21.01.2022 Police say they've disrupted a major criminal group supplying drugs in the Inverell area with more arrests to come. Detectives searched a Warialda house yesterday where they allegedly seized a quantity of ice, steroids, cash and stolen property. A 32-year-old man and 27-year-old woman will front court tomorrow charged with 40 offences between them.

20.01.2022 Police say shots were fired at five homes in Boggabilla about 3.30 this morning No one was injured. Officers from the New England Police District are investigating and believe the incidents are targeted.... Crime scenes have been established on three streets in the area. 10.01.2022 COCAINE, TASERS FOUND IN CAR STOP A man will front court today after cocaine and weapons were allegedly found in his car at Moree overnight. About 9.30pm, officers attached to the New England Proactive Crime Team stopped a car on the Newell Highway.... During a search, officers allegedly found white powder believed to be Cocaine, a ballistic vest and three tasers. The 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with drug supply and possession of a prohibited weapon. Police say the Queensland man also had an outstanding warrant for fraud offences. He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court today.

09.01.2022 HNE Health says the first week of sewage testing for COVID-19 in Armidale and Moree has not found any traces of the virus. But the health district is still urging people to get swabbed, with testing rates down 80 per cent in the last two months.

07.01.2022 Police allege a woman was caught drink driving twice in the space of six hours in Inverell at the weekend. About 11pm, Friday, New England Police saw a blue car bearing QLD registration, stopped on the side of Gwydir Highway, Inverell. Officers stopped and spoke with the driver, a 30-year-old woman from Labrador in Queensland.... They conducted a breath test and the woman returned an alleged positive result and a breath analysis at Inverell Police Station returned a high reading of .171. She was charged with high-range drink driving. Further investigations revealed the woman had been detected driving with a mid-range PCA at Tenterfield, about 160km north-east of Inverell, about 6pm on the same day. The woman was suspended from driving in NSW and her keys were seized by police. She was granted conditional bail to appear before Tenterfield Local Court in January.
