Aveston (a British Army soldier on exchange) were conducting a professional development tour of Canberra which included the Australian War Memorial. 7th Signal Regiment would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff from Army Headquarters and the Australian War Memorial who made it possible to be part of such an inspiring tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters in arms. Previous Last Post Ceremonies can be viewed on the Australian War Memorial website at www.awm.gov.au
18.01.2022 The Defence Community Organisation has invited all members and their families in the Darling Downs to the Defence Community Expo being held at the Cobb & Co Museum this Saturday from 10am- 2pm.
18.01.2022 It would come as no surprise that physical training is an integral part of military training. For the most part this is conducted under the watchful eye of a Physical Training Instructor. This not only allows soldiers to carry out their duties in physically demanding conditions but also postures soldiers to undertake physical activities outside Regimental or Squadron PT. Throughout the year, members from 7th Signal Regiment participated in a variety of very physically demandi...ng events. Some of these included the Milne Bay Military Challenge which is a 7, 15 or 30 km run/walk through the national parks of Toowoomba; the Toowoomba Marathon Festival being a marathon that was run on the newly opened Toowoomba bypass; and the Simpson Desert Bike Challenge that sees competitors take on nearly 500 km through the Australian outback. In all such events that soldiers have undertaken, they performed exceptionally well and the Regiment is extremely proud of their performance and dedication.
17.01.2022 What an outstanding effort we have seen recently from the men and women of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES in battling the bushfires that have threatened our community. But as you can see from their post below, it is not any one group or individual but quite a number of services and organisations who have provided their time and resources in the hour of need. The level of support shown is a testament to the spirit of the people in our community and 7th Signal Regiment is truly honoured to be a part of this. We wish everyone who has been involved with or affected by the bushfires all the very best.
17.01.2022 Corps Week rugby is off to a great start for 7th Signal Regiments womens team. It was a hard fought match in warming conditions but in the end, the ladies came away with a 22-7 win. We congratulate them on their efforts and wish both the womens and mens team all the very best for the remainder of the competition.
17.01.2022 Throughout the course of the year, 7th Signal Regiment participated in the Joint Warfighter Series. This a sequence of exercises and activities that culminated in Exercise Talisman Sabre. As the name would suggest, the aim is to hone the skills of soldiers in a joint environment, across land, air and sea. Whilst 7th Signal Regiment provided specialist support to various commanders, they were joined by members from the United States Marine Corps, United States Army, British Army, Canadian Armed Forces as well as the New Zealand Defence Force. The Regiment was also able to integrate with a diverse range of Australian Defence Force assets to further enhance the support provided. The Joint Warfighter Series is an excellent platform from which the unit can demonstrate the skills and knowledge developed throughout the year.
17.01.2022 With 2019 rapidly drawing to a close, it seems an appropriate time to reflect on events that have transpired for not only 7th Signal Regiment but for its members as well. Over the coming days we will look back on what has been achieved both professionally and personally. On the 8th of February, a new generation of soldiers came to life with the return of 138 Signal Squadron to Army. They became the 5th sub-unit of 7th Signal Regiment and a parade was held to signify the transition of authority from the Chief Information Officer Group to Army.
15.01.2022 Innovation and experimentation are an integral part of moving forward for the Australian Defence Force. Within the ranks of 7th Signal Regiment, ideas and concepts are encouraged and nurtured through various mediums. It is this bottom up innovation that helps develop and shape Defence projects. This year, soldiers from the Regiment have continued to take conceptual ideas and turn them into a viable reality. Starting out within the unit, this innovation has seen teams perform ...to an exceptionally high standard in the 6 Brigade and Special Operations Command Soldier Initiative Expo all the way through to the Defence Entrepreneurs Forum Australia. Teams from the unit took out second and third place at DEFAUS 19, which is an outstanding achievement for those involved. Soldiers have also partnered with students from various universities to take "blue sky thinking" and push the boundaries with new ideas. See more
15.01.2022 Another great day of competition during Corps Week has come to a close. Two amazing games of rugby were played out this afternoon at the Highfields Sporting Complex. The first match was the RASIGS Womens team versus Queensland Police Service Womens side. It was a close game from start to finish but the RASIGS Womens team hung in for 20-17 win. Next up was the RASIGS versus RAEME Mens teams and what a nail biting finish they produced. After 80 minutes of hard hits and fa...st runs, it came down to a 19 all draw. 7th Signal Regiment would like to congratulate all players from the mens and womens teams. They would also like to express their appreciation to everyone who made today a great part of Corps Week. Without the support of referees, medics, coaches, drivers, ground staff and everyone else, events like this would not be such a success.

13.01.2022 Happy 119th birthday Army On this day in 1901 the Australian Army was born through the amalgamation of the Australian colonial forces following federation and each year, units from around Australia celebrate Armys birthday. Soldiers from 7th Signal Regiment came together on Friday to share a piece of cake on this auspicious occasion. As is tradition, the Commanding Officer was on hand with the units youngest soldier to cut the cake. The Regiment then took the opportunity ...to promote members as well as present a number of honours and awards. We would like to extend our gratitude to those members of the local community who took time out to be present at the parade and engage with the soldiers. We would also like to thank those family and friends who came out to witness their loved ones being promoted. Congratulations to all those soldiers who received an award, honour or were promoted.
13.01.2022 On the afternoon of 8 Feb this year, Mrs Ann Beckett was travelling with Miss Caity Beckett along the New England Highway. Unfortunately they were involved in a motor vehicle accident not far from Borneo Barracks. A number of soldiers from the base, who were heading home for the day, were first on the scene and immediately swung into action. They were able to provide first aid to those involved in the accident and also direct traffic on what is a busy section of road. This as...sistance proved invaluable to Queensland Emergency Services who attended the incident and the soldiers were subsequently awarded certificates of appreciation from the Queensland Police Service for their efforts. Today 7th Signal Regiment was honoured to host the Beckett family for morning tea, allowing everyone a chance to meet under more pleasant circumstances. The Regiment is extremely proud of the way in which members reacted to the accident and would like to thank the Beckett family for their time today.
12.01.2022 A reminder that the TDFSA will be holding their community day tomorrow at 10am! All members and their families are welcome.

11.01.2022 It may have been a little bit cold and wet on the 27th of March but that couldnt dampen the spirits of former members of 547 Signal Troop. The Royal Australian Signals Head of Corps Brigadier Susan Coyle CSC DSM presented the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation to members of 547 Signal Troop who served during the Vietnam conflict. 7th Signal Regiment was proud to be part of the parade which honoured our veterans for their extraordinary courage and bravery.
10.01.2022 Group Programs - please call Open Arms if youd like to attend.
10.01.2022 It is almost time for the soldiers of 7th Signal Regiment to say farewell to 2019 and proceed on leave for a well-deserved break. The Regiment is extremely proud of the milestones that have been achieved this year and have no doubt that this will continue into the future. At this time we also pause to reflect the role that partners, families, loved ones and friends play in the success of the unit. The support provided by family and friends is invaluable to the soldiers allowi...ng them to continually produce a very high standard of work. For this support, the Regiment would like to extend its gratitude. 7th Signal Regiment would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year. For those who are travelling over the holiday period, have a safe and enjoyable time away. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2020, however if anyone has a requirement to contact the Regiment during this time, please call the 7th Signal Regiment Duty Officer on 0407 468 852.
10.01.2022 Well done to our members of the 138th Signal Squadron based in Melbourne. This was a wonderful opportunity for our soldiers to work alongside industry professionals.
07.01.2022 As the year started drawing to a close, the last two weeks of October and the first week of November was a very busy time for 7th Signal Regiment. Starting out with Exercise Listening Crow 19, which provided an excellent opportunity for the tactical community to exercise together and work through tactics, techniques and procedures in order to inform areas for improvement. Overlapping this exercise was the Tactical Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Activity held between ...Borneo, Kokoda and Gallipoli barracks. The aim of this activity was to engage in robust discussion that enhances the understanding of national capabilities and problem sets whilst challenging current methodology. Following hot on the heels of these two activities, the RASIGS Corps Week commenced. Corps Week is a long-standing Signals Corps tradition and the highlight of the Corps calendar. The week consisted of a number of sporting events such as running, rugby union and a tug-o-war competition along with a number of social functions. Veteran Adaptive Sport Toowoomba also came out to the barracks to showcase their program which helps veterans and their families with rehabilitation and recovery. Soldiers from all units were able to participate in rowing, archery and seated volleyball. Other activities that were held concurrently during Corps Week were the Junior Leaders Problem Statement Syndicates and the annual Cyber Skills Challenge which was open to teams from all services and included involvement from industry. The challenge ran for the entire week and included workshops, presentations and a Capture-the-Flag style competition. The ability to host these events, each with their own complexities, took a significant amount of planning and coordination. 7th Signal Regiment would like to extend their thanks to everyone involved for their tireless efforts to ensure that all those who attended had a productive, safe and enjoyable time.
07.01.2022 As the rugby continues, 7th Signal Regiments mens team follow hot on the heals of the womens team. Coming away with their 2nd win of the day in a 14-0 score line. A great effort all round and everyone involved is to be commended.
06.01.2022 At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent over battlefields of World War I. Lest We Forget.
05.01.2022 The Vatican Guineas and Regimental Jewels have been run and won for 2019 . Taking out first place in the Vatican Guineas was Chemical Bromance teamed up with Velvet Sledgehammer. First place in the Regimental Jewels, after some protests and a photo finish, saw Black Magic take out the title. A great race was run by all horses and jockeys. 7th Signal Regiment was honoured to have Mr Jim Danskin present to hand out the shields and prizes for both events.

04.01.2022 Throughout history, military forces have worked with their allies towards a common goal. While the uniforms and weapons may have changed over time, the need to integrate and operate with our allies has not. For 7th Signal Regiment, there has not been a time this year where soldiers from across the globe have not been a part of the unit. This is also something that has been reciprocated as we have had soldiers spend time abroad. Regardless of where an exchange has taken place, the end state is always the same; the sharing of information and development of greater methods of integration. This allows enhanced cohesion when forces are working together either on exercise or deployment.
04.01.2022 Each year, units all over Australia say farewell to members while welcoming others and today 7th Signal Regiment did just that. A parade was conducted to farewell the Commanding Officer and Regimental Sergeant Major whilst welcoming the command team for 2020. This transition of authority was symbolised by the handing over of the unit flag from one Commanding Officer to the next. With the unit on parade, it also provided an excellent opportunity to promote soldiers to the next... rank and also award other members commendations for their outstanding service to Army. Braving the Queensland heat, quite a number of family, friends, and veterans witnessed this auspicious occasion. 7th Signal Regiment would like to express its thanks to everyone who took the time to come out to Borneo Barracks today and we also would like to congratulate those soldiers who were promoted or received an award.
03.01.2022 The hosting of distinguished visitors at 7th Signal Regiment is something that not only allows the unit to deliver capability demonstrations but also provide an opportunity for soldiers to develop professionally through briefing senior leaders from Defence and industry. Throughout the year, the Regiment has been privileged to host quite a number of visitors ranging from the Chief of Army Lieutenant-General Rick Burr, AO, DSC, MVO to Director-General Training and Doctrine Brigadier Ben James to name but a few. At times our guests travel from further afield such as Deputy Commanding General United States Army Pacific, Major-General Pete Johnson. The outcomes of the briefings provided range from soldiers informing both current and future project developments to enhancing operational cohesion between our allies.
03.01.2022 A significant portion of our country has been experiencing devastating bushfires recently and unfortunately our region is no exception. At 1.45pm today the Queensland Rural Fire Service issued a Leave Immediately Emergency Warning for the Pechey / Ravensbourne area. The area that is under threat is just north of Borneo Barracks and the smoke from the fires is clearly visible from the steps of Regimental Headquarters. On Monday 11 November, the Director General Emergency Ma...nagement Australia activated the Commonwealth Disaster Plan in relation to bushfires burning in Queensland. This provided the Senior ADF Officer for Borneo Barracks with the authority to utilise Defence resources in response to local emergency contingencies in support of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. Commanding Officer, 7th Signal Regiment, has subsequently briefed the Regiment on effects that may be requested of Borneo Barracks such as logistical support, transport and emergency accommodation. All personnel from the base are now on standby so that any assistance can be provided in the local area. 7th Signal Regiment is in awe of the community spirit that is displayed in times such as these and the tireless and superhuman effort of our volunteer firefighters. We are extremely proud to be part of such an amazing local community. For everyone in the area, stay safe and we hope for a swift end to this emergency.

02.01.2022 The Defence Entrepreneurs Forum Australia is a network of serving military personnel who debate future concepts and progress ideas to tangible action. The intent is to foster conceptual innovation for the profession of arms. Throughout the year, all military members regardless of rank, service or corps, are invited to present an innovative idea which is formally presented to Army leadership at an end of year forum. DEFAUS19 was held in Canberra over the period 30 September to... 01 Oct. The two day event included a number of excellent presentations on innovation and some inspiring ideas to help improve Defence capability. After our strong performance at the 6th Brigade and Special Operations Command Soldier Initiative Expo; two 7th Signal Regiment ideas were invited to pitch at the annual DEFAUS forum focused on junior leader ideas. The DEFAUS results were outstanding! Second Place was awarded to SIG Greenberg and SIG Kendall-Robertson for the Gamified Exploitable Box. Third Place was awarded to CPL Smith for the Silent Power Supply. Further the DEFAUS committee has asked members of 7th Signal Regiment to come back next year to help mentor future participants and support their presentations. You can view the presentations through YouTube at #DEFAus19 Day 2 2:49:40 - Silent Power Supply 2:57:40 - Gamified Exploitable Box These concepts follow in the proud tradition of bottom-up innovation by members of 7th Signal Regiment and showcases our innovative culture that has developed some outstanding projects. The unit would like to pass on its sincerest congratulations to all who have contributed to this exemplary outcome.
01.01.2022 As the sun starts to set on another day of the Simpson Desert Bike Challenge, riders and their teams will be looking towards the various stages yet to run. So far they have experienced hot temperatures, gusty winds, big dunes and soft sands. Dealing with this combination of conditions requires a tremendous amount of physical and mental stamina. Pictured is one of the riders from 7th Signal Regiment taking a short break before continuing on. The riders would not be able to compete without a very dedicated team of soldiers who form an integral part of the support crew. They not only provide assistance to the 7th Signal Regiment team but to all competitors of the challenge.
