12.01.2022 OFFICIAL WEATHER STATION NEEDED IN GOONDIWINDI 46 degrees is predicted for the border town of Goondiwindi tomorriw, which would beat its 45.2 December record. It comes after a number of plus 40 degree days, but Mayor Lawrence Springborg said without an official weather station residents can't get accurate information about conditions.... He said the council installed its own unofficial weather station to try to help locals and improve disaster planning. That's certainly not good enough for a major agricultural centre like Goondiwindi, he said. When you're looking at major heatwave events like this, there is a lot of interest in what's happening. And when people go online to try to find if the much-predicted breaking of the record did or didn't happen, then you just can't find it. He said people also relied on heat and rainfall data to make business decisions. We do need this corrected, we're told that it's going to be corrected, he said. Mr Springborg said local MP David Littleproud informed the council that the Bureau of Meteorology is putting a weather station in at Goondiwindi, but the timeframe is unknown.
