24.01.2022 Something for everybody here with the info presented by Greg Lehman. Easy to digest yet these videos are full of practical and realistic ideas.

22.01.2022 This is such a perfect follow up to my post yesterday about living well with pain! Thanks to @running.physio

21.01.2022 In fact, in many studies runners seem to be less likely to develop knee problems, perhaps due to their lower weight, reduced systemic inflammation, and the ability of cartilage to adapt and get stronger in response to regular exercise. Thats all great, but it doesnt answer another important question. What if you already have knee osteoarthritis, meaning that your cartilagethe shock absorber between the bones of your upper and lower legshas started to degenerate?

21.01.2022 Always delighted to get realtime online bookings from new and old clients via Ezybook system. https://www.ezybook.net/pages/richardlanemobilemassage/ However - sometimes it might be better to check with me that I do go to where you are. Newcastle is just a little outside my service area.

21.01.2022 Probably a Pavlovian response to therapists who have been massage for a significant number of years!

20.01.2022 The article linked to this post is mainly aimed at massage therapists (and I have posted here so that I can make sure I know I can find it again!). If you are affected by chronic pain then it may be worth a gander.

20.01.2022 Unfortunately my professional association has recently advised that most health funds will no longer provide rebates for mobile massage. Unless you are with NIB, Australian Unity or CBHS then rebates for mobile massage are a thing of the past. In order to gauge how this may impact on your reliance on mobile massage, Id be grateful if you would complete the survey linked on this post (only one question!) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XMXBMKM

19.01.2022 If you are suffering from chronic lower pain then there may be information in this free seminar that may be of interest to you.

19.01.2022 The current situation is clearly impacting the way that most businesses operate. I am still available for mobile massages with a couple of changes. The main point of this post is indicate that I will not charge any cancellation fees should you need to cancel at (very) short notice. If you become aware of that you may have any of the symptoms associated with Coronavirus then please call or text me to cancel your appointment - even if it is 5 minutes before then no problem, ...no cancellation fees will apply. I will also be limiting then number of appointments I do on a given day (+ maximising my social distancing other than massaging). Obviously Im biased but having a massage in your home is probably an advantage given that you have more control over the environment.....but there is no such thing as an emergency massage...safety first always. 18.01.2022 Appointments available over the long weekend if you are staying in Sydney. Call 0434631987 for more information or book online at https://www.ezybook.net/pages/richardlanemobilemassage/

18.01.2022 Therapeutic benefit of foam rolling minor but hey...if it feels good and you enjoy then go for it. Just dont believe your trainer/massage therapist/physiotherapist etc who tells you that you are breaking down adhesions.

18.01.2022 Hard to imagine anyone disagreeing with the sentiment that if we had had tougher restrictions two months ago / one month ago or two weeks ago then the (long term) impact of the Coronavirus would have been less. There are still therapists arguing for the right to massage. I just cant fathom why they think its ok

16.01.2022 More for National Pain Week

16.01.2022 Normally studies comparing specific exercises show little difference...but if you want to work your booty then this study shows difference between squats and hip thrusts.

15.01.2022 Even a little sustained change to lifestyle makes a difference.

14.01.2022 "Exercise helps to prevent the degradation of cartilage caused by osteoarthritis, according to a new study from Queen Mary University of London. The researchers show for the first time how mechanical forces experienced by cells in joints during exercise prevent cartilage degradation by suppressing the action of inflammatory molecules which cause osteoarthritis."

14.01.2022 Im happy if it rains because if Im not happy, its still raining. (Karl Valentin)

14.01.2022 Promise not to play whale music during a massage....

13.01.2022 Just want to share information regarding a free online course that I will be studying. The course aims to increase understanding of Multiple Sclerosis - enrolment is closing soon.

12.01.2022 Something for everybody here with the info presented by Greg Lehman. Easy to digest yet these videos are full of practical and realistic ideas.

10.01.2022 Really dont think that someone was thinking too much when they drew up this muscle chart...the caption says it all.

10.01.2022 Yes - but cyclists may benefit from employing more massage therapists.....

10.01.2022 Virtually every sketch is on-point!

09.01.2022 The world is changing so fast at the moment. In the last 24 hours on social media, the response of massage therapists has been split between those who say they will continue to offer their services until told not to and those who are saying that they cannot continue massaging with a clear conscience if there is any risk that they may be spreading the virus. One massage association in Australia has recommended that therapists stop providing services for (at least) the next 2... weeks. Another has said that it is ok to continue so long as recommended santiation and infection controls are in place. I have taken the decision to stop massaging until further notice. With the reported number of infected people in Australia increasing by around 40% in the previous 24 hours we must change mindset from trying to avoid becoming infected to behaving as though we are infected. I do not make this decision lightly as this practice is my primary source of income. At this stage, I dont know how long this suspension will be in effect but I will keep you informed. I would prefer to be over cautious and err on the side of safety, rather than potentially regret not taking actions sooner. The safety and health of clients and community is paramount. Stay Safe

09.01.2022 Whilst it is not nice having to decline providing massages for the foreseeable future, it is a decision I am comfortable to have made. If you want me to let you know when I will be able to recommence mobile massage then either DM or text me on 0434631987 and I will add you to the list.

09.01.2022 If you are working from home then your work station may not be ideal. If you feel like you need a daytime massage then please give me a call on 0434631987. I'm happy to be flexible with timing/pricing if you can't quite fit in a full hour.

09.01.2022 Massage therapists probably fall into 3 camps (1) "biomechanical fixers" (2) energy workers (3) pain science advocate... Dont think Ive ever been in the 2nd group but definitely have moved from the 1st to the 3rd group through my time as a massage therapist. Peter OSullivans* words resonate with me.... "What I Dont do is use Hands On to tell the patient that I am fixing their dysfunctions and instabilities or to reinforce dependence on passive therapies Be wary of any professional who tells you that you are broken and only they can fix you. *Peter OSullivan is recognised internationally as a leading clinician, researcher and educator in the management of complex musculoskeletal pain disorders. Check out videos of him on Youtube or through his pain education website at http://www.pain-ed.com/

06.01.2022 Food for thought for national pain week.

06.01.2022 ARTHRITIS . I often get asked by patients why have I got arthritis, or how does arthritis happen? . Well lets just say its bloody complicated and still not fu...lly understood, but this is a very simplistic way I tend explain arthritis. . Its not perfect, or 100% accurate so bear with me, but its pretty close. . Our joints cartilage is both a-neural and a-vascular meaning it doesnt have a nutrition or waste removal service. . Instead it relies on the movement of water in an out of it to feed it and keep it clean! . Water is constantly being drawn into cartilage by high amounts of molecules called proteoglycans within it, and its then squeezed out by the forces it experiences during movement and loading! . When there is a break down in this transportation of water in and out of cartilage things tend to go down hill quickly . One of the most common misunderstandings about early arthritis is its often caused by increased levels of water in the cartilage. . This is more often than not due to not ENOUGH water being squeezed out of cartilage meaning waste products are not removed and the cartilages environment becomes toxic. . This then begins a chemical cascade and the shit show of cartilage degeneration begins. . Our joint cartilage needs tonnes of force everyday to squeeze water out of it and remove these waste products. . However, the GOOD NEWS is early OA is often reversible, yes reversible by INCREASING joint loading to force more water and waste products out of and improve cartilages cellular environment. . This is why exercise and joint loading is so IMPORTANT and ESSENTIAL for arthritis! . Often is not too much but too little loading that is the culprit! . So start spreading the word that its not wear n tear... its more wear and repair! . #Physio #physiotherapist #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #sportsphysio #sportsphysiotherapy #trainer #personaltrainer #coach #strengthcoach #osteopath #osteopathy #chiropractic #chiropractor #sportstherapy #sportstherapist #rehab #therapy #myotherapy #kinesiotherapy #exercisephysiology #exercisephysiologist #dptstudent #shouldercomplex #cantgowronggettingstrong See more

03.01.2022 There is a time and place for MRI scans, in particular to rule out serious conditions. However when scans show similar pathology for both painful and pain free joints then their importance is obviously limited as a diagnostic tool.

03.01.2022 & in a similar vein to post yesterday who ever thought a skelton with jazz hands could be sexy

02.01.2022 Doubt there has ever been a massage therapist who has not gone into a panic when they cant find a nail file.

01.01.2022 Just because you have been told you have a rotator cuff tear doesnt mean you have to race into surgery.
