25.01.2022 Important update! The Victorian government and VACC have now recognised the importance of regular and scheduled service and maintenance and I am happy to say we can now service your car following our Covid-safe plan and this includes mobile services and all repairs! Turns out cars were just as unhappy about not being let out as we were, so if your car is feeling depressed, I will make it feel all better! ... Bookings are filling up fast!

25.01.2022 Been getting done real brain busters lately... VW polo in for an intermittent and difficult to replicate issue with the ABS system... ABS unit sent for testing/repair and an open circuit in the wiring harness was found.

This job towed in to Surrey Hills HQ from my RACV rounds, Had two injectors open circuit and discovered from the injectors failing had blown the injector driver as well, managed to get a second hand driver and a set of Re-manufactured injectors to keep the cost as reasonable as possible for the customer. #notjustanothermechanic

15.01.2022 Brake job all round on a nice Volvo this morning, I have been using the Ate brand brakes lately after trying a few brands I have been really happy with the quality, availability and price, to pass on to the customer... They are original equipment on a lot of European makes, including Volvo and Volkswagen. Again getting good use out of my new Scan tool for releasing of the electric park brake

09.01.2022 W211 Mercedes 5L V8, the more you look, the more problems you find! The vacuum hoses and gaskets around the intake are so brittle they just crumble in your hands... all coked up inside gonna get it all cleaned up. The Bosch Injectors also had suffered the same way, they have been sent away for reconditioning. Having said that this car is almost 20 years old and has been very well cared for by the owner. He loves his car and is very passionate about it. He wouldn’t leave his car with somebody that didn’t take time to understand HIS car. It’s a pleasure to work with clients like this. He was recommended to me and I will make sure he is not disappointed! #mercedesmedic #notjustanothermechanic

08.01.2022 When German Auto Werke is officially open, I will be offering a Valet service, and when I say valet service, I mean it! For instance, this client brought her Mercedes-Benz A250 Sport in running badly, engine light on, overdue for service and out of brakes from lockdown and infested with ants! She had parked it under a tree and the dripping sap had attracted a swarm of ants! I placed ant bait in strategic locations overnight in the shop and when the service and repairs were... completed it received a detail as well, and was sparkling like new when the customer picked it up. Some services I will be offering here are, -loan car, Uber, detailing, and free coffee vouchers, all on top of great service and a professional high quality job.

I used to work for a guy 10 years ago when I had just finished my apprenticeship who used to say I don’t work on anything starting with V and he would give them all to me as back yarders... His words still ring in my ear some days

05.01.2022 When your working as a mobile mechanic you don’t always have all the tools at your disposal in the event of unforeseen problems during the repair. So you have to improvise! Today I am doing steering rack ends on a commodore, which should be a fairly straightforward repair. However both threads were damaged in the ends of the rack and I didn’t have a tap to repair the thread in that size. Using an old wheel bolt and cutting two slots across the threads is a simple way to... improvise a thread repair and can get you out of trouble. Me: 1 car: 0

05.01.2022 Do you love Volvo? We love Volvo, in fact is one of our specialties at A3 Automotive Services, so is BMW. Did two 60k log book services today mobile, the BM had the brakes metal to metal on the LHR which is a reminder why we should always get our service done on time as this customer was unaware her brakes had run out! Not only that but they had been fitted wrong by the last workshop by fitting the inside pad and outside pad the opposite way around it caused the pad to tilt slightly which is why it wore away the edge first. The BMW requires special tools to not only wind back the caliper but a scan tool to put the electric Handbrake into service mode. No problem at A3 Automotive Services as Rod is highly experienced with European cars.

04.01.2022 The twin throttle bodies on the V8 turbo diesel Audi, are a common failure due to soot and carbon buildup on the throttle flap causing the plastic gears to strip. They are in excess of $1500 each... here prevention can save you thousands. Doing a swirl flap delete on an Audi Q7 4.2tdi and stage 1 tune. Should add around 50HP and 120nm of torque to this bad girl. Here you can see the carbon buildup on the throttle bodies which would cause these to fail, so have stripped them,... cleaned them and servicing them, while doing the job. Manifolds getting the same treatment too, will post more pics of this job as it progresses. I can repair almost any Audi or VW throttle body even when the gears are stripped or broken, common symptom is lack of power/limp mode or setting a code for accelerator/throttle correlation...
