25.01.2022 Supporting Vehicle Spray Painting Apprentices at the World Skills Australia trials held at TAFE NSW Glendale to represent Australia at the Global Skills event later this year.

25.01.2022 No new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with the total number of cases in NSW remaining at 4,029. This is the second day in ...a row that NSW has had no new cases, either locally acquired or in hotel quarantine. There were 6,353 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 12,333 in the previous 24 hours. NSW Health thanks the community for all they have done towards reducing COVID-19 numbers and continues to ask people to remain vigilant and come forward for testing immediately if symptoms like a runny nose, scratchy throat, cough or fever appear. This is particularly important with the start of school holidays and increased movement of people around the state. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. NSW Health is treating 63 COVID-19 cases, including three in intensive care, none of whom are being ventilated. Eighty-seven per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant. To help stop the spread of COVID-19: - If you are unwell, get tested and isolate right away don’t delay. - Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out. - Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others. - Wear a mask on public transport, ride share, taxis, shopping, places of worship and other places where you can’t physically distance. When taking taxis or rideshares, commuters should sit in the back and wear a mask. COVID-19 testing clinics can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics, or call your GP.

22.01.2022 During this COVID crisis, Auslan Australia’s sign language has played a crucial role in getting important information out to those who are hearing impaired.... Today on International Day of Sign Languages, I’d like to say thank you to all our Auslan interpreters for everything you’re doing. To show my support for our deaf community, I’ve had another go at trying #Auslan. I still need more practice but today is all about having a go I’d encourage all Australians to learn some Auslan and give it a try. Thank you also to the Deaf Society and Deaf Services for the great work they do and for organising the Auslan Leaders’ Challenge. #AuslanCommunityLeadersChallenge2020 #InternationalDayofSignLanguages

10.01.2022 This is something that AAPR has been pro active in securing for the benefit of our members & which benefits the wider industries future workforce. Phase 2 is in the pipeline. Stay tuned! New low-risk, low-scope exemption... A new exemption for low-risk, low-scope work will be introduced to the Motor Dealers and Repairers Regulation 2014 in the coming weeks following a lengthy public consultation process, and invaluable engagement with the motor repairer industry. People who do certain types of low-risk, low-scope motor vehicle repair work wont have to hold a Certificate III qualification. The exemptions are only applicable if the tasks do not alter the performance, handling or safety of the vehicle. Guidelines for the low-risk, low-scope work will be published on the NSW Fair Trading website in the coming weeks. This will provide the industry greater direction on the examples of work that is exempted from the regulations. Be sure to keep an eye out on the NSW Fair Trading website for the commencement of the new exemptions. Industry associations will also be notified so that all sectors of the motor vehicle industry are kept fully informed of impending changes.
