23.01.2022 Woodburytypes are SO beautiful. Very complicated process, but the end result is an ink on paper print with no light sensitive component. The print itself is usually cut out of the original paper ( to crop out the messy edges) and mounted on another paper that will have the word "Woodburytype" printed on it.

20.01.2022 Jigsaw puzzles are a thing in iso, right? This one was easy, but still took a couple of hours to finish for some reason

19.01.2022 Here is a good reason not to let things get light damaged. I've been looking for this book for 3 days, looking for an orange/red spine. I couldn't find it because the damn thing has faded to blue!

19.01.2022 At long last, we can announce the publication of a digitisation guide co-written with Museums & Galleries of NSW. Take a look and let me know what you think! https://mgnsw.org.au//crystal-clear-standards-and-guidanc/

17.01.2022 It was with great pleasure that I got out of the house and spent 2 hours with Collections staff from @canberramuseumandgallery on Friday. Rowan Henderson from the Gallery first approached me about this training in October, last year, but one or two small catastrophes in the world meant it kept being put off until now! Ten staff attended the training session which focussed on how different material types require different handling techniques, and how to thoroughly inspect ...incoming loan items for any signs of insect activity. This latter issue is especially important when items are coming in from private collections and private homes where museum standard storage is not in place. Many thanks to Rowan and Tamara Gervasoni for thinking of @a3collectionservices.

16.01.2022 Just sat in on a very interesting webinar from AMAGA Victoria - "Closed during Covid-19". Based on the document recently released by the AICCM and Blue Shield Australia on responding to a lock down and recovering from it. A few interesting take-aways - current research suggests the virus cannot live for more than 7 days on a surface, so placing new donations or loan returns in isolation for 7 days before working on them in any capacity is recommended - don't clean the collec...tion - use the 7 day isolation approach if the collection may have been exposed to the virus - interactive displays in galleries should be wiped down between every user just like the self service checkouts at the supermarket - don't share equipment in the lab unless it is sanitised between uses - thoroughly clean your area if someone else will be using that space after you. #collectionsinlockdown @AICCM_OZ @BlueShieldAus

15.01.2022 This is part 2 of Dye Sblimation printing. Watch part 1 first.

14.01.2022 Big Announcement! Ian Batterham and I are collaborating to bring you super-funtime conservation training. Have a look here. (Ian and I are looking quite different theses days) https://www.canberra.edu.au//introduction-to-photographic-

08.01.2022 Finally! Another process post. This is Dye Sublimation in two parts. This is part 1

07.01.2022 Wouldn't it be good if we could digitise things wet? So much more clarity.

05.01.2022 Sometimes silvering out just doesn't want to come off. So, it gets covered. Before, during and after shots.

01.01.2022 Thanks Australian Museums and Galleries Association for a great webinar on digitization. A3 Collection Services has all the equipment you listed as necessary, and a van to get it all to your collection. We can do the digitization, or train local staff and volunteers to do it themselves.
