15.01.2022 Brrr it's cold outside.. This morning the children in the Kindy room were talking about how cold it was, and how they had noticed "steam" coming out of their mouths when they breathed out. We decided to extend on this interest by asking the children what they knew about cold weather, which in turn lead to a discussion about snow. The children then had the opportunity to make their very own snow to explore, made some snowflakes from paddle pop sticks and glitter, and got creative with some snow themed play dough, adding some gem stones and coloured pom poms to make "snow monsters", "snow cakes" and many other clever creations

These visits provide opportunities for children to connect to the land, live their culture and explore nature in the beautiful environment that surrounds our centre. There is increasing evidence that children’s inner wellbeing is benefitted by being outdoors as the natural environment enhances their health, learning and behaviour by supporting personal and social development. The sense of calm and restoration gained from spending time in the bush provides children with a connection while they are young, and the hope they will build a sense of belonging and respect for the country as they grow.

We decided to take a walk in our 4-seater prams to the creek to see if we could find any birds The children and educators walked along Currumbin Creek Road, crossing at the traffic lights and made their way over to the pedestrian bridge. The children explored their fine motor and maths skills as they used the utensils to stir, pour and measure the ingredients.
