25.01.2022 Going back a bit, during our trip to Hopetoun, we enjoyed the Australia Day in this small town, meeting some lovely people, not just travellers but the towns folk too. 22.01.2022 As I sit at the riverside I pick out parts of the land scape that to me looks beautiful with the contrast in green against the water and the dirt. A real Aussie feel with the Fitzroy river low, showing the many islands formed over time. 19.01.2022 The determination of this wasp was really impressive, it wouldn’t quit dragging the spider corps up poles and across roof tops where my following stopped with a camera and just watched in amazement at the way it never gave up until it had stuffed the corps in the mud case and sealed it up for the larvae to feed when it hatched. 19.01.2022 Each time I get to a certain part of the mighty Fitzroy, it opens up new views of the landscape, but along with taking a walk along the river, I found I have eyes on me at all times. In each capture of this wild landscape, you can see a set of eyes somewhere watching, a feeling of being watched was turned on capturing the eyes watching as I went along the edge of the bank. 18.01.2022 As the light started to fade and the stars started showing, the landscape and river kept showing more & more of the wildness and the cruising shadows of freshwater crocs, to keep me company, as well as some nasty little bities worse than that of the logs that surfaced in the shadows. At least you know when a croc is gonna go ya, the bugs however... ignored the insect repellent I bathed in, and found missed spots on my feet. Even though you can hear the mosquitoes here, they’re still pretty stealthy at finding bare skin or thin parts of clothing But at the end of the night I was happy to have captured these shots. My thoughts go to the memory of my nephew @andrew_duncan2 who passed due to his fight with his illness. Love to ya, Down Under in the Wild Andrew

17.01.2022 So, here we are in lockdown, on top of that we have a fire that has raged through the night out of control in the hills. About 40 kilometres away from our house... the smoke is getting blown from the East so heading out towards the coast. In that path is us, you can see the views from my drone... the first pic shows the view towards the ocean (west) the following shots show the smoke gradually smothering the city into a heavy smog as I sit in safety I pray those in the mid...st of it are safe. 16.01.2022 A wide variety of shots in these parts are captured moments in this unbelievable part of the world, of course the area here is full of freshwater crocs. Capturing these stealthy critters has been a challenge and fun. Unlike the Salty crocs, these crocs don’t hang about and sink into the muddy depths from any resting place on the river. The islands are scattered all over the place in the river during the dry season and make a safe haven for these toothy critters. Yet they will... much prefer not to be seen than seen by us. Only the bigger crocs hang on the surface and watch you from a distance. A couple pushing about 7 ft in length. These big freshies are old the big guy I saw would possibly be between 30-50 years old depending on food source and growth rate in this area. They can live up to 70years some even possibly as old as 100. While I’ve been watching and photographing these stealthy reptiles, I have seen how smart they can be, even to the point of knowing my movements if I do the same thing each day. So I change it. Each day I head to the river is a different time and spot, yet they know when I pull up, and disappear from the banks into the water. 15.01.2022 Travelling east had a stop off at the little town called Northam where we’ve been keeping a check on some swans and their signet. Unfortunately the swans weren’t there, (hope they’re ok) but these guys were in place. 15.01.2022 One of the aspects of photography technology these days with digital, you can pick & choose what you want to portray and in colour or greyscale. Even while I sit in a cafe with my camera & phone, I can load pics straight from the camera, adjust them on my phone and stick em up on social media. One part of photography that’s never changed for me though, are the key fundamentals of the art, getting the shots you want in a single capture and not a hundred pics of the same item t...o pick one. Seeing multiple shots from a single area is one thing, but multiple shots of a single view is another. Sit back or walk around and look at angles, light, composition etc before working on the shots you want. Vision of subjects and how they would look can be done by looking at your subject before loading off the shots. That way you save space on your cards. At least once you have the shots you want, you can then play with colours or greyscale etc. That’s the beauty of technology these days. No chemicals or darkroom unless you choose to here are some of the pictures I’ve turned to greyscale from my phone But in saying that. With technology in camera’s these days you can just shoot in greyscale too. 14.01.2022 At every point of my wandering along the riverside, you get watched from every angle. There were at least 10 or 11 freshies hanging out watching me. Some just kept sunning themselves with no interest at all, others were cruising around, popping up to have a look before disappearing underwater again. As I sat watching the crocs that looked like they were almost stalking me, they were patterned around my every angle. Generally this would probably be quite unnerving to the avera...ge person that doesn’t know about these reptiles. However with the vast knowledge and experience of reptiles I knew I was in no danger. However, when it comes to the Salt water crocs then I’ll certainly be on my toes. 11.01.2022 A visit to Derby for a few supplies had me side tracked to the jetty to see how the tide was. Despite the tides being fast, they are also large. The wildlife here is amazing, you get to see so many creatures going about their business. I took a slight detour to the end of the road near the boat ramp only to come across a large number of kites. These birds were flying all around me checking me out. One just sat on the breeze right above me. This gave me the opportunity to cap...ture the first shot of the bird almost exactly in the middle of my viewfinder on my camera. A curious bird it was. I was a bit nervous about the fact it was directly above me, if it decided to let a nasty one go, I was in the firing line. It eventually moved away from my position and more came through in different patterns of flight. 06.01.2022 Getting the drone up, I got to see plenty of crocs just cruising, as I got the drone closer they would sink down and come up somewhere else, in the aerial shots, how many can you spot? I can certainly tell you with confidence that you won’t see them as much as they can see you. Apart from their great camouflage they are stealthy. 02.01.2022 Apart from the wild animals here in the far reaches of the North, there are stations (farms) in Australia with cattle roaming around. Some of these beasts are huge and often cross the roads up here. When you’re driving around these areas you need to keep an eye out so you don’t get a large dent in ya vehicle. 01.01.2022 Once you get a taste of the colours that come from sunsets & clouds, you get to enjoy the endless changes as they form and disappear, yet still get formations of patterns that leave you in Awe of the wilderness. As I sat testing a camera for someone to work out its capabilities, I had my cameras to also get some of this beautiful set from the fire in the sky to the grey patterned sky turning to darkness. 01.01.2022 While travelling east towards Kalgoorlie, we stayed at Kellerberrin to help our friends with a new venture. Today we had time to go 50klm more to another small town called Merredin. This is one of several places that have a history from the gold rush and the CY O’Conner story of getting water to the Kalgoorlie region. Each town has its part of history which is fascinating to any history buff on the way back I managed to get the drone up a couple of times. The first shot i...s of the main highway with a train track on one side and the pipeline on the other.
