25.01.2022 Met a new client late last week looking for alterations to a bust form they have purchased. It was lovely to be able to provide a safe space for a person starting to be their true selves.
25.01.2022 Happy New Year to you all. This fun little fatsuit happened just before Christmas :)
25.01.2022 The best part about the new dye pot is emptying it without having to lift 50ltrs of hot dye off the burner.
24.01.2022 A very happy client!
21.01.2022 For the next few months, I’m off to help build the new Frozen production. Let me know if you have some projects that have lots of lead time :)
21.01.2022 Entering an ADC textile competition. The quote of the day...the worst that can happen is the same as not entering...
20.01.2022 I unwrapped my natural dyeing (for the second time) and this is the result. I’m really pleased. This used only burnt pieces from our property. Different lights make a difference too.
20.01.2022 This is the regeneration of the bush. Beautiful purples (I’m told it’s Angophora - which also creates a beautiful bark), reds and greens. On a silk satin - so a different finish.
20.01.2022 The last trip up to Putty gave me these beautiful pieces. There’s one with Copper pipe which made the leaves an amazing shade of green.
19.01.2022 The gorgeous Rhys Farmer commissioned a corset from me. We had a very successful fitting yesterday and there were smiles (and hugs) all ‘round. The busk arrived today and I’ve got to dye some Lycra for some matching knickers.
18.01.2022 I’m making some doctors coats for a local surgeon and doing some natural dyeing in the sun to make them a little more fabulous!
16.01.2022 Merino wool straight from the sheep’s back! It is super crinkly and very soft. We got to visit a friend’s farm in Mumbil NSW.
15.01.2022 Today I donated 3 big bags of fabric to Reverse Garbage and bought a laundry tub from The Bower for $10!
15.01.2022 My new dye pot is huge! And awesome!
12.01.2022 We have a place in the bush that was threatened by fire several times over the last couple of months. We were very lucky and the fires went around us for the most part. Our anxiety levels were huge for a long time. Near the house, there’s been an old copper here for ages, and I got it set up with an old gas ring and gave it a bit of a clean. For the last 2 days I’ve been wandering up hills and through the burnt trees. I wanted to try and capture the colours of the burnt bush. I picked dead leaves and branches and gumnuts. Wrapped them in silk and steamed them in the copper. It looks like it might be a success, but the process of natural dyeing means I have to wait and see.
12.01.2022 Shiny PVC boots (shoe covers). The walking foot machine got a work out last week.
10.01.2022 Potassium Permanganate is truly one of the funnest things I get to use in art finishing. You spray it on purple and it becomes the best sweat stain.
10.01.2022 Another fun, and very different natural dyeing workshop.
06.01.2022 The airbrush colour is tan what do you think? And that ring in the bath was it washing off!
03.01.2022 They got bigger and I am super pleased with the result. There are 4 pairs in total.
01.01.2022 In the end there was orange and pink ..... a long story, but 5 coats went off to the medical professionals on Friday.
01.01.2022 And back to Frozen for fittings next week. It’s a very strange world for musical theatre!
