25.01.2022 CALL FOR INFORMATION: Northern Territory Police continue to call for information in relation to a hit and run incident that occurred in Darwin yesterday evening. At around 5:25pm, a silver or grey sedan was travelling on Vanderlin Drive in the direction of Casuarina when it struck a 5-year-old boy crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued driving. Police have reviewed CCTV footage and identified a vehicle of interest ...travelling along Vanderlin Drive in Karama around the time of the crash. Major Crash detectives believe the vehicle is a 2002-2005 Ford Falcon, possibly an XR6 or XR8. Police seek to speak to anyone who can identify the driver or owner of this vehicle and continue to call for CCTV and dashcam footage from Vanderlin Drive that could assist to identify the vehicle. 23.01.2022 HOTSPOT REVOKED: The NT Chief Health Officer has confirmed that Mitchell Shire will be revoked as a hotspot from midday today (Friday 13 November 2020). This means that people arriving in the Northern Territory from Mitchell Shire will no longer have to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine. Anyone currently in mandatory quarantine from Mitchell Shire will be able to exit. Mitchell Shire includes the towns of Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour, Tallarook, Pyalong and Wallan.... Greater Melbourne remains a declared hotspot for the purpose of travel to the Northern Territory. For more information about hot spots and to stay up to date with the latest information visit www.coronavirus.nt.gov.au I am confident in revoking Mitchell Shire as a hotspot from midday today. Upon review of the data and the evidence there are currently no active cases and there has been no cases from an unknown source for more than 28 days." Chief Health Officer Dr Hugh Heggie said.

17.01.2022 COVID-19 FREE: The Northern Territory is officially covid-19 free for the second time with the last confirmed case now recovered. The Government is now considering if it can house Australians returning from overseas at Howard Springs.

17.01.2022 BORDER BREACH: A 23-year-old New South Wales man will front court after he allegedly crossed the Northern Territory border illegally on Monday. Police say the man arrived at the Kulgera Border Control Point and upon questioning, they discovered he had recently been in a declared hotspot. Police advised he would need to undertake 14 days mandatory quarantine if he entered the Northern Territory. The man chose not to enter the Northern Territory and drove back towards South A...ustralia. Later that day, police located the mans vehicle abandoned in a culvert approximately two kilometres south of the Kulgera Border Control Point, today they located and arrested him in Yulara. Police believe the man crossed the border on foot and then hitchhiked. The man was issued a notice to appear for: contravention of emergency declaration false statutory declaration. He will appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Monday 28 September 2020. The infringement penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011 is $5,056 for an individual and $25,280 for a business. 32,391 compliance checks have now been completed and 150 fines issued. 16.01.2022 OUTAGE: Large sections of Darwin and surrounds all the way to Katherine are without power with Territory Generation investigating a fault which has cut off supply from the Channel Island power station. The Public Utilities Group has been stood up to manage the situation. Investigations are continuing as to what is the cause of the fault but at this stage there is no timeframe for the restoration of power.

16.01.2022 BAKEWELL - DEATH: Northern Territory Police are investigating the death of a 43-year-old woman. About 6:30pm on Saturday 12 September 2020, police responded to a report of an unconscious woman. Upon arrival at a residence in Bakewell police located the woman who was deceased. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances of the womans death.

10.01.2022 TAX SCAM CALLS: Northern Territory Police are urging the public to be aware of tax scam calls. In the past two days, some Alice Springs residents have attended Alice Springs Police Station to report they had scammers contacting them from multiple phone numbers. One of the numbers displayed as Alice Springs Police Station. The scam callers stated they were from the Taxation Office and there were warrants out for the call recipients arrests. They then requested victims trans...fer large sums of money and threatened to send police to their locations. Similar reports have also been made to police in Darwin in recent days. These phone calls are not from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) or Northern Territory Police. Recipients of these phone calls are advised to ignore them. Do not provide personal details and do not to transfer money to any bank accounts. As a result of these calls, a 37-year-old man transferred a sum of $12,000 to the scammers bank account. The NT Police Cybercrime Unit is investigating. Anyone who receives these types of calls is urged to report them at Report Cyber at cyber.gov.au/. If you have suffered a financial loss through this type of fraud or other scams, report it to police on 131 444.

09.01.2022 TOURISM VOUCHERS: The second round of the Territory Tourism Voucher registrations go live at 8pm. The registration process is the same as round one, with eligible Territorians required to sign-up at www.territoryvoucher.nt.gov.au for a $200 voucher, redeemable on a $1 for $1 basis. There are extra benefits to be claimed in round 2 with an additional $200 redeemable post-travel for eligible trips over 400km from home address, with the focus on this second round of COVID-19 sti...mulus on regional dispersal. To ensure as many Territorians as possible have their chance to secure a voucher, once a voucher is issued it must be redeemed within 14 days (down from 30 in round 1). Unredeemed vouchers will be returned to the pool and be re-issued to the next person on the waitlist. Successful registrations should receive their voucher code within 7 days.

08.01.2022 HOTSPOT DECLARED: Due to the growing cluster in Sydney, the NT Chief Health officer has declared the Northern Beaches Council LGA a hotspot for travel to NT as of midnight. Anyone travelling to the NT from that area will have to undertake 14 days mandatory quarantine. Anyone who has already arrived in the Northern Territory from Northern Beaches Council LGA on or after the 11 December 2020 needs to arrange for a COVID-19 test and self-quarantine whilst awaiting the test results.
